I contacted the owner, Anthony, who was very responsive and accommodating. We were the first guests to the Big Bear Den. It was clean, lovely and inviting. We were exhausted and everyone had a place to sleep. 3 couples took the rooms with king and queen beds. The single lady got her own room and the 2 single men took the couch and loveseat. After a good night's sleep we were so thankful for the coffee, different types of creamers and sweetness and even provided almond milk which made my friend very happy. Wish we could've stayed longer but will be referring my friends here first when they travel to Anchorage. You will not regret staying here. Thank you Anthony!

The cabin was very clean with a double bunk, small desk, ample electrical outlets, two lamps and a couple of flashlights. We took advantage of the laundry facility in the common area and left feeling well rested and ready for the next stop! Do not hesitate to make this stop a priority - Hope is a beautiful town!

That being said, it does provide a person going through a hard time a relatively easy opportunity to either get themselves out of being homeless or stop their descent into homelessness, since you only have to pay a week's rent plus a $250 refundable security deposit to get moved in; that's why I'm giving it two stars instead of just one. It's not in a great part of town, to say the very least, and the price of the place for what you're getting is honestly obscene. It's rundown, and when we lived here the other residents didn't make for the best housemates. Despite a no drugs policy, it seemed like everyone on our floor was using something (things that are much stronger than just weed). Would I stay here again? Not unless I had literally no other options. This is your last stop on the way to the streets, and if that's you take it because it's better than nothing at all. Otherwise, keep looking.

Gas stove heated the cabin and made it cozy and homey. Clean and well stocked, but you will need to hit the grocery store before you go as there is no food on site. Beautiful property and secluded, only forest is seen out of the cabin windows. Mountain views are abundant from this area and the wildlife viewing is exceptional. Price was extremely affordable. Our hosts were very accommodating and suggested all sorts of fun excursions in the area. Highly recommend these cabins!
