They are open on Sundays which is hard to find in NC. They are friendly and accommodating. My son asked for napoleons as his birthday cake, so the lovely lady wrote on it for me which I appreciated very much. I always say I wish they were closer, but I probably would be in weekly if they were. Nice spot in Plaza Midwood so I don't mind coming here. Great Italian bakery.

Completely ridiculous! I ordered a grilled chicken sandwich with NO bacon, NO cheese and NO mayo…read moreand asked if I could get a slice of tomato added. "No. It's company policy we don't make accommodations. And there's no button for that." So I can hold the cheese & bacon, both I'm sure are extra $$ if added, but I can't get a simple slice of tomato on a grilled chicken sandwich?! She then said "we don't have tomatoes. We DO have an heirloom tomato BLT sandwich but we can't put a tomato on your sandwich." It's not like they have a massive menu where accommodations would prove problematic. I brought it up to the person running out our food and the response was even more condescending and arrogant. "We don't have the option on the register to accommodate." The snarkiness was appalling. The correct answer is "sorry sir, let me get you that slice of tomato." Not hard. I would have even accepted that without a "sorry." Now, on to the food review.... Ice machine was broken and they were out of the self serve lemonade my friend ordered. Well done, Milkbread. The chicken sandwich looked pathetic. A small-ish gray chicken patty with a smushy bun, pickles and a smattering of lettuce. The story doesn't get much better with the flavor - bland and unremarkable. Now, you can look at my past reviews - I RARELY GIVE BAD ones - because I understand restaurants have off days, but this was so astoundingly pompous without any of the quality to back it up. It's rare to have such terrible in-your-face haughtiness these days but somehow they managed to under-exceed all my expectations. I will never return. I encourage you to look elsewhere.

Official date day with my hubs on Sunday mornings. Made to order coffees, lattes, and energy…read more"buzzers," this DC based coffee shop is a total vibe. Starting with genuinely friendly service, Coffee Republic is my favorite local place. The pastries and cakes are in-house made, then heated up to your preference. This week, my husband got his "usual" - 2 vegan energy balls and a Sweet Pea latte on a stairway to heaven (iced matcha latte with lavender ube cold foam. The stairway to heaven is the 4 shots of espresso added). This is from their seasonal spring menu. We also had the apple blossom and my usual, the spinach feta danish (spinach and feta filled puff pastry, warmed of course) and a triple espresso over ice that I poured my salted caramel protein shake over. We sit in the corner on a navy blue couch and enjoy the calm atmosphere. There are comfortable workstations and I have even seen a 40th birthday breakfast celebration! I really wish there was a way to put patio tables and chairs to relax outside on gorgeous days - but for now, I'll keep snuggling on this couch!!!

Visiting from out of town so I wanted to try a local coffee place. The rating and the name sounded encouraging. Only one person working so the line to order was long. We asked for the egg sandwiches featured prominently on a sign at the entrance ... and they were not available. In fact, the bakery case was nearly empty. At 8:30 a.m. The woman behind the counter suggested two of their breakfast croissants. We asked to have them heated. After a, no kidding, 10 minute wait she let us know that she had broken the oven. So we asked for them cold because we needed to go. They were dreadful. Tossed mine. And in a wonderful display of irony, even their large screen television menu failed while we were in the room. I will say that the coffee was perfectly serviceable. Experiences like this are why people go to chains like Starbucks for coffee and breakfast. I would say I want my tip back, but I suspect she is so frazzled that she earned it and then some. Absolute disaster. I hope our experience was a one off.
