Since it was still pretty hot out, Meg and I decided to go for the iced spanner latte, and DAMN, the one made by Jiho was probably one of the most artisanal, beautifully handcrafted drinks I've ever had. Not only did it look absolutely gorgeous, but it was delicious. The espresso was bold yet balanced with condensed milk and slight hints of cocoa powder, topped with a tangy, creamy mascarpone quenelle and tiny buds of rosemary that added a wonderfully fragrant note to the rich coffee. Every element felt incredibly deliberate and delicate, and the whole drink came together beautifully. I've drank shit tons of coffee & fun drinks around the world and this was definitely one of the best. Jiho really showed off his excellent barista skills with our drinks -- the presentation and execution were seriously impressive. He was also incredibly friendly, which made the experience even better. The cafe itself was cozy, beautiful, and relaxing -- definitely the kind of place where you can sit back and take your time. I find that the desserts are reasonably priced compared to other Asian dessert stops in the area. The menu is extensive and has more cold desserts than warm desserts. The owners have an autistic son, so this charity drive was near and dear to them. I ordered a dozen donuts. They were ready for pickup at the end of February. I came here after work. It was easy to speak to a friendly male staffer and tell him my name. He immediately found my order and handed me my donuts. They were Krispy Kreme glaze donuts. You can't just have one. They were so fresh and yummy. Naturally, I looked at the Kawartha Lakes ice cream and sherbet flavours. I decided to get a cup of raspberry sherbet. The cup size was huge! I paid with a debit card. I tapped and was good. I thanked the nice man and headed to my car. I enjoyed my raspberry sherbet. It was delicious and refreshing. Kawartha Lakes does frozen treats right.
