We slept badly all night bc we were too warm (the one night in Alaska when it's was warm, I guess!) We paid 200.00 for one night and we were not at all impressed or satisfied. There are many places to stay in Anchorage that cost less or more than this; with such a selection, 11th Ave. B&B did not deliver the expected level of service we had anticipated for the price.

The only thing to note is that you can hear foot traffic from the common room in the lower floor rooms (Illiamna and St. Elias), which was only an issue in the morning around breakfast time. The common deck was a perfect place to start or end the day with views of the water. Breakfast was equally delicious with a spread of pastries, fruit, sausage, hash browns, etc. It's about a 10-15min walk to downtown Anchorage as well as the coastal trail. It is an excellent get away spot that is just right to relax and enjoy being in Alaska. The cabin is heated with a modern bathroom and partial kitchen. By partial kitchen I mean: refrigerator, microwave, sink and coffee maker. There is a gas grill on the front porch however. The cabin sleeps four with two in the master bed and two in the small single beds in the loft. There is also plenty of room for others to stretch out on the floor. The owner, Maggie, is very friendly and helpful. Hope, AK is small but is a very clean and nice historical town. Check out the Seaview Cafe for a great beer selection, delicious food and an amazing view. Definitely add the Black Bear B&B and Hope, AK as a side trip as you tour the Kenai Peninsula.

There's a sign on the swinging door meant to notify guests that its the door to the Alaska Suite (I don't know if that actually deters anyone from using the bathroom that's right past the swinging doors). The kids bedroom and the master bedroom are on either side, both with combo locks. Not sure how "secure" this setup is, especially for ones that truly have little ones staying in that room. The beds were so soft and squeaky, none of us got a good nights rest. They did a good job with the decor in all the common areas, bedrooms and bathroom. The two dilapidated RVs in the back of the property were quite the eyesore though. 100% contactless check in and out. I received a code via email 15 minutes before check in at 3pm and instructions later on how to check out. My parents were stoked to find the help yourself well stocked fridge and pantry items for breakfast. They cooked themselves some soft boiled eggs in the early AM and were happy campers.

The booking process was a breeze as it was facilitated by our travel agent Juxia from Homer. We stayed in two different rooms during our stay and both were great. Private bathrooms were a wonderful thing to have as not all B&B's have that and you have the daily morning fight for the bathroom. It is hard to get a feel of a B&B just from the pictures and reviews but after spending some time here I can highly recommend staying with Krista and Zack. They are perfect hosts and a wealth of information for your trip to Alaska. As this is yelp I will also mention the delicious food we had as well. On the first night we checked in late because our flight didn't arrive until past midnight but Krista had cookies out for us on the kitchen counter. Breakfast time is a great time to talk with other guests and with Rita about our experiences and recommendations. Bears and moose frequent the yard. Rita shared with us pictures of a bear that came on her deck just a few days before we arrived. Very close to Flat Top Mountain, which, if you are able, is a fantastic hike. I thought it was better than the hikes at Denali.

The rooms are spacious, comfortable, and luxuriously decorated. I love that each one has its own spa-like bathroom. Everything is very clean and neat. It's a bit of a long drive from the airport so make sure you have your own car. But the drive is sooo worth it. From the large deck, you can look out over most of the city, the ocean and mountains beyond. The sunsets turn the water all sorts of beautiful colors!
