Delicious cupcakes! I love lemon cupcakes and this was by far the best one I've had in a while. They were also sampling almond cake and that was very good as well. I wish I lived closer because I'd come here every week. If you're not into cupcakes they also had cake pops, Rice Krispie treats, cookies, hot chocolate bombs, drip coffee, teas and several other things to try. 3rd times a charm. I ordered a few dozen cups cakes lemon, choc with raspberry, German choc, white, and choc. I ordered a couple doz cake pops, which my theme was fishing for my uncles 90th birthday, she made them fish and bobbins. I sent fishing poles and pic of fish, and then I ordered a personal birthday cake, which she designed just has I asked I sent a rubber fish. it turned out great. She also sent me pictures which made me so happy. Everyone at the gathering loved the cupcakes. I live in AZ so I have used this bakery a total of 3 x and she has never disappointed. Stopped by this bakery on a Saturday afternoon. It is small and quiet. Looks like they still had plenty of flavors left but I specifically came in for the cherry almond as it was their special flavor for April and not enough bakeries make cherry! Service: okay, not bad but not outstanding. Was just asked what I wanted and then checked out. Fine by me but just should be a little happier in a bakery of all places! No complaints though as I was able to get in and out. The cupcake: loved the cherry, fantastic flavor! The almond part with the icing was okay, but I think I would have preferred a sweeter vanilla. Still a great moist cupcake with fabulous icing and cake ratio. My only complaint - I bought two and they put two in a pink bag rather than a sturdy box. I get that it is more economical for them, but I was traveling with it and then did a lot of walking around with them while being at Birkdale in Huntersville before finally having them with dinner. So I had to be extra cautious with them rather than if they had been in a small box. read more

This is my third and final time ordering from them, the quality of the decorating and cake taste has gone down significantly since my first order. The first cake I ordered was perfect, a sushi cake that was beautiful and tasty. the second cake for my birthday, I was less happy with the appearance but overall it was still cute. The cake turned out to be inedible though, it was too sweet and we ended up throwing it out. It had been a year so I took a chance, and ordered a naked cake with lettering. The lettering was very sloppy, there were lots of blobs of icing where there shouldn't be, the is we're not dotted, ts not crossed. Because they showed the person that picked it up and they accepted it, they were not able to do anything. But also after talking to the manager it was clear they were unwilling to do anything. I ended up paying 50 something bucks for a cake I'm unhappy with. This bakery is fine for the odd character cake, but I wouldn't trust them past what you would trust a Publix bakery. read more

Cannot say enough great things about this bakery! We were in a last minute crunch for a birthday cake and sweet cakes bakery went above and beyond for us. Not only did the cake taste unbelievable, but it looks exactly like the inspiration photo we showed them. The lemon was well reported but the others were dry and required milk to get them down. Regardless of the late hour I expect full-price frosted cupcakes to be moist and delicious rather than bland and crumby - not since the days of the Afrika Korps has German Chocolate been so parched. read more

I'm giving this bakery three stars because the people there seemed pretty nice. The cupcakes on the other hand were not good at all. The icing was very hard the they all looked like they had been sitting there for quite some time. They also appeared to have been thrown together at the last minute. The girl working recommended a cookie dough cupcake & it looked like a piece of a chips ahoy cookie stuck in the top & the icing was hard as a rock. The prices seemed pretty reasonable but after eating them I feel like Ive been ripped off. There are way better bakeries out there to choose from. read more

I cannot believe I haven't gotten around to rating my first 5 star rated business. Sweetcakes IS as good as it gets. You can purchase 1 or 2, or a box of 4, box of 6 or box of 12 in attractive, gift-worthy boxes. They'll wrap in plastic if you don't plan to serve until the following day and they recommend never refrigerating. They are right, do not refrigerate! Sweetcakes is one of those things that when you give one to an unsuspecting person they take a bite, look at you in disbelief and become a convert before it's done. I have been converting people for years now, bringing a dozen to a new mother, or a dozen in for a coworkers birthday or, as you can tell by the Wildcat paw, we order them frequently for use at the college. The Salted Caramel is far and away my favorite. Chocolate cake with a caramel bite on the inside and (I guess) salted caramel frosting with a drizzle of caramel and a sprinkle of sea salt. The Davidson Wildcat paw chocolate on chocolate cupcake we special order for official visit recruits to give as a welcoming treat. I could describe each cupcake at length but if you look at my pictures you'll get a fair idea of what you're getting. I do think they should get rolls of stickers with the name of each cupcake on them so they could be attached to the inside of the box before leaving the store. I have to run back home and write them all down before I forget and I think that would be prettier and classier. Prices are $3.25 for one and $35.75 for a dozen. If you buy less than a dozen you can use your punchcard to earn a free cupcake! They also offer mini cupcakes if you're dying for just a bite at $1.25 each but the full size ones are just a stitch moister and more delicious, so why not splurge and treat yourself to one? They are closed Sundays and Mondays (it's odd how many times I've needed to get cupcakes for some event on a Monday!). Oh, and if you get the Peppermint Pattie cupcake it needs to go in it's own box because the peppermint aroma permeates the others. I'm not superstitious so I just buy a dozen plus a peppermint pattie one, 13 doesn't bother me ;) read more

