A Culinary Delight at Everest…read more Located on Old Seward Highway, Everest stands out as a beacon for lovers of Indian cuisine. As soon as you step inside, you're enveloped in an ambiance that exudes warmth and authenticity, accentuated by traditional décor and soothing music. The waitstaff was impeccably dressed, inviting, and friendly. The menu is a delightful journey through India's diverse tapestry of flavors, and a buffet is available during the week. From the moment we took our first bite of the food, the rich spices and freshly grilled notes were simply mesmerizing. The butter chicken was a showcase of culinary mastery -- tender chicken in a creamy, tomato-based sauce that was perfectly balanced. The garlic naan bread was so delicious, we ordered a second basket! For those seeking something unique, the lamb biryani was an absolute revelation. Aromatic basmati rice layered with succulent lamb, enriched with saffron, was the star of the evening. Every dish is crafted with such care that it tells a story of tradition and passion. What truly sets Everest apart, however, is its impeccable service. The staff is welcoming, knowledgeable, and genuinely eager to enhance your dining experience. They guided us through the menu perfectly, offering thoughtful recommendations and ensuring that our glasses were never empty. In a world where dining out is often about convenience, Everest restores the joy of eating out with its exquisite food, charming atmosphere, and attentive service, while still catering to those seeking a quick meal by having a drive through. Whether you're a long-time fan of Indian cuisine or a curious newcomer, a visit to this restaurant will undoubtedly leave you with delightful memories and a yearning for more.

My go to is the Jalapeño Business / veggie delight. This place is busy no matter what time and day you come, so prepare to wait if you hit peak hours. But on the upside - the beers are great too and fast to arrive, so you won't be thirsty while waiting. Noise level is usually low for being so busy, but it may depend on where you end up getting seated. Nice airy feel to the place, decorated in a style that I guess can only be described as...Alaskan? ‍ And yes, even if you stay downtown the drive over here is worth it.

After this experience I'm done recommending it. They really missed the mark. For starters we got my husband's usual Chipotle steak pizza. Right off the bat I notice it's a weird oval kind of shape. It's not a circle and the pieces don't add up. I'm positive that the someone in the kitchen sliced out the middle the pizza and put it in the box like it wouldn't be noticed. Worst of all. I ordered a pound of their Korean style wings. I usually love these. I thought initially that these are so tiny it's a good thing it's by the weight, not quantity. Well. These were not fit for consumption. I managed to eat two wings that were on the crunchy side. The rest were unfit for consumption. We're talking chicken wing jerky. A bite cracks right through the bone, crunchy marrow, dry translucent meat. What a disappointment. This wouldn't even be something you could feed a dog. So bad. This experience was the worst I've had with Moose's Tooth. It was so disappointing and also weird. Do better.

I was looking for healthier options for lunch while doing my best to keep my New Year's resolution…read morealthough this may not last long when the pizza or Mexican food cravings kick in. Organic Oasis is located on Spenard Rd. and W. 26th Ave. in a strip mall next to Video Game Depot. The interior dining room is open and spaciously laid out. A stage is set up in one corner of the dining area for live music or open mic nights and is one of several places hosting Spenard Jazz Fest this year. Shelves decorated with antiques for sale as well as artwork and crafts from local artists adorn the entire wall next to the stage. The employees were busy but friendly and greeted me when I walked in. I had just finished a workout earlier before arriving and decided to try one of their Power Smoothies on a whim. I chose the Sea Foam Smoothie with the Moon Mix (green papaya powder, flax seed, chicory, pectin, rice bran, calcium, magnesium, calcium, and L. acidophilus with 72 ionic trace minerals extracted from sea water....sounds very healthy to me!) that promotes cleansing, clarity and weight loss as the health benefits. Not knowing what to expect from such an eclectic list of ingredients, the smoothie itself was delicious and refreshing after the first sip. It certainly lives up to its name as the Sea Foam by its appearance (I think kale was one of the ingredients I missed due to the color). I had the Peanut Butter Conspiracy in a previous visit (peanut butter, banana, apple juice, and spirulina) which was also very good. I can't help but think that the owners are vinyl collectors of classic rock. On a side note, Peanut Butter Conspiracy was the name of a psychedelic pop rock band from the late 60's. Smoothies aside, the food here is also worth trying out. Some of the dishes I had on previous visits include the Lamb Burger (Australian lamb, red onion, lettuce, tomato, feta, Swiss cheese and tomatoes), the Chopped Chicken Salad (tomato, bell peppers, cucumbers, red onions, and sunflower seeds), the Roasted Brussels Sprouts with chipotle sauce, and the Bacon Beef Bleu Burger (organic grass fed beef, avocado, bleu cheese, lettuce, red onions, tomato, mayo, and uncured turkey bacon). They offer delivery through DoorDash and a website to order online for pick-up. This is a good option for healthy meals but we'll see if I can actually stick to my New Year's resolution.

