I had lunch at the Boardwalk area and searched Yelp for a sweet pick me up. There were a few choices if you wanted a bakery or ice cream, but cupcakes were calling my name! This is a super cute small bakery. They do a lot of special orders and things such as wedding cakes. They do have a store front though, and sell cupcakes, cookies, truffles which are like cake pops as well as macaroons. I am very picky with my cupcakes (really the frosting and density of the cake) and I have a favorite bakery but it is across town. Because I was in this area I was wanting to try this! I entered with no idea about what I wanted. A man working help me and answered a few questions and also spoke to me about their special order business. He was very helpful. I ended up with an almond truffle which was just amazing. Compare it to a very large cake pop. It had awesome almond flavor. I'm pretty upset of cookie dough, and they had a cupcake that was a cookie dough cupcake. The frosting looked like cookie dough, and let me tell you that's what it tasted like! I want to get another right now! It was the perfect combination of cookie dough and a cupcake! I wait can't to go back and try something else. (Which I haven't tried) I walked into this cute little bakery and saw that there were not many choices or selections of desert. Celebrating birthdays this year is a little crazy with COVID around, so I wanted my sister to feel special for her birthday this past April. I live in Texas and decided last minute what a brilliant idea it would be to have not only a pretty cake--but a delicious cake delivered to my sister on the morning of her birthday. I called several bakeries in the Charlotte area, and of course, because it was so last minute, no one could deliver, let alone have enough time to make a custom cake. But Aryn ya'll. She made my sister a cute red velvet cake and delivered it on time. My sister was elated. I didn't get to enjoy the cake, but I heard it was ah-mazing! Aryn did a magnificent job on our wedding cake! The cake testing was my favorite part of planning our wedding. Aryn made us feel like family and easy to do business with. She was in contact with us, and called before the wedding to confirm and help us feel at peace with the delivery. We also rented the cake platter and I am super glad we did! The visual appearance turned out better than we could have imagined. She handmade these gorgeous blue hydrangeas for the cake topper. We decided fondant over real flowers just to be on the safe side as our wedding was on a hot May day and didn't want a real flower to droop, prior to cutting the cake. the cake was classy and elegant, just beautiful! We ended up going with vanilla just because we wanted to ensure that everyone would like the cake. The cake was moist, fluffy (not too airy, just right) and sweet! I know she uses real butter as I could taste the buttery richness verses crisco like many of the other local bakeries bake with. She also made macaroons for a party favor for our guests. My husband is a HUGE macaroon fan and he wanted to put them all in a bag and bring them to our hotel that night as a late night treat! Aryn also went above and beyond and provided little boxes that had a hydrangea sticker with them, to seal them close for when the guest left for the night. First of all Erin was a very pleasant however I was not pleased with the cake design . This was a special occasion for my 21 year old . The cake looked like something for a 71 year old in a nursing home . My daughter was so disappointed. It was very sugary gritty with a shortening flavor (vs buttercream or cream cheese). The cake had a bit of lime flavor but again, on its own, not that great. HOWEVER... The key lime cupcake had a lime cream filling that was amazing and totally makes up for the lack in cake and frosting. I came into this cute cakery yesterday and it is beautifully decorated. The cashier was very friendly when we arrived and was able to describe all of the cupcakes that were in stock. I opted for the red velvet cupcake and a chocolate chip cookie. The cupcake was mediocre. The icing was not that great and the cupcake did not taste like red velvet and was not that moist. The cookie was ok but I could have gotten a chickfila cookie for a $1. Not sure it's worth a drive but maybe it will be good if your near the boardwalk for another occasion. read more

My husband and I are not big cake lovers so we were looking into options for having assorted desserts instead! I got connected with Aryn and she created the best menu for me. We went with three different styles of macaroons (one being the fruity pebble one which was a crowd favorite), lemon bars, raspberry crumble bars, a few different cake pops, and mini cupcakes. As an added bonus we rented platters and stands for set up though them as well. This took off so much stress as that was one less thing to worry about that day! Very good cupcakes! Frosting is a tad on the sweet side for me, but still very yummy. Cake is moist and not too sweet-very flavorful. Macaroons are delish too! Kinda pricey as well-6 cupcakes and 2 macaroons $25. Wish they had a sign with the pricing in the shop somewhere. Would definitely recommend for a special occasion or a once in a while treat but just too pricey for a regular occurrence. In the mood for something sweet, my husband and I went to Delish for the first time. The customer service was great, and the shop was small but nicely decorated. I got the key lime and the cookie dough cupcakes because I couldn't decide between the two. My husband got a slice of cheesecake, and we got our son the fruity pebbles whoopie pie. My husband thought the cheesecake was good, hence the three stars; however, the key lime cupcake, while flavorful was dry. The lime cream filling inside and the lime curd atop the cupcake provided good flavor and added moisture to an otherwise dry cupcake. My husband was not a fan of the key lime cupcake. The cookie dough cupcake was not good. It was dry and the cookie dough frosting was heavy and lacking in flavor. My son liked the whoopie pie but the truth is he's six and likes anything with sugar in it. My husband and I love supporting local businesses so when we stumbled upon Delish Cakery and met the owner, a friendly young Charlotte native, we were excited to give her cupcakes a try. I went with the amaretto and my husband tried the butter pecan and a key lime macaroon. They were delicious and I hate to admit that I had to go back for a macaroon myself! The cake was moist and the frosting to cake ratio was perfect. The prices were lower than Amelie's or Sunflour, our regular dessert spots, by at least a dollar each. We have since been back several times and learned about her custom cakes which we looked up on Delish Cakery's Facebook page.
