The only thing to note is that you can hear foot traffic from the common room in the lower floor rooms (Illiamna and St. Elias), which was only an issue in the morning around breakfast time. Breakfast was equally delicious with a spread of pastries, fruit, sausage, hash browns, etc. It's about a 10-15min walk to downtown Anchorage as well as the coastal trail. Steve and Monica are fantastic hosts! Would definitely stay here again when in town.

**BED BUG ALERT**…read more okay so you now how when you go to a hotel the sheets usually are clean, new and matching? Well that's not how they do it at the Spenard. the sheets were floral, solid, mismatched and looked about 15 years old. That I was going to grin and bear. The ciggerate burns and rips in the comforter I was going to grin and bear. The dangling lightbulb instead of a normal lamp I was going to just turn a blind eye to. The old microwave on a foldout and the holes in the bathroom door I was looking past. The "Adults Only" store right next door was difficult to look past, but hey it was just going to be one night and i'd find somewhere else tomorrow, right? So now to the bed bug discovery...I was sitting up in the bed at about 1AM - unwilling to bring myself to lay in the sheets. I was sitting for only ten minutes in the light of the room till a bug comes scampering across my shoulder...I tried to capture it on a piece of paper and right when it hit the paper it moved at an unprecidented speed - so i squished it. I thought it might be a tick but I wasn't sure. I looked up bed bugs on my phone and was horrified to find out that it was infact a bed bug. When I showed the evidence to the owner/employee she said, "Oooooh, that's a BIG ONE!!" I got the heck out of there and found the most wonderful hotel down the street - Eagle...something was in the title. I will definitely go back to that one. Things you need to know about bed bugs: 1:they only feast on human and animal blood. 2:They can survive up to a year without eating. 3:They usually onl come out in the dark but in some cases (like mine) can be seen in the light. 4: You can only be sure you have an infestation if you physically see one. 5:They are nearly impossible to get rid of - exterminators even have problems with them. 6:you will likely bring them home with you if you encounter them. 7:They come out in the hundreds in the night and eat their sleeping victims like a gift from hell.

However, there are a couple of improvement points. There was no housekeeping offered during our stay, so it was unclear how to get new towels or how to remove trash. Additionally, the entry system confuses a lot of people at first (ourselves included). This leads to incessant doorbell ringing and beeping noises, despite the fact that there is not a staff member on duty to let anyone in. Also, there were times where the front door was just left open because it is a bit hard to close and there is no staff member to check these things. If you are looking to focus on the activities you do in Alaska as opposed to just your stay, this may be a good option .

See other review about how some guests leave the front door open). There is no way to lock the room from inside of the room. The little diner next to it is fantastic for breakfast.

If you even call it an establishment. They keep trying to bring me towels when I say "no thank you please no thank you" they just leave the door unlocked and walk away leaving me barn door wide open while I'm asleep door not even halfway locked. Their fucking insane for doing that to me. When I have been out here more than 5 nights now and they still can't even seem to do their jobs correctly no matter how long you stay here. It's absolute disregard for the customer just for the job entitlement. And they cant even give me my 20 nights stay money back pre-deposited even though they keep on accusing me of smoking marijuana although I do own a medical marijuana card I'm not even smoking any weed honest to God. And I just wanted to go to the Ramada inn way nicer hotel across the street from the government hill bridge. I can't even get my deposit back to go to the Ramada inn. For my 20 nights stay booked in advance at the bird Creek motel inn. I just wanted to stay in room # seven or nine. I'm being held hostage in a different room now unable to get my money back and I do want to be in this room anymore.

We had such a hit or miss experience with Dimond Center Hotel during our stay in June 2024…read more Housekeeping - since we arrived after midnight, I really didn't need housekeeping our first morning just hours later so I advised the front desk who put a notation. Housekeeping still came. The second day, after I left the room at 9am, I put up the sign for service and housekeeping never come. It may be due to the fact that the hanger for please make up the room is the same color as please do not disturb. Having different colors on each side may be easier for housekeeping to differentiate. Water - We received a note under our door that they were turning water off for 2 hours but didn't specify the date or approximate time. We thought it was that night so we filled up the tub so we can flush the toilet. It wasn't turned off during the night so we assumed it would be during the day so decided to stay out most of the next day returning after lunch to check. When we returned after dinner at 9pm in hopes of using their tub, we found another note under the door that they were shutting it off from 11pm-1am, preventing us from soaking in that tub but only able to take a quick shower. It would be great if they gave us a time frame with our original note the night before. But everything wasn't a miss at this hotel. The breakfast was good and staff friendly and attentive to ensure the food was filled and tables cleaned. It was great that the shuttle ran into Downtown and not just the airport, so we didn't have to take the bus to and from downtown until we got a car. But overall, it was underwhelming considering we paid the most here out of our three accommodations in Alaska.

When I went in the room, I was pretty surprised how big it was, but the bathtub was huge! It was clearly meant to be a nice hotel! On the downside, in the rear of the hotel, there's a courtyard that has some really cool metal artwork like a giant mammoth, but there's also a shed that's filled up with some junk and some equipment. There's a smoking area and the ashtray was full. It just needed some care! Another downside is that they used Fabuloso to clean and that smell just makes me sick. The breakfast in the morning was okay. They had a waffle machine, some overdone eggs, some sausage , and some cereal. Add watered down juice and mediocre coffee. People were keeping it clean, but it was just average. Woild I stay there again? Probably but this time I'm gonna bring my grandchildren so they can play in the big giant bathtub.

Let me tell you that my wife and I was so impressed by the Alaska Resort. All we kept saying if we're get back to Alaska, we will spend more time here. When you arrive at the hotel, I had this feeling that we were in someplace like the Swiss Alps, I've never been there but from what I know from seeing on TV, my opinion. The hotel is just beautiful and our rooms were just amazing as well, everything top notch! We had 2 Queen beds in our room, a dressing/ sink area and enclosed bath. We had a coffee machine as well with fridge below. We left the room to walk around and we came out the back to find snooze giving us all a show as it bathed in the pond, what a site. We took the tram up to the top of the mountain, where I then continued with others to climb the path to the top. It was truly Gods country, just beautiful all the things you saw from up there. After getting back into the resort, we sat a table in the bar with our wonderful bartender made us dine very fine drinks! It was very relaxing. We went to dinner in the restaurant and had a light dinner which was also delicious. Like I said, I wish we had more than one night there, the Alyeska Resort is just beautiful, enjoy the photos
