**BED BUG ALERT**…read more okay so you now how when you go to a hotel the sheets usually are clean, new and matching? Well that's not how they do it at the Spenard. the sheets were floral, solid, mismatched and looked about 15 years old. That I was going to grin and bear. The ciggerate burns and rips in the comforter I was going to grin and bear. The dangling lightbulb instead of a normal lamp I was going to just turn a blind eye to. The old microwave on a foldout and the holes in the bathroom door I was looking past. The "Adults Only" store right next door was difficult to look past, but hey it was just going to be one night and i'd find somewhere else tomorrow, right? So now to the bed bug discovery...I was sitting up in the bed at about 1AM - unwilling to bring myself to lay in the sheets. I was sitting for only ten minutes in the light of the room till a bug comes scampering across my shoulder...I tried to capture it on a piece of paper and right when it hit the paper it moved at an unprecidented speed - so i squished it. I thought it might be a tick but I wasn't sure. I looked up bed bugs on my phone and was horrified to find out that it was infact a bed bug. When I showed the evidence to the owner/employee she said, "Oooooh, that's a BIG ONE!!" I got the heck out of there and found the most wonderful hotel down the street - Eagle...something was in the title. I will definitely go back to that one. Things you need to know about bed bugs: 1:they only feast on human and animal blood. 2:They can survive up to a year without eating. 3:They usually onl come out in the dark but in some cases (like mine) can be seen in the light. 4: You can only be sure you have an infestation if you physically see one. 5:They are nearly impossible to get rid of - exterminators even have problems with them. 6:you will likely bring them home with you if you encounter them. 7:They come out in the hundreds in the night and eat their sleeping victims like a gift from hell.

If you even call it an establishment. They keep trying to bring me towels when I say "no thank you please no thank you" they just leave the door unlocked and walk away leaving me barn door wide open while I'm asleep door not even halfway locked. Their fucking insane for doing that to me. When I have been out here more than 5 nights now and they still can't even seem to do their jobs correctly no matter how long you stay here. It's absolute disregard for the customer just for the job entitlement. And they cant even give me my 20 nights stay money back pre-deposited even though they keep on accusing me of smoking marijuana although I do own a medical marijuana card I'm not even smoking any weed honest to God. And I just wanted to go to the Ramada inn way nicer hotel across the street from the government hill bridge. I can't even get my deposit back to go to the Ramada inn. For my 20 nights stay booked in advance at the bird Creek motel inn. I just wanted to stay in room # seven or nine. Where previously was a couple of nights ago, Before the cleaning lady lost her mind and accused me of smoking weed as another false accusation. I'm being held hostage in a different room now unable to get my money back and I do want to be in this room anymore.

Three downsides: the bathroom wasn't all that clean, I could hear every word and movement of the people in the next unit, and they leave their dog tied up with no bed or shelter. I didn't check the hot tub to see whether it was clean. The other people staying there werent being loud, the walls are just obviously not well insulated. That poor dog sat in the dirt for hours and hours on a short chain right outside my door. As a dog lover, this bothered me greatly.

It is an excellent get away spot that is just right to relax and enjoy being in Alaska. The cabin is heated with a modern bathroom and partial kitchen. By partial kitchen I mean: refrigerator, microwave, sink and coffee maker. There is a gas grill on the front porch however. The cabin sleeps four with two in the master bed and two in the small single beds in the loft. There is also plenty of room for others to stretch out on the floor. The owner, Maggie, is very friendly and helpful. Hope, AK is small but is a very clean and nice historical town. Check out the Seaview Cafe for a great beer selection, delicious food and an amazing view. Definitely add the Black Bear B&B and Hope, AK as a side trip as you tour the Kenai Peninsula.

I was a single female and worked a full time job & just enrolled in college for the first time. He took my belongings from my home while I wasn't there, accused me of anything and everything he could put his finger on. I had hidden cameras and would have my friends stop by my place to check on it while I was at work. The home that was supposed to be my sanctuary ended up being a nightmare. I dealt with so much stress, I missed work. I had to hire an attorney and fight on my behalf on what he was doing un-lawfully by breaking the landlord tenant law act along with his own lease. Long story short, I won, he had no proof to support his own lies & I got the case dismissed. He ruined my life. I will have an eviction forever on my record now because of this man. (Yes, even though I won). I have NEVER done anything to this man or his property. I tried to be civil with him for so long, until it got to the point where I was walking on eggshells. I stood up for myself (which was a surprise to him), and I fought for justice. Lesson learned. Don't let landlords take advantage of you & threaten to evict you. Stand up for yourself. I never harmed this man, he intruded my life and wouldn't leave me alone.

Absolutely wonderful. First of all, the house is amazing. It's a lodge style home in the hills…read moreabove Anchorage, and it has decks all around, so you can have a perfect view of Cook Inlet and Flattop mountain. Inside, the living room is huge, with cathedral ceilings and exposed wood beams. The place is spotlessly clean, and the owners have attended to every detail to make your stay as comfortable as possible. Guests can use the living room, tv, and deck, and you have limited use of the kitchen (due to B&B health code requirements, I think). They have a mini fridge for you to store your food, and you can use the microwave. I stayed in the Moose Trails room, which is decorated in a moose theme (of course). The bed is great (brand new mattress), with a cute stuffed moose to keep you company. There is a small tv and some Alaska videos to watch. The bathroom is shared with the next room over (it's attached), and is stocked with plenty of clean fluffy towels. The room has a view of the mountains out back. The breakfasts here are amazing. I got a full home cooked breakfast every single day. The menus included french toast (with a choice of maple syrup, strawberry rhubarb syrup, cinnamon sugar, powdered sugar), reindeer sausage, western style eggs, hash browns, breakfast burrito, and toast. Fresh fruit was also at the table every morning, as well as juice, milk, and coffee. All in all, it was a wonderful experience staying here. The owners are great people and gave me a real Alaska welcome. I would definitely stay here again on my next trip.

After each, the host/cook Del Ann asked for desired choice for the following day, can't ask for any more accommodations. We rented both the upstairs bedrooms which share a "jack&Jill" bathroom between us. There is a lower floor Room with it's own bathroom, and there is 1/2 bath off the kitchen, which I took advantage of when my daughter occupied the upstairs bathroom. View is spectacular! Yard is "park like". Your extremely close to Chugash trail system. access up and down the hillside via O'Malley or Abbott road puts you minutes from airport/downtown (but there was allot of construction Abbott during our visit).
