I purchased a print by Orange & Park many years ago that needed to be framed. Finding a frame with the proper dimensions was very difficult. Thankfully I came across Aztec Graphics. During Covid times I go I touch with Aztec Graphics to ask about getting my poster framed. Barbara was very responsive and responded to my email promptly. I finally arranged sometime to go into PB and get to the shop. They hand craft each frame with beautiful materials. As Barbara was working on framing I shopped the store a little. I came across a Shephard Fairy Obey poster that I've had my eyes on for many years. I was unable to afford a hand signed original at an art show at Ducky Waddles in Encintas. I decided to get the poster and have her frame it. Barbara and I chatted a bit and I learned a little more about her and husband Rick's journey to California from back East. I love this little shop. It's a gem in PB that not a lot of people have heard about. They sell every type of print you could ask for and with any frame you could every want. I always pop in here to get some sort of PB/San Diego local print to gift if someone is moving. We got it in to our head that we wanted a large navy frame that would go with our color scheme in our dining room. We picked out a print and got it framed. They were super patient with us through the entire process as we weren't too sure about size and color so had to take 3 trips to the store (we are SO indecisive). Each time they welcomed us and were as hell bent about having it done right as we were. We finally placed our order and it was ready in 1.5 weeks to pick up. I needed an experienced, professional & quality framer to frame a small Master-level Thanka I brought back from a trek in Nepal. I was looking for Aaron Chang art and these guys have some of his last sold posters/prints. They have more Chang on their ebay site, but pretty unique prints in shop. They also have metal prints and Canadian framed art. They have it all...tapestries to high end framing...Aztec has it all. Old PB, real San Diego. They get 5 stars though for their service. Once, I took in an intricate needlepoint piece my grandmother made for me was damaged during shipping to be reframed. Rather than reframing it, Aztec Graphics repaired the existing, custom frame (which my grandma had picked out) FREE OF CHARGE! I tried to pay, but they wouldn't hear of it. Short story: 10/10 business here in San Diego; They advised perfectly for my two unique Japanese Woodblock prints, handled the paper type properly (for longevity), saved me $$$$, fast turn around, and the vibe is right at the shop! Long story: A local artist and friend (Paul Binnie) made these amazing one of a kind woodblock prints of myself at Blacks beach in Summer Canyon which take 9 months to make, so to me these are priceless to me. Well I was originally advised to go to a different local framing store - I won't name names - (not Aztec Graphics) which wanted $500 per frame! wow I am ignorant but that was too steep of a price. So I went online to get more quotes from online options - won't name names - and after confirming that they could handle this particular paper type, sending my art across the country I was called and told "sorry, we actually can't". As you can guess I was upset and disappointed because I confirmed and now was thinking I had to spend $1000 on the framing for this art! Here comes the good part about Aztec Graphics; A friend recommended Aztec to me and I went, after my initial disappointment wore off, to find a great business with a better vibe, great prices, wide selection and totally left a few weeks later with my priceless art framed perfectly, priced great, fast turn around, and the paper type was handled properly! We brought in a large odd sized picture that needed framing. We were given help to find the frame style and colors that would go well with the room where it would live. The person that helped us was friendly and listened to what we said. We were given options and advice based on what we told him. He was very professional and we never felt rushed or that we were being talked into a certain style. I received the framed piece in 12 days. It is heavy and came with a quality hanging apparatus, not some cheap wire. I know pricing is subjective, but we felt like we got a deal. We were both extremely happy with the final product. This is one of the better poster stores I have come across in a long time. I am very biased, however, because there are a few things that I specifically look for at places like this: 1. Cool greeting cards. (Check.) There was this collection of cards called "Kid Quotes" that cracked me up. In fact, most of the cards here were basically fancy packages for witty quotes. But that is fine by me. 2. Rothko. (Check.) A surprising amount of poster stores have either zero or very few Mark Rothko posters. Aztec Graphics had plenty. 3. Knowledgeable employees. (Unfortunately this is not a check.) The lady who worked here did not know how to pronounce "Basquiat." She even passive aggressively corrected me even though I pronounced it right. You know how people do that, say the same word you just said right after you said it, but over-enunciate it loudly instead of just flat-out telling you "No. Say That like This." I am so impressed with Aztec Graphics! Husband bought me a print (from Orange & Park--google them!) for Christmas and we needed a 24x24 frame. Not your typical size and we looked everywhere locally for one. Orange & Park recommended Aztec Graphics for framing options, as they carry this coveted size. The employees were super friendly and helpful. They showed us the frame options and even framed our print for us. We actually purchased another print and frame combo and they switched out the print we already had for one of a different color, so both prints match.