I love Sweet Cakes Bakery! I saw on Facebook they were promoting Grinch Cupcakes and knew I had to try them! The cupcakes were the best I have ever had! The frosting shape is so cute and beautifully decorated and you can taste all the amazing ingredients it took to make them! I also snagged a mini cinnamon cupcake for the road and I am now hooked. This is my all time favorite bakery! They have delicious and moist cupcakes and I love that they rotate some featured flavors too. I have had a few cakes decorated from sweet cakes, but my most recent one stood out the most. They went over the top to decorate my cake exactly how I asked and it was just as delicious as their cupcakes. My favorite flavors are the strawberry, almond, and cookies & cream but you really can't go wrong with whatever you choose. Will definitely be back again soon! read more

Overpriced cupcakes/cake pops that are small & super inconsistent in taste (some occasions they're moist & tasty, other times dry & over baked). After many months of not coming here, I decided to give them another try. I visited today (7/23/2020 at 4:40 PM) & the girl (who was super unfriendly) grabbed my cupcake by the rim with no gloves (hello, COVID-19...this should be time time if heightened cleanliness) so of course I said no thank you & left (she put the cupcake back in the display for sale). Do yourself a favor & go to the nearby Smallcakes or Nothing Bundt Cakes for consistently tasty sweets that are a better value. read more

I love local bakeries and came across this one today. I never can make up my mind on what I want to try so when I walked in I ordered one of everything they had available. They had a ton of cupcake flavors. I got a couple cupcakes (FYI they were very good) but what I really wanted to try were the brownie bars, cake pops and cookies. The vanilla cake pops were fantastic. Great vanilla flavor, the cake was the perfect consistency. Really well done. The cookies taste homemade which is what any person wants. Buttery, soft on inside with crisp outside. Chocolate Chip, Double Chocolate and sugar cookie were wonderful. Again, great flavor. But the brownie bars were on another level of epic wonderfulness. I tried the Millionaire Shortbread, the Ooey Gooey Bar, the Cookie Dough Brownie and a Chocolate Peanut Butter Brownie. OMG!!! Some of the best flavors I have tasted from a bakery. Every single brownie bar was phenomenal. I travel a lot and love to go to local bakeries. I am shocked that there is such an amazing bakery only 15 min from where I live. I ordered a poop emoji shaped cake from here and did not get what I was expecting. Instead of I got a regular blue cake with emoji decorations. The person who took my order over the phone said I that told her I didn't care what the cake looked like... which I didn't say.. bc why would I order a $80 cake and not care what it looks like. I also wanted a cake that would feed 10-15 people, instead they made a cake that was enough to feed only 8-10. They offered to remake a new cake for me to pick the next day, but why would I want the cake the next day? I need the cake the same day. Just tried this place for my bf's bday and got 5. Came in 20 mins before closing Saturday and there was still a good selection. Got the chocolate, vanilla, Boston creme, red velvet and orange creamsicle. I tried the first three listed and they were all very good! I moved here from NYC where I lived nearby magnolia bakery and these are better than magnolia cupcakes by far (not better than Georgetown cupcakes though...). I don't feel sick or gross after eating these cupcakes, seems like they really don't have preservatives in them. The cupcakes still tasted fresh a day after purchasing. Ordered a cylindrical cake that was to be small around and high. I received a short and fat cake instead. The top was supposed to look like beading for a rosary, and it was poorly made. The top edges of the cake were also not smoothed out the way they should have been. It did not look elegant or like the photo I provided at all.
