I've been coming here for years and Van has always gotten my cuticles right! This shop is a nice family owned business located right next to the LBX plaza. I don't really know much about nails and the difference between powder, gel, and all that, but I always see customers walk out happy. This was my first visit which was based on seeing good reviews, however it was a far cry from what is reported by so called Elite Yelpers. Walked in at 1pm on Friday as they were servicing ONE customer with the rest of the place empty. One of the nail techs was taking her dog out the door, yes a DOG in a nail shop. She seemed annoyed right away with my presence and request for a full set and pedi, and instead of taking the dog out as she clearly intended as I walked in, turned and penned it behind a gate in their back room, told me to have a seat failed to wash her hands before running my water and proceeding to stick her hands in the water to test the temp, grabbed her cart and sat down to take my nail polish off. The dog started barking which didnt bother me, but clearly bothered her, so she let the dog loose in the shop. The dog immediately came up to me and licked my leg (i love dogs by the way so i wasnt annoyed with the dog itself but concerned with how sanitary it could be to have a dog in a nail shop). The dog then clearly wanted to play with the nail tech and in the middle of taking my polish off, the tech started to distract the dog with one of the towels meant to be used for my pedi. This is when I started to get very concerned and annoyed with the lack of professionalism and cleanliness of this shop. I felt like i should have gotten up at that moment and walked out, but against my gut instinct i stayed in the chair and it only got worse. -she had to be asked not to cut my toenails too deep on the sides which has caused me ingrown toe nails which i now have learned not to let them do and just cut myself -the other nail tech came over and did my full set but was immediatly irritated when i asked him not to use the drill instead of a basic nail file and argued "how will the tip stay on i have never heard of such a thing" so i just shut up and let him use the dirty drill on my bare nail -he never washed his or my hands through the entire thing, i asked him to please tend to my cuticles which he said ok after, which makes no sense, again i shut up and didnt argue with him -the nails came out OK but they are thick, square and sloppy looking -at the end i asked him arent you going to do my cuticles, because he had rushed over to tend to their next customer who was clearly a regular and he told the nail tech with the dog in another language to handle it for me which she said to him in english "she wanted it done before not after" -they both seem to not enjoy working with each other and created a very uncomfortable vibe to be a customer of - i will never visit this nail salon again Update 4 days later and behold, my cuticles look disgusting just as I knew they would because the nail tech acted like he forgot that I requested he tend to them. I could have done a better job myself. read more

This place is great!! I love how the ladies are so honest and transparent with what you want, and are very meticulous in their work. Theyre very good at shaping nails, and making sure that it's perfect. I like that they drill and file underneath the nail tips after applying the acrylic powder to get rid of any dried acrylic clumps that get caught underneath. Its such a pet peeve of mine when its just left behind and i have to deal with knowing theres a lump there under my nail. Design wise they are also very detailed and transparent as well. The blue on my left hand got messed up while being painted and she fixed it for me immediately, and when drawing the stripes she couldnt get it just right, so Ivy (i think?) came over and did it to make sure it was perfect. Overall great experience, super kind ladies, definitely will be coming back again!!! Highly recommend!!!! read more

Today was my 1st time ever going to Sweet Paradise nail salon. I called and made an appointment with Ivy however when i got there Ivy had another lady named Dawn do my nails. I was worried because all the reviews for acrylic nails mention Ivy. I just needed a fill and 1 nail fixed so i didn't want to drive to my nail salon in Costa Mesa but I'm very picky with my nails so i always research before i go to a new shop. I'm very happy with my nails. Dawn did a great job. She is new to this shop but i can tell she has been doing nails for many years. She was fast yet detail oriented and my nails are perfect. I would say the establishment should have 2 $$ signs. They aren't overly pricey but they aren't cheap. The service i got was great so i would return. Ask for Dawn, she's sweet and does and great job. One of my nails broke the same day and i was charged $4 to have it repaired. It should have been free. My 5 star turned into 3.5 read more

