It wasn't a big job but I guess relatively small because most other vendors I contacted told me that they wouldn't take on the project and that they usually did larger ones. The ones that were willing to take on the project wanted to charge an arm and a leg. I'm so glad I found Cabinet by Design. They were really responsive, reasonably priced, and came out to do a consultation, listening intently to what we wanted and my "vision" but then adding their own thoughts, ideas and expertise. We had this little nook in the living room area that we wanted to make into an office/multi-functional space with some storage, ie cabinets. After the consultation, we then went out to their studio and went over the specific materials, touching and feeling them so we would know exactly what we were getting, discussion options and making final decisions. We went back and forth on the designs too and whenever needed they made modifications to the plan. Best of all was the price. This is the first time I'd ever done custom anything so I got a bit of sticker shock when getting quotes from other companies. Cabinet by Design was by far the most reasonable but I felt we got the high-quality product we were looking for too. Months later we are still so happy with the beautiful, modern built-in Charlie and his team built for our home. I am confident they would do an excellent job on other projects, big or small, modern or traditional, or whichever style you want. I will definitely be using them again for any other projects that come up. I highly recommend Cabinets by Design for any custom work you need completed.

I've reached out to this company continuously for two months and got nowhere but the run around. If you don't want new business, just say that! Stop advertising. I finally gave up. I couldn't imagine spending $30,000- $40,000 with a company that can care less to respond to me countless times. Can you imagine the nightmare it would have been if I would have went through with a project. That's way too much money to give to someone that clearly doesn't know how to run a business, lacks common courtesy and customer service. Bad work ethic all the way around. Neeeeext!

After researching endlessly and meeting with multiple contractors, receiving many bids (some…read morerequired high deposits to even see a design!) and timelines that seemed to make things more confusing and stressful, the renovation gods sent Rob and Harry our way! TLDR: honest guys who did the job with integrity and finished on time and on budget. If you are contemplating a renovation project, you need to go to Balboa Flooring & Kitchen. From the initial meeting with Harry when he came to the house for our consultation, we hit it off right away. Harry took measurements and asked important questions like, how do we use the space, and what were we looking for with the remodel. We met a few days later and spoke about different design ideas, what our style was, and the most important part...discussed a realistic budget! Over the next few days, we connected over Pinterest and shared pages, and within a few days, a basic design was sent to us at no charge, unlike many other places. After finding the design that fit our style, a comprehensive bid was submitted (no surprises here). And like most people, our initial wish list was above our budget. But Harry and Rob sat with us and rather than discouraging our wants/needs, they simply said many times, "let's try to get you what you want" and worked with us to make different choices and limit the scope to our budget without sacrificing quality or the layout that we so badly wanted. During the renovation, we opted to live in the house (I do NOT recommend this!), because it allowed us to stretch the budget. Rob helped with the timeline since it was so close to the holidays and ultimately we decided to break up the project in two parts; phase 1 started towards end of October and even through the holiday season, their guys were able to finish by the first week of December, one week ahead of schedule! Phase 2 began the first week of January to ensure there would be no delays, and within 6 weeks the renovation was complete, on schedule. One of the many things we appreciated the most about working with these guys was their integrity. Yes, there were some unforeseen problems with the original design due to structural issues, but rather than telling us to go forward with it or take advantage of us (because it could have been accomplished but it would cost more), Harry provided us with an alternate suggestion that allowed us to stay on budget, and made us feel even better telling us it will still look great, and that he wouldn't recommend spending the extra money (for the original design). I mean, what business ever says that?! Though there were things we thought we wanted, they offered their ideas and expertise, helping us to stay within budget, and providing solutions that were even better than the original design. We trusted Harry and Rob and we couldn't be happier with the results!

Here's my experience with them:…read more First off, check out the fake reviews that Yelp filtered out. I didn't see these until after I signed the contract. I hired them because I wanted a licenced contractor to finish an ADU  where another contractor left off. I got charged a lot of money but the quality of work was completely lacking. Cabinets were not straight, the counter top was not installed correctly, appliances were not installed correctly and on and on we kept finding mistakes and short cuts  made by the workers they hired. We were given numerous excuses why this and that couldn't be done. Well come to find out all of what they denied could have and should have been done.  You'd be better off hiring the guys in front of Home Depot than using these guys. Anyway, so Gal Sharvit is the one that comes out to give the estimates and oversee the work(which he barely did).  What he did do was ask for payment before the work was complete. I thought he was the one with the licence. It turns out his father Simon is the one with the license and he never once came over to supervise the work nor did I ever speak with him. This seems illegal at worst and shady at best. Most of the time a guy named Ben was there with one of the day- laborers. He often would point out all the mistakes from the other contractor and say how his guys would have done a better job. Unfortunately for us, their work was so poor that we had to hire other guys to fix all the mistakes they made.  You can see these guys have written numerous 5 star  fake reviews for themselves. They are located under "reviews that are not recommended" and most are written within a day of each other.
