LOVE, LOVE, LOVE KWAN! Kwan/Kwanie is THE BEST! She has been doing my nails since 2000 when I found her at a brand new salon. Out of necessity, many others have done my nails when she wasn't available. Nevertheless, Kwan has always been my favorite go-to gal. I was ecstatic to find her at Sweet Nails; she and Karen make an excellent team. Kwan's work is efficient & expertise, and she never lets me make a bad decision about my nails. She knows what looks good because she is the expert. That's why I always tell her "you're the boss!" Funny enough, in my early years with Kwan, I found her to be bossy and moody sometimes --but the quality of her work has never failed. Apparently this salon is under new management and I will have to say it was the best manicure pedicure I have ever had =) the lavender pedicure was amazing with hot stones and towels. Went there a week ago and within 48 hours my nails were coming off. My cuticles were cut at least eight times during filing. My friend had a pretty good job done with her but her nails are starting to separate from the bed. Like an air pocket or something. I would say keep looking for a place. read more

I feel like I got the best nail tech! I have been so disappointed the past few manicures I have gotten, but not today! You sit in a recliner and get a massage! Everything is so comfortable and fun! I would give less then 1 star if it was available!!!! Do not go here!! I wear gel polish and just went there for a color change. They did not soak my nails long enough and then they used a emery board to file off the rest of the polish! My nails are so thin now, they are like paper! I have already had 4 of them break. My girl took a tool that she used on someone else and put alcohol on it and used it on me and that was it....And the girl who did my nails Kwanie actually confronted me about my tip. So I'm not an avid reviewer but my recent development requires a warning to other potential customers. I have used this shop for my pedicures for the summer months of 2014, the customer service is soso at best the foot and shoulder messages are amazing! But attention to detail is not a factor for them, my polish never looked professionally done and the filing was never even across the "board" :/ and the MAIN reason I will never go back...I can't ever recall seeing them clean the pedi tubs, with a soap and disinfectant like barbercide. And with that said for the first time in my 10+ years of getting pedicure I got a toe fungus!!!! Of course there is no way to prove that this is where I got it, but I don't run barefoot in any public places and I don't use any kind of community showers :/ so save your feet and choose another shop!!! I live in San Francisco and pay less for much better quality. $30 for a pedicure that was rushed, sloppy and already chipped the day after?! Shoulder massage was very painful! This place is awful. I was in last Sunday for a shellac and pedicure. The pedicure was OK, but the manicure was the worst I've ever had. The woman was rough on my cuticles, to the point two fingers bled. If that wasn't bad enough, she did a terrible job on the shellac and put three coats of color on, and the paint got dinged between passes in the UV. When I politely pointed out she didn't buff the nail surface before starting and that the polish was dinged and would likely chip because it wasn't being done right, she was rude. She got who I assume is the manager who told me I'd have to come back another day to get it fixed because they were too busy. Didn't offer a discount but gave me a coupon for a regular manicure (despite the fact I paid full price for an awful shellac job). Literally two days later, the shellac peeled off all of my nails and had what I assume is the beginning of fungus beneath some. Disgusting. Another lady who worked on my daughter cut her nails way too short and did a sloppy job on the polish. I also didn't get the sense they sanitize the pedi bowls well because they literally wiped it down quickly after me and before the next person. Needless to say, won't be back and the gift certificate is going in the trash. Not worth the time or money, and terrible quality for the high prices. I tried Sweet Nails today on a whim - I had a coupon and have been looking for something closer to home. What a disappointment! They start without soaking your feet first....I've never EVER had that happen. The Tech was so rough with my cuticle trim that I literally looked for blood! For a $30 pedi, it should take longer than 20 minutes! Granted, I get pedis every 4 weeks, so my feet weren't in bad shape, but they received little to no attention. The only way I can tell I had a pedi is that my polish looks better....and that my feet hurt! I do not recommend this place AT ALL! read more

Not happy with my last experience. I had been coming here for 4 yrs but Monday was my last. They wouldn't honor their punch card in which I was entitled to a free mani/pedi. My toes nails are so short they hurt. They also are not rounded on the edges. Nothing like having to file your toes after you salon visit! Lastly, I have extremely hard nails are prefer to have them filed and not clipped. This request was met with an arguement and the gal telling me clipping is the same as filing. I refused to argue with her and insisted she file my nails. I do not understand why this was an issue. Extremely uncomfortable visit and would not recommend this place to anyone. read more

