Amazing quality and service! I was tired of staring at a blank wall for years but finding extra large art is very expensive and I am very picky. I finally decided to fill the space with a blanket which was too large for any standard frame. Erik took my wrinkled uneven blanket and transformed it by steaming out the wrinkles and cutting the fringe to make it look absolutely perfect! I love everything about this piece including the frame color, backing, how the fringe lays, and overall dimensions. All my guests are impressed with this piece and it brings me joy every day. I am remiss in never having written a review for Erik before now. He and I have been working together for years, me bringing (or sending after I moved out of the area) various pieces of artwork to him, and him making them breathtaking, no matter how lovely they were before he touched them. Erik has an amazing eye for color and texture, using mats and frames to enhance and bring out subtleties in the art being framed rather than simply slapping a frame around it to get it onto the wall. As I mentioned earlier, I moved out of the San Diego area in 2005, and since that time have sent at least 10 pieces to Erik rather than hoping to find someone wherever I was living to even come close. Not to mention his pricing is more than reasonable even with the cost of shipping it to and from to get the work completed. So, to sum up, if you want to not just throw a frame on it, but make whatever you are choosing to display in your home even more eye-catching than when it caught yours, Erik is the man to see. I could not recommend him highly enough if I had pages to dedicate to his review! P.S. Erik is amazing, a true craftsman that cares about the quality of his product and satisfaction of his customers. I took my degree here for framing, wanting it to match the style with another framed degree, with a challenge coin in the center. I came in with the existing frame and only an idea of the colors I wanted and described it to Erik. He understood right away what I was looking for. Spent no more than a few minutes discussing and off he went. True to his word the project only took about a week, and when I went to pick it up, BAM! I saw what I had only envisioned in my head. The matting was perfect (probably even better than the original), the color scheme just as I had imagined, and the frame - not a perfect match with the original (I wasn't looking for a perfect match) it was in the same style but distinct, which highlights the two different schools I received my degree from. Eric does a great job at matting and framing. He did a wonderful job framing my son's Medal of Honors from Scouts. It was done in such a way that they could access the medal, which hung in the middle of the frame, from the back; so that they could wear it with their uniforms for special events. He also matted a lovely print for me. He helped me with the perfect, olive green color for the matting. The matting made the print really pop. I've used Swift Frame a number of times to frame diplomas and certificates, cartoon cells, posters, and art. In a couple of these instances, Erik worked with and dressed up whatever was pre-existing (e.g. broken glass/frame but good picture/matte). More often, I would ask Erik to frame something and I trusted his judgement on matte and frame, and every time I was thrilled. Today I was completely blown away by Swift Frames, and it's manager/framer Erik. I found this frame shop because I had ordered a frame offline that did not come with any hardware to keep the picture in the frame or to hang it up. Not only did Erik help me make my picture frame hang-able, he did it all for free! He even wiped down my plexiglass for me and tried to buff out a scratch that I had accidentally put into the glass. After checking out both Michaels and Aaron Brothers I went on line and found Swift Frame very highly rated on Yelp. Went to the shop and spoke with Erik and could not possibly been more pleased with the way I was treated. Erik really took the time to go over a lot of different options with me for what I felt was a significant investment in the framing of four pieces of art. Then came the day to pick up my finished pieces and I was way beyond satisfied. I really feel as though Erik went well beyond any reasonable expectations to make sure that I was pleased with his work, he is truly a perfectionist. Also, Erik took a liking to the artist whose work I had brought in (Fabio Napoleoni) and made sure to contact me when he found out about a private show that the artist was having in San Diego that I would have otherwise missed. I kind of want this place to stay a hidden gem so he doesn't get too busy but feel I must share. I can't help it when I see people taking their treasures to Michaels and paying outrageous prices for mediocre (at best) work. I always try to get them alone and tell them to run to Swift Frame. Erik is a craftsman, and I feel comfortable leaving my hard work needlecraft with him and telling him to make it look beautiful without having to go through all the possibilities myself. I had two pictures I wanted framed. One was a Rock N Roll poster that I didn't want to be done real expensive, and the other was a WWII picture with my father-in-law, so effectively a vfery special family heirloom. I gave Erik the picture on a Monday and asked for it to be done on Thurs. He got them done by Wednesday. Both were done extremely well and within my expectations. I wanted to create a shadow box/plaque for my dad's retirement following the military and law enforcement career. I had secretly collected a bunch of artifacts from his work friends - patches, badges, and photos. I was really nervous trusting this project to just any random frame shop.
