My visits to European Wax Center (EWC) are quite rare, like once every year or maybe even two. I've…read morenoticed once per year, they always put out a promo where you can get 50% off a new service, where "new service" is defined as any service that you have not received within the past 12 months. In this most recent case, I hadn't gone in two years, so really, any service would have been considered "new" to me. I went with the Brazilian Wax, which I did two years ago, and also tacked on an eyebrow wax because when in Rome. Or somewhere else in Europe I suppose? lol There are only two wax specialists at the Long Beach Towne Center location who can do Brazilian Wax on men: Millie and Brianne. I actually had Millie as my waxing specialist on a visit back in 2022, and while I thought she was good enough for me to recommend to others, I wanted to see how Brianne would compare. Immediately after I made my appointment, I gave them a call to see if the 50% off could be applied to the Brazilian Wax. Terrace (sp?) over the phone fielded my call and, initially, stated that since I had gotten the Brazilian Wax before, I couldn't use the 50% off on that. However, she immediately retracted her statement before I could say something when she realized that my last Brazilian Wax was way more than 12 months ago. I had forgotten about this until the evening before, but there are some check-in forms you need to fill out prior to your arrival, or if you neglected to do so, I'm sure they would have asked you to fill them out before your appointment. I arrived about 20 minutes before my scheduled appointment time and spent the next 10 minutes exploring the adjacent businesses. When I came in, Aaliyah at the front desk greeted me by name. What?! I suppose it's because there aren't too many male customers of European Wax Center, but that was kind of cool, yet also a little creepy lol. It took 5 to 10 minutes before Brianne called me back into one of the rooms. I personally would have preferred to do the eyebrow wax first since that seemed to be easier, but she said we were going to do the Brazilian Wax first instead. I had the Brazilian Wax done a couple of times before, so I kind of knew what to expect, but man, it still hurt, even though I was expecting it to hurt a little more. Brianne wasn't bad, but I didn't really get good vibes from her since her demeanor was quite sassy during my appointment. She also didn't really give me any warning as to when she would pull the wax off my skin, and when she was doing my eyebrow wax, I legit thought she was going to poke one of my eyes despite her telling me to relax my eyes. But nevertheless, she did a good job of waxing. Before she took me back to the lobby, she reminded me that I shouldn't exfoliate for a couple of days after my wax, and she also asked if I'd like to purchase any products prior to leaving, to which I declined. When I came back to the front to pay for my services, I was about to put my card into the reader, but Aaliyah said they had my card on file, so I didn't even need to take my card out of my wallet. Interesting, but I also hope they don't charge me for something I didn't approve beforehand. Actually, they did schedule an appointment for exactly four weeks later at the exact same time at the exact same location. Now that, I would not approve since this was my rare Wednesday afternoon off, and with how my schedule has been this year, I doubt I would have been able to make it, in time at least. So I simply told Aaliyah to cancel since I myself wouldn't even know when would be the next available time, though truthfully, I was never planning to go for the remainder of the year unless I get another discount lol. Let's face it, waxing is pretty pricey, but a good experience to try if you haven't! I left, but then returned shortly when I noticed I didn't get an email receipt that confirmed my payment. I asked Aaliyah, and she was gracious enough to send not one, but two copies of my email receipt; they just came in rather late. The day after my appointment, I received an email from EWC giving some tips on what to do and what not to do after the appointment. Besides the unauthorized future appointment, which I did confirm online was no longer booked, the receptionists at the front desk deserve 5 stars. But neither Millie nor Brianne impressed me enough to want to do a Brazilian Wax here again, unless they hire a different wax specialist by next year. I think 4 stars is fair, but I would likely choose a different location next time.

The wax technicians are absolutely amazing; they're skilled and make the entire experience as comfortable as possible. In terms of services, I always opt for the playboy bikini wax. I've been waxed by just about every gal in the shop and I would honestly recommend any one of them. The service is relatively quick (about 30 minutes). Time seems to fly by because the conversations are always a high point of the service. The gals at TAOW could teach gynecologists a thing or two about making a girl feel comfortable while being exposed. On top of that, the pricing is affordable, especially considering the high quality of the service. It's rare to find a business that offers both great value and such a personal touch. If you're looking for a waxing spot that truly cares about its clients and delivers outstanding results, this is the place to go! Don't forget to tip your waxer. Waxer was nice, but you could tell she didn't want to be there and that the early morning appointment was an inconvenience to her. Constant yawning and saying it's too early to be here. Lacks professionalism. I left with wax, baby powder, and still portions of my leg with hair on it (like literally missed my whole inner thigh and outer thigh). I walked out of the room and told her I still had wax on me and she just apologized and didn't take me back into the room to remove it. Wax all over the trash bins, floors dirty, and baseboards with who knows what all over. To add onto that, when it was time for me to turn over on my stomach, there was still wax on my leg which ripped the paper lining I was laying on & I could see old blood stains on the cloth under. At that moment, I seriously should have walked out and left. I still left a tip but needs serious improvement as I expected more from a service that has 4.8 stars on Yelp. Avoid if you value cleanliness, etiquette, and overall have high expectations. Will be returning back to my previous waxer.