Came to this salon as it's right next to work. I called in advance and was seen within five minutes. Cuticle trimming was very good. I asked her not to buff the top of nails and she was cooperative with that. Things started to take a negative turn when she started filing my nails down. She was somewhat rough when filing down my nails. As she filed them down she went back and forth with the nail file and did not go back in the same direction in the end. The tips of my nails felt brittle and I will probably chip within a week because of that. She did not notice this. Lastly, I asked for them to be squared down and a majority of them appear crooked Next for the color application she asked me to pay first as to not mess up the color which I felt happy that she had thought about. She had only applied two coats but the polish was nowhere near opaque as it should be and I asked her to apply another coat which caught her off guard. Next, noticeable bubbling formed on a few of my nails and she noticed as well as she checked them but made no attempt at correcting them. After a shopping trip to Walmart last weekend, I decided to hit up Sweet Paradise Nails to get my current gel manicure removed, and get a new one. I called to make an appointment, and the lady asked what I wanted, so I said the aforementioned, and that was that. I arrived in the plaza (had never been over there before) and there was plenty of parking. I walked inside, and the first thing I noticed was how small/dim it was. It's a very tiny salon with not much room, but at least 3-4 pedicure stations and about 4 manicure stations. I was welcomed quickly, and was immediately sat down to get my gel removed by a very young woman who I only presumed to be in high school or something, who was just kickin' it in the salon with her parents or aunts. She was a little rough with the removal and grazed my skin more than twice. She got some cotton and dabbed some alcohol on it and stuck it to my finger and put it inside one of those caps. Problem with that was that there was a lot of alcohol and I could feel it running down my forearm. I ended up just adjusting and sitting with my hands facing downwards instead of flat on the table. After that got removed, I then got switched to another lady. She took off all my gel polish. She was really nice and kind and asked me some questions about my life, asked me my name, etc. I was having a good time by then. Then, she took out the nail clippers and just started clipping all of my nails without me asking her to or having a discussion about the length. Then she asked me "what shape I wanted," and I was kinda confused because all my nails were gone but i said square, and she ended up taking out the plastic/fake nails. I told her that wasn't want I wanted, and she was like "OH. You want another gel manicure? Ahhhhhh" and then she told me to move to another table. So I apologized several times, grabbed my stuff, and moved to the third table. I told the lady here what I wanted, and she was by far the nicest lady that day. She was fast, efficient, and helped me choose my design. I ended up with pink nails with a silver/gold ombre. It wasn't the neatest/prettiest I've had before, but it still looks good. It's been 1 week since I've gotten it, and there are two chips on my right hand which is a bummer, but left hand is good as new. She even gave me a short little arm massage when she was done with my nails. Overall, kind of a weird experience. There is zero to little ambiance in the store--chipped paint, exposed circuits, weird lighting, etc. I've never had to transfer to 3 diff people either. Not the greatest, but certainly not the worst. read more

They open at 9:30 AM!!! Not 9am like the card says. Came here for the first time. I got gel polish with diamond designs on there and it only cost me $20!!! The ladies were nice and friendly. The service was good and fast. I didn't make an appointment so I came right when it opened and no one was there even when I left. So I applaud them for their good service and cheap price. But I wish they would update their time on their business card. Another thing, they let me chose a gel color from a variety of nails. I chose a color which was like an off soft white. And then the lady went to the back to get the color and when she put it on me, it was kind of baby pink. The color was not like the sample color at all. My original full set was done somewhere else and It seems they had made them extra thick which wasn't as pretty. My friend and I were looking for a place to do our nails at the last minute that was inexpensive and we discovered this place on Yelp and it was only a couple blocks away from us. There was street parking but the day wasn't busy so it wasn't hard to find. We were greeted by two of the staff, Tina and Vicky (I believe her name was...though I do know her Vietnamese name is Hanh). They had appointments coming up so they were nice to let us know to come back in two hours so that they could take care of us. We weren't pressed for time so we were fine with that and walked across the street to eat lunch and then went to Walmart. Anyways, when we came back, they prepped the foot spa for us and got us situated in the warm foot bath and got the massage chair going (I love it already!). My friend and I wanted a gel manicure and regular pedicure. Both ladies were super nice and made conversation the entire time. They were gentle and gave us a proper foot scrub and massage. I appreciated that they took their time to cut and paint our nails. They weren't rushing and doing sloppy work even though there was another customer at the door. They were very thorough! Tina did both of our gel manicures and she was very good! She also took the time the scrub our hands with the soapy beads, massaged, lotioned, and added cuticle oil to our fingers after it was all done. My friend and I were both happy with the results. I also appreciated the sign that they had saying that customer satisfaction is their priority and if you were unhappy with what they did then they would gladly fix it for you! Fantastic! I had a long layover at Long Beach Airport and badly needed a mani-pedi. I took a chance and came here. The owner has an absolutely wonderful personality! They were so upbeat here! I was able to get a beautiful mani, pedi AND brow wax! BONUS!! I came in with a pretty messy set from a different salon that I tolerated for two weeks, and Johnny fixed them up and reshaped them. The salon is clean and they ask each client to wash their hands prior to your service which I appreciate. He also used clean tools and cleaned his reusable tools thoroughly.