Menu changes have been for the worse. Today when we arrived we waited for 10 minutes before I had to walk up to the front and ask for menus. The menus were very dirty and we felt gross even touching them. Then we waited another 10 minutes for the server. I don't blame the server for being understaffed, but at least some communication that we were not totally forgotten would have been helpful. The soup tasted good, but it was cold, which was disappointing. I got the Thai bowl, and it was mostly all cabbage and carrots with a few random mint leafs. It used to have an assortment of veggies and tempeh that was delicious. Now it only has a small serving of undercooked tofu and very little dressing or quinoa even. My favorite used to be the vegan high protein bowl and the Hungarian mushroom soup. Both have changed so much and are not good anymore. The soup is runny and oily now instead of creamy. The VHP is missing all of the ingredients that made it amazing in the first place and now is more like a basic salad. I am very disappointed as this used to be my favorite place to eat in Anchorage. I just want it to go back to how it used to be.

Best handmade pasta I have ever had!…read more Saying I'm a pasta aficionado is a gross understatement. My answer to the "if you could only eat one thing..." question has been pasta, for as long as I could vocalize that word. I've made my own at home. I've bought artisan, hand-cut pastas at markets all over the western US. I've brought back pasta from Italy. Never have I been so delighted with unsauced pasta as the moment I discovered La Grassa. Karl and Rebecca are the husband and wife team behind LG. They met in culinary school and did an intensive in Italy together, and they are clearly a match made in gastronomic heaven. Their vegan ravioli options are particularly incredible. I fell in love with La Grassa for their golden beet and goat cheese, but it was the charred kale and white bean vegan ravioli that brought a tear to my eye and currently tops my list of favorites. Those don't tickle your fancy? Not to worry. Every week, they have hand-cut spinach and regular noodles in three different thicknesses, strozzapretti, at least two kinds of ravioli that rotate regularly, and usually at least one other option - potato gnocchi, parmesan and kale gnoccheti, or some other delightful surprise. Stop by the Wednesday Market at the Sears Mall and pick up some ravioli. $8 for 6 oz - usually 8 or 9 pieces. I rarely have life-changing food adventures, but this is one of them. Don't miss out.

I was so taken by this handmade pasta that I started a yelp page for it. After my husband and I…read morerecently attempted to make ravioli and fettuccini by hand, I gained a whole new respect for the stuff. It tastes better fresh but is definitely labor intensive and time consuming. The ravioli I got was perfectly stuffed with roasted golden beets, tart goat cheese, and almonds. I ate it with a simple improvised pesto made of olive oil and Italian seasonings and it was grrreeeat. I haven't tried the spinach tagliatelle yet but I assume it will be equally delicious. There are directions in the bag saying how long to boil each variety. The guy who sold the pasta was the owner/chef (with his fiancé) and was really nice and passionate about his pasta. I recommend everyone go get some, then turn around and buy a dozen macaroons at sweet caribou. I will definitely go back for seconds!