I love this place! With your pedicure you sit in a massage chair, they do a normal pedi, but then they also give you a hot stone massage AND when you put your toes under the drier they give you a shoulder massage. I have been here a number of times and each time my pedi has lasted months! I find it best to go in when it's not super busy because the techs are less stressed and the service is more personalized. Went here with my mom for my birthday by suggestion of my SIL who's a local and we were not disappointed! Kwanie was wonderful; she's super nice and did an amazing job on my nails -- she was very detailed and thorough compared to other places I've gone to in LA and SF (I'm from CA). I don't usually get mani/pedis so I had no idea what I was in for -- say what, a sea salt massage? Whoa! It felt amazing and I felt like a queen! Kwanie took her time and I felt really taken care of. Been happily seeing Sunny at Sweet Nails for several years. Last week, went in for a gel mani/pedi. In removing the old finger nail gel, she soaked the only acrylic nail I had (to help a split nail grow out) in acetone with the other 9 nails. I figured my tech knew it was acrylic as she was the one who applied it and, as a professional, would be able to distinguish an acrylic nail from a natural one. I don't have much experience with acrylic nails at all and have never done acrylics with gel polish. I thought it was getting soaked off in order to replace the old acrylic form and did not think it necessary to point out. When the only 2 techs, working in the salon at the time, had a chance to take 2 other customers, who apparently called in during my scheduled appointment time slot, they "double teamed" me with one on hands and one on feet, which I've done frequently at other salons (but never at Sweet Nails). In these crazy times, in their profession, they need to be available, as much as possible, whenever paying clients want to schedule. I completely understand and wholeheartedly agreed to streamline the delivery of my 2 services to accommodate them. What I did not agree to was the how the acrylic nail was handled in their rush to get to the 2 other clients. The acrylic melted down and got so gooey from the acetone but the 2nd tech just patted down the goo, let it harden slightly, filed and tried to make do with the mess rather than applying a new acrylic form. Expediency over expertise is not okay. I tried to accommodate their needs but felt quite short changed as a result. I have 9 beautiful American/French nails and one hot mess hardened goo nail. The acrylic nail should have been removed and a new form applied, in my opinion, before proceeding to the next clients. I will no longer patronize this salon, I've enjoyed very much for 3 1/2 years. read more

The pedicure was decent but the prices are way too high. I was going to go down the street and get a pedicure for $17 with a coupon I had. Instead I came here because it was right across the street. I had a $10 off coupon for a spa pedicure. Well little did I know until I was in the chair, those are only the ones that are &45+. I use Kwanie and have for over a year now. Until then I had not found anyone who could do a good set of nails since I moved from California. Kwanie is excellent and is very experienced!!!! She is also very honest to tell me what will work best for me even if it is cheaper. She is also very creative. My gels rarely break, maybe once in over a year and I can usually go longer than 2 weeks and they still look excellent. She knows her stuff!!!! I use the other girls for pedicures and they always do a great job. Service at Sweet Nails is Excellent and Prices are very Reasonable!!!! read more

I walked into this salon yesterday, after a very draining month filled with sadness from the sickness, death and burial of my brother... After no GREETING from the two staff members on duty, I started looking at the price menu board, thinking I would benefit from a "ME" day. Shortly, there after... A voice to my left barks: "What do you want"! I turned and informed the VOICE that I was just reviewing the prices, no response or offer of assistance from the VOICE. I studied the board for a few more seconds... turned to the VOICE and said: I am considering hosting a women's day with friends and thought this may have been a great venue. NO WORD, No action from the VOICE, just a blank stare... I wished the two staff members, and ONE CLIENT a great day and walked out. One part of me wanted to feel offended, but then... I went to have a mani/pedi and was very surprised to see that as walk-ins were entering the saloon they were all immediately directed to a chair or invited to get a color and wait. The owner never told them what the wait time would be and it was obvious all 3 nail techs were busy with other clients. I felt like all 3 were hurrying and not doing a good job.
