The beers are solid I loved the sours. Super dog friendly and the staff are helpful. The space is relaxed with plenty of outdoor seating. I dragged my non-drinking wife and underage kid to this brewery because I REALLY wanted to go and I'm glad they humored me because it was awesome. My non-drinking peeps shared an orange drink in a bottle - they also had root beer. My kid also brought in some custard from across the way. I had the flight of non-IPAs and went back for a crowler to go of Okinawa Potato Diver, which was my fav. I imagine if you're a big IPA fan, you'd be an even bigger fan of this place, since they had a bunch to choose from. It was chilly and windy, but we sat on the rooftop anyhow and the view was amazing. read more

Went with my wife for some time away from the kids while on vacation. We both had a flight so we could each try 4 of their beers. We sat outside and there was a great view of the ocean. They had a musician that evening. We met some really nice people at the next table and ended up closing the place down. This is a really great place to just chill out and drink some good beer. We stopped at this brewery last year and again this year. Great location and setup. Seating is nice inside or outside upstairs. The beer selection is very good. Nice variety and good quality. We tried several beers on site and got a few crowlers to go. Service is attentive, knowledgeable, and friendly. Cool glassware and merch available for purchase. We were driving to pick up food and we ran across this place. I initially stopped in and just purchased two beers and left. The beers were good. But that wasn't good enough for me. I stopped back reviewed the menu and tried four different beers. They were all very good. The Pale Ale, Pilsner Hazy IPA and traditional IPA called Oh, Whale was great. I purchased to cans for the Oh, Whale and Hazy IPA. The Hazy IPA was good but it didn't have that fruitful citrus flavor like the others that I've tasted. The place is very nice inside. They opened a month ago. Limited seating downstairs, there is seating upstairs and outside and on the lower level as well. Great looking place, it's close to the beach and close to where we were staying at. read more

Pretty good beer. My expectation was a place you could grab in and grab a drink, or jump in and grab something to go. Pretty sure you can do the former, but you definitely hit "island time" once you enter. Which, isn't a bad thing. Except, it's more of a "what are you doing on my island" time kinda thing. However... If you get one more slightly less disaffected dude working the counter, service might speed up. Read the room. When you get an indecisive crowd at the counter and your line is stacking, get someone else up there to expedite. The cat sorting glasses can sort later. Finally, always, ALWAYS look the customer in the eye when they're paying, and say "thanks" for them darkening your doorstep. You never know...they might leave a review. Looking over the customer's shoulder like they're keeping you from doing something more important is kinda insulting. Unless there was some roving gang of insurgents about to bust through the door, keep your eyes on the guy that's dropping coin in your purse. Would I go back? Sure. The beer is pretty good. Would I recommend? Yep. Would I sit inside and drink? Nah. I'd get it and go. And, I'd recommend others I know to do the same. read more

They had a variety of selections including a "Sweltzer" that someone in my party said they could drink a gallon of. Along with their tap selections they carry a few canned options including Hard Kombucha. Want a brew to go? Swells'a offers their tap options in a 32oz Crowler for you to enjoy at a later time. Snacks are available for purchase if you need a little something to satisfy your munchies. Outside they have actual grass. Cornhole boards are set up off to the side so you don't have to listen to bags slapping wood along with a mini Disc Golf hole to occupy time while enjoying your tasty beverage. We all got excited a few years ago with the Brewing Station opening and then were sorely dissappointed by the wide selection of the incredibly overpowered West Coast hopped IPA's. Swells'a fields a wide variety of VERY flavorful, on-site brewed beverages served in a casual!, beachy environs. Upper deck seating with ocean view; beach themed bar area; fireplace huddle area. We drove past here on the way to our vacation beach house and knew we had to make it back. Almost all of us did flights to try a little bit of everything. My brother got the Bean Jumper, which was a great dark beer with hints of coffee and cocoa. I also loved this one. They had some great IPAs, but everyone's favorite was the Smokin Toobies, which finished off with a truly smokey flavor. The Flotsam Pineapple and Aloha Neighbor were crisp lighter beers that were easy to drink. If you like a Hefeweizen, then you would love the Aloha Neighbor--it was my favorite. They have an awesome outdoor space with games and a rooftop bar that you can see the ocean from. They have snacks from local restaurants, but it looked like you can bring in your own food too. It's a great new addition to Nags Head! read more

HAPPY ANNIVERSARY!!! Visiting on the one year anniversary was fun! This was our first visit and absolutely won't be our last. We walked in and were immediately greeted by the staff. When you walk in, there is a merch stand along the wall and in the glass cases. There is also some tables to hangout hangout at on the right side as well. The building has a TON of seating options outside and inside. Tons of fun. The beer selection is unique and fun. Lucky for us, with the anniversary, there will be a celebration in the evening that we plan to come back to. Thank you for a positive, clean, and fun first experience. I was there the day they opened... And have been coming back as often as possible... Like today... They are constantly challenging themselves to come up with interesting new brews.. BUT they don't go the way of what I call froofroo beers.. You know, rasberry nutmeg blah, blah, blah... And in all that time I can honestly say they have always come up with winners....There is no staff.. There are lots of friends on the other side of the bar... And.. they give back to the community wherever and whenever they can... Loved the root beer and the pretzel! My husband loved the beer and atmosphere! Great place to sit and have a cool beer after a long day at the beach. Right across the street from the waves and next door to the worlds most awesome tie dye experience, Island Dyes! Seating is everywhere and very comfortable. There is an upstairs outdoor deck and downstairs fenced yard that is pet friendly so bring your doggo. Best new spot at the beach! read more

I wish I got two of those. The seating was amazing with their cooktop lounge. Beautiful views of the Atlantic and the hustle and bustle of the locals. I was really surprised they only had two single bathrooms (male and female). I can't imagine what that's like when it gets really busy. Very crowded on a rainy, in-season afternoon. German Pils was spot on. Aloha Pale Ale was very citrusy and delicious. Hazy IPA was too bitter for the style. Brown ale could have a touch more dark malt, though still well done. Very limited seating available. read more
