    Bundtlet - Strawberries and cream
    Sam A.

YUMMMM!!! My new obsession. First time trying them was the same day I decided to get my bestie a dozen for her bday. I easily ordered the same day 2-3 hours before the pick-up time I chose. Ordering online was super easy. My order was ready when I got there and I decided to get a strawberries and cream bundtlet and confetti bundtlet for my bf and I to try. They were both sooooo good! The cakes are perfectly moist and the icing is perfect and actually tastes like cheesecake frosting. This was my bestie's first time trying them too and she loved the vanilla and peanut butter Reese one! It was $36.55 for the dozen bundtinis which I think is super affordable! They're not super small either. I think this would defs be a better value than a dozen cupcakes from anywhere. So, overall everyone loved them and now I can't wait to go back and try all the other flavours, especially carrot! Oh and they don't have any cutlery on site, unfortunately, but I didn't mind using my hands lol.

Pcked up a snickerdoodle bundtlet. Topped with some yummy cream cheese frosting. The cake was fresh and tasted amazing.

Service was good. Lots of flavours to choose from and different sizes offered. And decor in store was cute.

Sadly wasn't that impressed with the Bundt/cupcakes. The cake part was VERY dense, not really the texture that a Bundt cake should be.

We walked in and I was immediately impressed by how vast and spotless the place was. This is one enormous place. There's a ton of seating in the main area, and if that's not enough, there's a whole other seating area around the corner. Everything looked really tasty but we decided to try a couple of savory pastries, both of which were delicious and fresh. For my drink, I went with the Vanilla Sweet Cream Cold Brew ("Cold brew coffee with vanilla and topped with sweet cream"), which certainly quenched my thirst and need for a pick-me-up. I want to single out the staff, too. Everybody was super friendly and helpful, and the manager even stopped by our table and offered our daughter a complimentary bear-shaped madeleine. Paris Baguette is a very welcome addition to the neighborhood. We'll definitely be returning.

They have deli sandwiches in their fridge and the Harvest Chicken sandwich was delicious. The Mochi donuts are a good atyempt and mimicing their asian counterparts but was way too greasy. The traditional sugared twist was better. They also have full barista services and lots of seating. Great place to pick up something for a dinner party as they have lovely boxes and present well. Staff was very friendly. Prices are steeper than other local bakeries so keep this in mind.

The Hot Oven has really changed and not for the better. Their cookies were to die for. I used to…read morebring my grandmother a dozen sorted every Friday. They were buttery and delicious. Now you taste some kind of oil instead of all butter. It has a barnyard under flavour. The spinach quiche is completely tasteless except for the crust that has that same disgusting taste. Same for the apple pie. The Orange Chiffon cake and Flans are still good. I guess with Hunt's and Women's Bakeries long gone, they don't have the same competition. However Metro makes a really good deep dish apple pie and Dimpflemeir's is great place to get custard tarts, cheesecakes, Napoleons and lots of fancy desserts that are made with quality fresh ingredients.

When I moved back to Toronto a few years ago, i noticed you were different. not only did you multiply and now exist in the Kingsway and Bloor West Village, but you are also a lot cheaper and of less quality!!!! So here I am in the Hot Oven bakery today. I've noticed that the ingredients used in their traditional winners have made the products taste different. Somebody tipped me off that they changed ownership a few years ago, which is probably when they changed ingredients...you can tell that the stuff they use now is a lot cheaper. For instance, the meat pies have a darker crust (lard in the crust, perhaps???) and the meat is fattier. Those meat pies were to-die-for in the olden days. The classic orange chiffon cake is also darker in colour. Not sure what they are using, but it has also changed a bit in taste...... No longer do they give out free cookies to the kiddies like I remember. And, today, they had the nerve to CHARGE ME to write "MELODY" on a cake. 5 cents per letter. WHA??????????????????? I told the lady at the cashier that i have been coming there for 30 years and they have never charged to write birthday messages on the cake. She told me "it is a labour charge". WHA????? 30 cents??? Craziness....a great way to tick off your longstanding customers and for what???? A mere few cents? i don't get it. Oh Old Hot Oven of days past...I miss you!!!!!!
