Yum! Best napoleon ive had! Flaky and not too sweet
Rovelyne P.

Without being influenced by other reviews here first, I saw this bakery right after eating lunch at a restaurant in the same plaza. Review is solely based on the pastries we got. Napoleon Cake - very flakey, not overly sweet and quite a slice and was good for sharing for 2. 'Opera' sliced pastry - appears to taste like mocha, or cappuccino. Not overly sweet which we liked as well. The only downside is that the prices are not posted for the pastry so it's all a surprise once you get to the counter. Overall, total came up to $8.80 for two which was not bad! Would honestly come back to try others but would definitely buy Napoleon cake again.

Tasty desserts with fair prices. Unfortunately the napoleon I got was a bit stale but all the desserts tasted good and wasn't to sweet. Will come again!

Ok I was not expecting this. After I've heard from colleagues and the review, I figured out I will give it a try since I am in the area every week. It was a mistake - for my weight!!! The dessert is decent, a bit of disappointment because I have high expectations. So why the high stars? The buttery cookies! I ate a jar myself in 2 days, and I craved for more! So I went again and buy another jar, and another.... Boy it is good. And yea they also sell my favourite tea there! For those of you on diet, be warned!

Opera (coffee/chocolate). Very tasty!

People who work here are ANGELS! No matter when I drop by I am greeted by these beautiful souls in a welcoming way. The desserts are delicious and the prices are surprising given the quality. My family and many of our friends are regular customers. There are also seats for indoor seating (when the pandemic is over).

Horrible horrible customer service. Rude and not accommodating. Sad looking birthday cake and won't do anything about it.

WILL RUIN YOUR BIRTHDAY!!! See also other reviews below!!! WORST EXPERIENCE EVER. DO NOT BUY HERE. This was supposed to be a celebratory cake for my birthday. It usually comes with lots of decoration including white chocolate flakes but this time they just omitted it. When I called they said there's nothing they can do about it. They ended up spoiling some of the birthday celebration experience and the customer service was just horrible. Who behaves like that to their customers??? Also I asked for extra custard but I was rudely told that there's enough custard and how dare I even ask for more. Update: after writing this review the woman taking the orders called me to let me know that "they have my number" and also I got this email: thank you for review on Yelp We wish you to have only good experience in other places All the best dear Chocolada team Instead of trying to right their wrong they just continue to bully you! All I wanted was a happy birthday celebration. Instead o got threats and abhorrent behavior!

Meringue.  Gluten free. $28
Raquel G.

For Cakes I give this place a 5/5 for quality and price. My *gluten free* cake from here was a great surprise, my s/o got it from here after another place he tried to order from didn't make the cake he ordered. With 1 day left he called here (you should give 2 days for custom orders) and they did it in time and saved the situation. The cake was a meringue , layers of cream and crispy bits layer that looked like crumbs but it melted in your mouth. There were raspberries and blueberries also layered in. Tasted very light and looks nicely rustic. My family, who isn't gluten free and doesn't like creamy cakes loved it, I couldn't stop them from eating all of my cake. I uploaded a photo of it, and will make next purchase here. Thanks !

Pistachio eclairs
Bianca A.

Mother in law lives in the area and the pistachio eclairs passes her critical radar with flying colors. 10 years as a customer at this joint proves I still aim to please the inlaws, (especially hubby's mom) during famjams! Their store is a bit outdated and looks abandoned and old from outside. The inside is clean and has about 3 tables and the desserts are displayed neatly. They also sell specialty jams and other candies and chocolates. It is beside the Xe Lua resto(which is another fave place to get my pho fix) so we kill two birds with one stone whenever we are in the area. Russian desserts are quite delightful when you want to indulge without having to reach for water after every few bites. My daughter loves the meringue and my sweet tooth craves for the pistachio eclairs-highly recommended! 6 eclairs and 1 meringue came up to a total of $18+ so I think it's quite cheap compared to other specialty shops. The consistent great taste also raises the value and you do get your money's worth. Everyone looks forward to dessert and I think Chocolada just gets it! I have yet to try their cakes. To be continued for sure...

Delicious baked goods--tried a tart and the rocher cake. The cake prices are better than other comparable prices. Also, lovely people.

We stopped by a couple times while in Toronto and while we were impressed initially, realized there were much better elsewhere. I nabbed the last pineapple bun with butter since it seemed highly coveted, as well as a normal pineapple bun. The pineapple bun has great flavor but tended to be a little dry. The butter helped a lot, but the bun without butter lacked the moisture - although maybe it was because we didn't buy it fresh in the morning? The trend with the pineapple bun does seem to be that the bread itself is a little dry but the ones with fillings, such as chasiu or butter, gives it the moisture it needs. The egg tarts were standard. Not bad but nothing special - and not something I would come back for. I also got a wife pastry that was not very good. Price wise, it's definitely a little steep. But it may be worth to not having to drive in poor weather to get to Markham or Richmond Hill. I do recommend coming in the morning while the pastries and buns are still fresh - it does seem to be better during the day versus at night.

My favourite though, has to be the classic, butter croissant. I picked up a strawberry short cake for a family dinner, and oh my gosh, it was so yummy. The cake was made out of layers of chiffon cake (super light and airy) and a delicious whipped cream with strawberries pieces nestled between the layers. I've only done take out there, but they do have a small area with seating, including space outdoors for warmer months. The service is good, staff are friendly and efficient. Even if there's a line, you're not really waiting that long. The location is easy to get to from Finch Station, but if you're traveling by car, parking may be a bit tough to find, though there is street parking and a paid lot a couple blocks further north by the TTC lot.

The display cases are at the far end of the store and if there is a lineup it will be hard to see what is available unless you get closer to the cash area and if this is your first time here and don't know what is available it might take a bit to decide. The coveted Dubai Chewy cookie sits next to the cash area. You can get a box of 4 or singles. We got a box of 4, with tax....just over 27 bucks. Was it worth it? I would say YES! The coating was soft and chewy with a generous amount of filling with the kataifi giving a nice crunch. This is definitely a treat.

The only odd thing is the outlet situation--it's a bit chaotic--so it's not exactly the best spot if you're planning to camp there with a laptop and pretend to be productive. On that first visit, I ordered the rice dacquoise and, to be honest, it kind of spooked me. I think I was expecting something like a macaron with whipped cream in the middle, but it was much lighter and softer than that. My brain didn't quite know how to process it. A few months later, I ended up coming back because I desperately needed a late evening coffee and the nearby Togo Coffee was closed. And wow, Luna Bakery makes excellent espresso drinks & I was not expecting that. The latte was incredibly creamy, nutty, and subtly sweet, with all that sweetness coming naturally from the perfectly roasted beans. Every sip felt like a small trip to caffeine paradise. I also gave the rice dacquoise another shot - this time the strawberry one - and suddenly it made sense lol. Light, slightly fruity, a little tangy, and perfect with the coffee. Now I enjoy coming back - partly for the coffee, and partly because my taste buds have finally learned to appreciate the rice pastries instead of being spooked by them. Service is always friendly - they never judge you for trying way too many free rice bakery samples. Bless.

I'm a huge fan of Korean rice cakes, and thought this was a great fresh, unique injeolmi. Not too sweet, tossed in black sesame, I thoroughly enjoyed it, and was enough to share and more! The salted egg yolk filling was only on one half of the croissant. It was not distributed evenly. The golden cheese had 2 types of cheese, one on top and one in the filling.
