I had some time to kill and needed a place with wifi to finish some work on my laptop. I googled around and found this cute little spot. Decided to check it out. Daniella, I believe was her name greeted and helped me decide what I wanted. She even let me sample a few ice cream flavors that were made from scratch in-house. Options sounded so yummy, but I wasn't very hungry. I decided to order a Decaf Hazelnut Latte with almond milk. It definitely hit the spot! I sampled a bunch of different ones but it came down to those two we were honored to be served by the owner Jorel (I hope I got his name right) he answered all of our questions honestly, he had great customer service! I know this place used to be called Maz Cafe. Now it is called Sweet Escape. The new name sounds better because it feels exactly like that. My friend and I both ordered an Iced Horchata Latte. I had regular milk in mine & my friend subbed her milk with oatmilk. Only a dollar more. It was refreshing. It's only one size as well. We both also ordered their 12.oz açaí bowl. I ordered the Cali mango raspberry smoothie and the lady who was making my drink accidentally spilled some of my smoothie on the counter and I saw her scoop it and put it back in my cup and proceeded to serve me that drink. My smoothie was also very bland. My girlfriend ordered the monkey business matcha and the worker gave her a whole completely different drink and then when she finally got the correct drink the flavor was too sweet and not good at all. The worker was on her phone that whole time while making our drinks which didn't help the situation. Overall I did not have a good experience along with the drinks being not good. God-Daughter and I treated ourselves with some amazing house made ice cream. I had the strawberry and cookie monster on a waffle cone while she had bubble cone on a regular cone. You'd never think to find an over-the-top, pretty-in-pink, coffee-plus-ice cream shop in this unassuming plaza off Chapman. It's as if an ice cream parlor hosted a tea party! Lots of pink and gold seating, with cute floral accents and funky framed pictures. The menu is on the left side of the shop, above the ice cream display. I tried a sample of the java chip, and it was good, especially for a sweltering hot day, but I was craving something to sip on for the drive home. I opted for a Matcha Horchata, which seemed like an interesting combo. I wasn't sure what to expect, as I like both matcha and horchata, but I enjoyed this unique fusion! The matcha is surprisingly stronger than the horchata flavor, but the drink overall was balanced and yummy. And I was glad that the cinnamon was not overwhelming. The barista who helped me was patient and helpful in answering my many questions. My drink was made to order rather than dispensed from a cannister, which was nice to see. I booked this venue for a birthday party in August and paid the full amount in advance through Peerspace. Just one week before my event, I received a call from someone named Jorel (who claimed to be the owner) saying my booking was being canceled. He told me that because I booked through a third party, and someone else paid him directly, they were being given priority over my reservation. The way he handled the situation was extremely unprofessional and rude. He tried to blame me for booking through Peerspace--even though the venue was advertised there--and pressured me to move my event to a different day. When I explained that I used Peerspace because that's where I found his listing, he shifted the blame to the person who manages bookings. Ultimately, he told me he didn't care about my situation and confirmed over the phone that he was canceling my event. He later sent a message through Peerspace, using much nicer language, to officially cancel -- but by then, it was too late for me to find another venue in time. This was an incredibly disappointing and stressful experience, and I would not recommend booking this space if you're looking for reliability or professionalism. read more

They cook with propane camping stove? Dorm looking toaster oven, novelty popcorn machine, and have a dog walking around behind the counter where they are serving and preparing food. Server coughed while making our coffee and wasn't wearing gloves. Ice machine was dirty, and the place (although "cute"), felt dingy with water damaged ceiling tiles and pretty dirty floors. Not ok, I've been a fan of the other MAZ location, but this store feels like MAZ's red headed step child. I'll be sharing this feedback with whoever owns this brand, what a waste of time for a very lack-luster first visit to this location. Came in because a friend saw their Instagram post on social media. We thought some cute place for brunch but really great place to host an event or small birthday. Not too many food options but there is paninis available. The drinks are delicious. They have gelato too! Photo backdrops and decor are great. Huge parking lot. Would come I. Nice quiet place. Reminds me of a small business that pretty comfortable for people to study and hang out at. It's probably new which is why I didn't see that much people at the time I went. They do have shorter hours so make sure that you take a look if you want to stop by for coffee. They have a lot of selections for ice creams and you can probably get some nice Instagram pictures as well. Prices seem reasonable and easy to find parking. Check this out if you are looking for somewhere to try new coffee. Not sure how it compares to the other location in Santa ana, but this is nice as well. read more

How does orange have so many good ice cream shops? This was something that never occurred to me until I had a little girl who loves ice cream. We discovered this particular ice cream shop when my daughter wanted an after school ice cream. We have been to a few of the other mom and pop shops around Orange and they all offer a unique experience. This one is definitely luxe. My daughter had a cake batter ice cream in a waffle cone. Anticipating the sugar rush to come, I just had an ice Spanish latte. Both were delish and the perfect sweet afternoon fix. The inside was so cute! I could see it being a fun date spot or stop with your girl friends. The prices weren't too bad either. I will likely bring my daughter back for the occasional sweet treat! read more

This coffee shop is so cute and relatively new! I think not a lot of people in the area know about it. The staff was very helpful since it was my first time there and was very welcoming. I tried the MAZ latte and it was very good, it kind of tasted like a peanut butter latte but really sweet. The little peanuts in there added a nice crunch but the straws that they provide are too small and sometimes the peanuts get stuck and it makes drinking it a hassle. I hope in the future they would decide to switch to a bigger straw or a straw-less lid to reduce plastic waste! This location also opens at 10am, the timings on Yelp and Apple Maps are wrong so just keep that in mind when you plan your visit if you are an early coffee drinker. Other than that, I would recommend this small business and I'm definitely coming back to try more drinks. read more

I have only been here once but I had a great experience. I would love to come back to try other coffee options. I ordered the mazapán iced coffee and I loved it. It's not overly sweet, just enough.. and it has little chunks of mazapán in it. Even though I'm not the biggest mazapán fan, I loved this drink. The decor inside is so cute.
