One of the best bakeries, always fresh and tasty cakes. Hazelnut meringue raspberry cake and Napoleon are the best.

    Review Highlights - Sweet-O-One

The meringue is perfectly crunchy, and the raspberry tartness perfectly balanced against the sweetness.

You have to get through to nearly 45% of the bun to get to the custard. I think I'm used to the better value that you can get at bakeries in less central locations.

We stopped by a couple times while in Toronto and while we were impressed initially, realized there were much better elsewhere. I nabbed the last pineapple bun with butter since it seemed highly coveted, as well as a normal pineapple bun. The pineapple bun has great flavor but tended to be a little dry. The butter helped a lot, but the bun without butter lacked the moisture - although maybe it was because we didn't buy it fresh in the morning? The trend with the pineapple bun does seem to be that the bread itself is a little dry but the ones with fillings, such as chasiu or butter, gives it the moisture it needs. The egg tarts were standard. Not bad but nothing special - and not something I would come back for. I also got a wife pastry that was not very good. Price wise, it's definitely a little steep. But it may be worth to not having to drive in poor weather to get to Markham or Richmond Hill. I do recommend coming in the morning while the pastries and buns are still fresh - it does seem to be better during the day versus at night.

My favourite though, has to be the classic, butter croissant. I picked up a strawberry short cake for a family dinner, and oh my gosh, it was so yummy. The cake was made out of layers of chiffon cake (super light and airy) and a delicious whipped cream with strawberries pieces nestled between the layers. I've only done take out there, but they do have a small area with seating, including space outdoors for warmer months. The service is good, staff are friendly and efficient. Even if there's a line, you're not really waiting that long. The location is easy to get to from Finch Station, but if you're traveling by car, parking may be a bit tough to find, though there is street parking and a paid lot a couple blocks further north by the TTC lot.

The space is not big but there some limited seating. The display cases are at the far end of the store and if there is a lineup it will be hard to see what is available unless you get closer to the cash area and if this is your first time here and don't know what is available it might take a bit to decide. The coveted Dubai Chewy cookie sits next to the cash area. You can get a box of 4 or singles. We got a box of 4, with tax....just over 27 bucks. Was it worth it? I would say YES! The coating was soft and chewy with a generous amount of filling with the kataifi giving a nice crunch. This is definitely a treat.

The only odd thing is the outlet situation--it's a bit chaotic--so it's not exactly the best spot if you're planning to camp there with a laptop and pretend to be productive. On that first visit, I ordered the rice dacquoise and, to be honest, it kind of spooked me. I think I was expecting something like a macaron with whipped cream in the middle, but it was much lighter and softer than that. My brain didn't quite know how to process it. A few months later, I ended up coming back because I desperately needed a late evening coffee and the nearby Togo Coffee was closed. And wow, Luna Bakery makes excellent espresso drinks & I was not expecting that. The latte was incredibly creamy, nutty, and subtly sweet, with all that sweetness coming naturally from the perfectly roasted beans. Every sip felt like a small trip to caffeine paradise. I also gave the rice dacquoise another shot - this time the strawberry one - and suddenly it made sense lol. Light, slightly fruity, a little tangy, and perfect with the coffee. Now I enjoy coming back - partly for the coffee, and partly because my taste buds have finally learned to appreciate the rice pastries instead of being spooked by them. Service is always friendly - they never judge you for trying way too many free rice bakery samples. Bless.

I'm a huge fan of Korean rice cakes, and thought this was a great fresh, unique injeolmi. Not too sweet, tossed in black sesame, I thoroughly enjoyed it, and was enough to share and more! Service ~ fast, friendly, efficient. Exactly what a cute, busy, coffee shop needs. There is outdoor seating, limited. Pay for parking on streets or side streets.

When I inquired about the other ones, which their menu lists 42 different kinds by the way, I was told that's all they have right now and "maybe" will have more flavors later in the day. So I ordered a sea salt, salted egg yolk and golden cheese. These croissants are best eaten right away. When left for even a few hours, they start to go stale. They are just ok for me. The salted egg yolk filling was only on one half of the croissant. It was not distributed evenly. The golden cheese had 2 types of cheese, one on top and one in the filling. The sea salt was just hard when I got to eating it a few hours later. I was looking forward to trying their cubed croissants but maybe I'll try a bigger location next time.
