My experience at this group ophthalmology practice was good, but not great. The entire routine…read morevisit also took two hours and 10 minutes to complete. The support staff were pleasant, thorough, and efficient. However, they did something which I found questionable. Having noticed a mild cataract in one of my eyes, the technician asked me if I wanted to take the extra time to complete the preoperative cataract-removal paperwork, in case my doctor found that the cataract might merit surgery. In other words, even though I might not need it and my doctor hadn't even examined me to assess the cataract severity yet, I was asked if I wanted to be administratively prepped for surgery. As it turned out, my cataract did not merit consideration of surgery. My brief visit with the ophthalmologist was thorough and my exam, doctor assessment and future follow-up was all covered. What I found disappointing that the ophthalmologist seemed to lack friendliness or empathy.

The real issue was optical prescription. I took it to Costco to make lens. Upon receiving the new lens, my vision became a lot worse because my left eye could barely see anything. Opticians at Costco suggested me to go back to Key Whitman for an re-exam. The second time I had the same lady (not sure if she was a licensed optometrist). The exam equipment was ill prepared. The chart was not even in the center of my view. We struggled a lot with the machine to get through the exam. I took the new prescription to Costco. The optician saw the results and told me that it was impossible that two exams would yield such different results within 10 days timeframe. They strongly suggested me to get a second opinion from another optometrist. I later went to a new independent optometrist office, paid exam fee to get a new exam. This time, I noticed that in this other optometrist office, the service and equipment were day and night comparing to those at Key Whitman Allen office. Now I am wearing the new lens from the latest eye prescription and cannot be more happy with it.

It has been over four months since my surgery, and I could not be more pleased with the results…read more Dr. M and his staff made this a great experience for me. I would like to share my story and background if my history relates to other prospects considering the PRK procedure. I am a 40-year-old male, and before my surgery, my prescription was -4.25/-4.50 with a slight/mild astigmatism in both eyes. I started needing glasses at the age of 12 and I was in contacts by 13. About 5 years ago, I started noticing the discomfort of wearing contacts on a daily basis. I would come home from work, and immediately take them out, if I had no plans that evening. I also have extremely dry eyes, and usually use re-wetting drops frequently. I have always found glasses to be a nuisance, and wearing them for long periods of time gave me a headache. My goal was to get Lasik by the time I turned 40. I priced out the surgery with several surgeons in the D/FW metro-plex, including my optometrist, and I found the PRK procedure to be rather competitive to the traditional Lasik procedure, so I decided to make an appointment with Dr. M./M Lasik Center since there was no fee for the consultation. (I ended up paying about $200 more than what my eye doctor quoted me, based on my prescription, and considering my astigmatisms.) Halfway through the consultation, I already knew I had decided that this is the route I wanted to go. Dr. M. encouraged me to do my research first before making a solid decision, but I was already sold. During the consultation, Dr. M. has you watch a video of his competitor (a local Lasik surgeon) that had Dr. M. perform the PRK procedure on all 5 of her children. There's really not much more that needed to be said at that point. I have heard stories about how many Lasik patients feel like cattle during their procedure, as other institutions perform this procedure in droves. At M Lasik Center, there's only one procedure at a time, and Dr. M. performed it himself, with his nurse in the room to assist him. After the procedure, I was taken into a post-recovery room, where I was the only one in there. I felt like I was the only patient that day, and cannot relate to other stories that I have heard. Post-surgery: I did have a lot of headaches and I was overly fatigued, but that was due to the fact that my eyes were sensitive to the steroid drops given, which is rare, but in my case, it happened. I do keep my eyes moistened throughout the day, as post-PRK patients need to since the eyes can be dry for 6-12 months after surgery. The headaches are due to your eyes trying to adjust to their new setting, and that does not recalibrate overnight. Just be patient and understand that it is part of the process. If you don't choose M Lasik Center, you should at least consider the free consultation. If you do choose Dr. M., just remember that the PRK procedure is different than the traditional Lasik procedure. Do NOT listen to your friends or others that have had the traditional Lasik procedure, because you might hear some conflicting information. Pay attention to Dr. M. and follow every instruction he gives. It can be scary and you probably will be nervous, but you are in great hands and within a couple of months after the surgery, your only regrets will be that you didn't do this sooner.

I've worn glasses for 30+ years and only dreamed that I would ever be able to see without them. Dr. M made that dream come true a few months ago. My prescription was very high, around -10 and -13. Not only do I not have to wear glasses anymore, my vision is just about 20/20! I'm so very thankful for Dr. M taking me on as a patient to undergo the no cut LASIK procedure!

I cannot say enough wonderful things about Eye Health Texas, Dr. Pooja, Dr. Sashi, and their staff…read more Most importantly, they took the time to listen to us, understand what we had been through, and actually look for solutions. For three years, my husband Henry endured an incredibly frustrating and painful ordeal with his eyes. It began with dry eyes, and we sought treatment from specialists in our hometown of Amarillo. We were told he needed laser treatments, so he went through approximately five rounds, a month apart, none of which were covered by insurance. Unfortunately, he received no relief. He then underwent several treatments involving heat applied throughout his face. His face was extremely red afterward, the procedure was painful, and once again, it did not help. During all of this, Henry continued to tell his doctor that his eyes hurt terribly and that he could hardly keep them open. Yet we were repeatedly told that everything looked terrific. We eventually sought another opinion from a different, well-known eye specialist in Amarillo. Throughout that appointment, Henry could barely keep his eyes open because of the discomfort, but once again we were told that everything looked good. By this point, Henry had not driven in three years, and his employer had told him he needed to take time off work until his eye problems could be resolved. This was not simply an inconvenience--it had greatly affected his independence, his work, and his everyday quality of life. Then we went to Broom Optical, where Dr. Lisa O'Brien examined Henry. She wanted to investigate further because she saw something involving his cornea that others had not recognized. She referred us to Eye Health Texas in Plano. We made the trip to Plano with very little hope left. That is when everything began to change. Dr. Pooja sat down with Henry and genuinely listened as he explained what had been happening. While they were talking, she said something that surprised us: "I believe those contacts are too small." Who knew contacts came in sizes? We certainly didn't! Before she had even completed the full examination, she had Henry try a larger contact lens right there in her office. She initially went up three sizes, and almost immediately, Henry's eyes hurt less. After everything he had been through, it was unbelievable to see such a difference from something no one else had considered. She has since increased the size two more times, and on September 15, 2026, we left Eye Health Texas with Henry's newest set of contacts. We will forever be grateful to Dr. Pooja for listening, paying attention, and continuing to search for an answer when we felt as though no one else was truly hearing what Henry was telling them. And our gratitude to Eye Health Texas does not stop with Henry. While we were there for one of Henry's appointments about a year ago, Dr. Sashi also examined my eyes and told me that cataract surgery might be something I would need in the future. When we returned later, they found that my cataracts had progressed and it was time to take care of them. I am now only two weeks out from cataract surgery and have 20/20 vision again! After everything our family has experienced with eye care over the past three years, I cannot adequately express how grateful we are for the doctors and staff at Eye Health Texas. They listened to us, believed what Henry was telling them, paid attention to the details, and looked for solutions. Sometimes the most important thing a doctor can do is simply stop and truly listen to the patient. Dr. Pooja did that for Henry, and it changed his life. We drove from Amarillo to Plano looking for answers, and we found people who genuinely cared enough to keep looking for them. Thank you, Dr. Pooja, Dr. Sashi, and everyone at Eye Health Texas. You have our deepest gratitude and our highest recommendation.
