I had PRK about 20 years ago in Dubai with a German doctor, and now--two decades later--it's finally time to correct my vision again. I visited several eye doctors, hoping to be a candidate for LASIK. Unfortunately, every one of them ruled it out and recommended PRK again. Then I found Dr. Michael Mazaheri, and to my surprise, he was the only doctor who said NO--not just to LASIK, but to PRK as well. He explained in detail why surgery would be risky in my case, citing thin corneas and retina. I'll never forget what he said and I quote: "If I agree to perform surgery, then I'm only thinking about my pocket--but I care about your vision." Unlike the other doctors, who didn't even mention my elevated eye pressure, Dr. Mazaheri took a cautious, thorough, and ethical approach. He recommended a conservative treatment plan first, prescribing eye drops and a range of vitamins to strengthen my cornea and retina. His plan is to monitor my progress and reassess in a year--possibly starting with surgery on the right eye first, since the left is more compromised. Was I disappointed to learn that surgery isn't an option right now? Absolutely. But I am grateful beyond words for Dr. Mazaheri's honesty, expertise, and dedication to doing what's best for his patients--not what's profitable. I'd much rather take care of my eyes first than rush into a surgery that could turn into a nightmare. Thank you, Dr. Mazaheri, for treating your patients with integrity and compassion. I had LASIK surgery here over 15 years ago (2005). I come back every year for a checkup. They are awesome. I still have perfect vision. And had absolutely no complications. I had a great experience with Dr. Mazaheri and the M Lasik Center. As an attorney I rely on my eyesight heavily in reviewing legal documents, and as pilot, I rely on my eyesight for safety. After many years deliberating over the decision to have eye surgery I finally decided to take the next steps. At my initial appointment I explained my apprehension to Dr. M and asked if there was any way that I could visit with a few of his current and former patients about their experiences. To my amazement Dr. M brought in three different patients over the course of my appointment, allowing me to visit privately with each. Additionally and afterward, Dr. M put me in touch with another eye surgeon who entrusted surgery on her own children to Dr. M. This really helped me overcome my apprehension toward eye surgery. Surgery went great, and I couldn't believe how well I was seeing after only week. It's now been nearly three months since my surgery and my vision is fantastic. I'm able to easily read hundreds of documents on a daily basis. I'm able to fly safely, easily spot distant traffic and airports, and no longer have to carry a back-up pair of glasses in case I blink out a contact! I had lasik and prk done in 2006. I have to say I still have 20/20 vision. I had gone to another physician's office to find out more about lasik and never got to see the doctor. When I went to Dr. Mazaheri's office, he personally gave me all the details and answered all of my questions. I was impressed and chose Dr. Mazaheri for my procedure. After being evaluated for Lasik surgery several years ago and finding that it was super expensive and may have a negative effect on my dry eyes I decided to wait. THANK GOD I did!!! One of my optomotrists employees had Lasik with Dr. M Mazaheri and was extremely enthusiastic about his results and the care he received. I scheduled my appointment with Celeste and they got me in within a couple of days. The office staff were very pleasant and the waiting room was very clean and relaxing. I did not wait long at all once I arrived and Chris kindly answered every question I had with patience. He was very thorough in describing the procedure and everything pre and post care as far as what to expect. Then I met Dr. M and felt so comfortable with his knowledge, experience and expertise and I got such a good vibe that I decided to BOOK MY SURGERY ON THE SPOT! I never schedule anything on the spot so that is saying alot about how the overall first visit went. Dr. M was thorough and put me completely at ease leading up to and through the surgery date. Dr. M has such a tremendous bed side manner and I was not nervous at all! Plus, I knew that he had his own blade free flapless Lasik procedure just a few years before, not to mention all the Dr.'s, Pilots and professionals that have such strict regulations on any kind of eye procedure. So, I put the utmost of confidence in him and his procedural technique. I could not believe that I did not feel a thing and within less than 30 seconds I could already see out of one eye immediately, There was no burning or any discomfort at all!! The other eye was just as fast and the whole thing was over in about a minute!! The clarity was amazing!! I had some slight discomfort later on which was to be expected and I actually reached Dr. M on his cell phone and he picked up just about the first ring. I have never experienced that with a Dr.'s aftercare ever before!! So professional!! I have continued to follow up with my care and each time I go in is pleasant and very timely! Dr. M even did the procedure for my dry eyes on a follow up visit and included it in my after care, which he did not have to do at all! My Dad even had an emergency eye situation and Dr. M had him come in right away. Talk about service. My Dad was not even his patient. So far so good and I have already reccommended Dr. M to several people, including family friends and even strangers that I talk to in passing I was so overly satisfied with The M Lasik Center. My Dad is next in line for the PRK Intra-Lasik. I own an energy consulting firm and I was so satisfied with them that I did a complimentart evaluation for them on their power. In doing so I came across some bad people that apparently were out to damage Dr. M's reputation for whatever reason and I found that there accusations on the power being off to be completely false. At no time in the history of The M Lasik Center being in business has the power ever been turned off for slow pay or non-payment of bills. So, whoever is saying that along with the other derogetory comments doesn't have anything better to do with their time. I can assure you that this person has it out for Dr. M for whatever reason, but the multiple names they used to log in back in Dec. 2009, Jan. 2010 and in June 2010 are all the same person. I have my IT guy looking into it now to try to expose who this creep who made all the bad posts here and all over the internet. Looks like he got a day job since he/her hasn't been bloggin lately. Anyway, if you are considering Dr. M just know that you would be in the best possible hands of any Lasik Dr. possible.