My wife and I have been coming to Polish'd for years--this place has become part of our routine, and honestly, it never disappoints. From day one, the quality has been top-tier and somehow, it just keeps getting better. The entire staff is so kind and talented. They take their time, they're super detailed, and the vibe inside is always so chillingg. Everyone makes you feel like you're in good hands the second you walk in. Big shout-out to Sofia, the manager--she's amazing. Always welcoming, always professional, and you can just tell how much she loves what she does. She creates such a positive atmosphere, and it reflects in the team and the service. And okay, I've got to say it--my wife's nails always come out looking incredible. Like, every single time. Whether she's going for something classy or fun and bold, they absolutely nail it (I had to). We're loyal for a reason. Can't recommend Polish'd enough--it's hands down the best salon we've ever been to!!! read more

I have been coming to Eric for the last two years. His work is great but if he's in a bad mood that means you won't have the best service plus an attitude. I went in today to get my nails done and I asked for a fill. Unfortunately because the last time he did then he was in a very bad mood and rushed them with an attitude as well the ended up breaking. He got so upset and annoyed why I didn't warn him that I need a new set. Well I made an appointment and I am coming to do my nails so you have to respect that and do the job because you are getting paid and not free. It's so upset to be treated this way. Not to mention he did the full set not the way I wanted and did it literally within 45 mins !!! Wowwww I messaged him to tell him and he just didn't care to fix this issue and care about his customer. He doesn't seem to care about it. Instead of fixing this issue so he won't lose a customer. read more

AVOID THIS SHOP********…read more I came into this nail shop at 11am for nails and a pedicure. The older man told me he would start with my nails first. He sat me down and started a soak-off, and while that was finishing, what I assume is a "regular" walked in around 11:13am and asked, "should I come back later?" since there were already about 6 people being serviced. He told her no, to sit at another table, and then got up and left me mid-service to go help her. Mind you, I only had gel on, so it's a soak-off with acetone and then drill off the rest. He started servicing her and never came back to me or communicated anything, he just walked away. Around 11:18, another lady noticed that the man just left me mid service and moved me to a pedicure chair and started my pedicure. After a while, the man finally came back to continue on my nails. I politely asked him to remove the aluminum foil, and he said he would finish doing my nails, but at that point I declined service based on how everything was handled. The other lady told me he "had an appointment," but I don't believe that was the case because she had just walked in and asked if she should come back later, not that she was there for a scheduled appointment. Overall, it was just handled very poorly. I come here when I'm in the area, and my partner is a regular customer, but after this experience, we both won't be coming back. My nails are naturally short, brittle, and constantly breaking, so I told my manicurist about my struggles and asked what she recommended. She suggested Gel X and took the time to explain the whole process, including how fills work. Honestly, I really appreciated that because I didn't know much about Gel X going in! It was my first time getting Gel X, and Mimi did an amazing job! I showed her an inspo picture, and she totally made it happen. The whole appointment took about 2 hours, but the attention to detail was worth it. For pricing, the Gel X was $60, plus $30 for the nail art/design, so I paid around $90 before tip. The atmosphere was nice and relaxing, and overall it felt like a great little birthday treat. I'm definitely coming back for a fill and already know I'll be getting Gel X again. Mimi understood the assignment!

I had a chipped toenail that I paid an extra $5 to have repaired, but it cracked again the very next day. I called the shop and spoke with a gentleman who was very kind and told me to come in and they would fix it--no problem. I came in at 9 AM before work, expecting a quick repair. Instead, I was met with a completely different experience. The technician made me feel uncomfortable from the start, as if I had done something wrong. Even after showing my receipt, I was asked to wait while she and her coworkers sat and ate. After waiting, she told me it would be another 10 minutes. I explained I had to get to work and that I had already paid full price and tipped $10 just two days prior--I simply needed the repair done. When she finally helped me, the fix felt rushed and careless. She layered on a thick amount of gel, tapped it briefly with a file, and said "OK" without any real care or attention. This was my third time visiting, and unfortunately it will be my last. The lack of professionalism and basic customer service is disappointing. I expected better treatment, especially as a returning customer.
