Stopped in for lunch and am so glad I did. First, Karina is a sweetheart, and works hard to run La Dolcekca, a place she clearly loves and is incredibly passionate about. There are baked goods, desserts, and brunch and sandwich options, several of which have Dominican or other Latino roots. I had the chimi sandwich, which was delicious. A chimi is a Dominican street food, served almost like a burger, served with shredded cabbage in a mayoketchup sauce. La Dolcekca's chimi is a sandwich, and a dang good one at that. Absolutely delicious, and a sizable portion at that, served with a side of French fries. I also had a jugo de chinola (maracuya for most Latinos; passionfruit juice for non-Spanish speakers). Aside from the food being delicious, this place is adorable. This is clearly a business that someone really cares about. The decorations are super cute and feminine, with florals and several Parisian references. Bathroom is clean and tidy, as is the rest of the business. I am so glad I finally got to stop by and support this woman-owned, Latino-owned establishment. I am thoroughly looking forward to coming back soon! read more

Before I talk about the food, I want to talk about the owner and her family. Karina is the owner. She is an amazing woman beyond sweet and always has a smile when you come in. Her two daughters are as determined and driven as she is as well as amazing chefs. I would go here religiously for lunch over the last year and I also brought all my coworkers anytime It was my turn to pick where we ate for lunch. It's tucked away and you probably wouldn't see it unless you were going there purposely. Once you get in, it's a very eclectic, antique, floral and colorful it's just a happy feeling when you walk into this bakery. All the different plates and tea cups that they have on the back counter behind the register are so cute. ALL the food from desserts to lunch to taking a BOX of empanadas for dinner... Everything is delicious. Nothing lacks flavor. I always come for the flan because it's the perfect texture. I could eat a whole pan. The beef empanadas go quickly so call in early if you wanna get an order in for lunch. I'm still working my way through all of the desserts so I recommend going on an empty stomach because you have lots of options to choose from. Give the drink of the month a try too! read more

This was truly amazing and I already want to come back. My husband and I stopped by on a whim and wanted to try some empanadas. The server told us that they didn't have all their empanadas available and gave us the options. She then said that she had the ingredients available to make one of the original ones we wanted which I truly appreciated. We had the beef, chicken and cheese. They were all phenomenal. the chicken and beef were so juicy and so well seasoned. The sauce they served on the side was also fantastic. The vibe is fun and eclectic. La Dolcekca was one of the vendors at this month's "Crown Town Neighborhood Showdown: A Royal Yelp Affair" and of all the presentations we tasted, it was the mini coconut bites that they had which make me take a business card. This morning, we're here as they open to see what else they have that's awesome and magical. The young ladies working this morning did not speak English so we weren't able to explain what it was we wanted so we chose from what was on display. My wife picked the cocosito and I chose the lemon bar. We split a coffee. The coffee was excellent. The cocosito was dry. The lemon bar was very good with a strong lemon flavor and a creamy curd though the crust was too thick and it took out our plastic spoon. Lots of options for baked goods and they also do sandwiches. Wow, I'm embarrassed this has been under my nose for so long! Beef empanadas-crispy and huge. We ordered 2 and ended up splitting one. The seasoning on the beef was good but not my favorite flavor profile. Chopped Cheese & fries-I'll come back here for this over and over. We split it, and it's huge. This unassuming bakery on Montford is everything! Bodega style sandwiches, brunch, coffee, tea, pastries - what else could you want? I had the chimi sandwich and it was so good. Pulled pork with a tangy slaw and melty cheese. Comes with crispy, crinkle fries. Also had to get a pastry. The passion fruit tres leches was the best I've had. The cake itself was light with a not too sweet milk syrup. Topped with a passion fruit mousse it was perfection. My only request is I wish they had a half sandwich option. This will forever be one of my favorite places in Charlotte. They have the best chopped cheese in the city and probably the only legitimate chopped cheese, but they have so many other things to offer, including a fantastic bakery, coffee, and tea shop. I wish I could give more than 5 stars! This place is a true gem! From the moment you walk in, the decor just sucks you in. Ids so beautifully decorated with various different furniture but it all works so well together. The staff was so friendly, a mom and daughter duo. The daughter was running the front end, taking orders and cooking them fresh after being placed. Mom was busy baking fresh yummy smelling pastries. I tried the chipotle salmon sandwich with lemon pepper wings. I'm at a loss for word on describing the deliciousness lol. The sandwiched was jam packed with freshly chopped and perfectly seasoned salmon (which I found making the pieces small, made the sandwich easier to eat which I appreciated.) it has fresh cabbage, pickled onions and everything was a delish melody of flavors. The wings were cooked to perfection, I like mine fried hard, but if that's not your thing, ask them to go less time on the frying. Also tried both the passion fruit and hibiscus tea drinks....so refreshing!! I got a mocha tres leche cake to go, so can't want to try that. But seriously folks, RUN down and try this place. You will not be disappointed. With Charlotte seeming to lose so many mom and pop shops these days, and being replaced with multiple pizza joints and breweries or apts, we need to do all we can to save spaces like them. Actually stumbled across this cafe by accident and so glad we did! Had waited 30 mins for our table at Easy Like Sunday Morning only to be seated and no service. Saw this spot from there and decided to give it a try. My goodness such a cute space! From the cute decor to the super sweet employee (perhaps owner) that greeted us when we entered. They have so much to choose from here-breakfast items, desserts, sandwiches, empanadas, ice cream, coffee... We ordered a salted caramel latte, bacon, egg and cheese bagel and 2 different empanadas. Had planned to try desserts after but it was just too much. First our food was amazing. My husband really enjoyed the chicken empanada. My bagel was scorching hot and the egg was cooked to perfection. Also came with a side of fries. My latte was so delicious and this coming from someone who rarely drinks coffee but if I do, I'm always having to add something to it. Not her latte-perfect. What is this place? No really... La Dolcekca the bakery cafe is doing it's own thing, and I like it. When you first enter, you have a lot of options. You can stay and chill while sipping a coffee. You could order waffles and eggs like I did for brunch. Or maybe you want to pick up that birthday cake for your primos 13th. Whatever you decide to do, you'll do it at a centrally located clear cupcake stand, where a young lady (maybe the owners daughter) will place your order then you sit. Where you decide is up to you, it's a large dining room with excellent natural light pouring into the decorative restaurant. Complete with instagramable floral telephone booth, and a very pink coffee bar. Food wise, I wanted to try everything and get a feel for this unique establishment. I had chicken empanadas, the egg and home fries breakfast...with a lemon blueberry cupcake. The egg and waffle with home fries were pretty good, except for the waffle. It was incredible hard and I'm not sure if this is how it comes but I didn't love the overall texture. The chicken empanadas however were delicious, very strong flavors and spices (not hot), but I got the cumin and peppers on my first bite. Lastly the cupcake was also a hit. The frosting alone could have been my dessert and I wouldn't have complained. The actual cake was moist while still being firm and not a crumbly mess. I honestly don't know where to place La Do Everything Cafe. For example: Imagine its December, and list season for "Best of", I have a strong feeling Dolcekca could dominate them all. Pro Tip: There is a select menu to choose from, not all options you see online or even written on the walls are available. This is such a cute bakery/cafe! On the left side you will find the menu and baked goodies and on the right is where you can grab a chair to sit and eat. There are also outlets so you can work. This place is a neighborhood gem! The breakfast sandwiches are perfectly made - we had a yummy NYC style baconeggandcheese! The chicken empanada was heavenly! It's a really "Instagrammable" place complete with Parisian type artwork, a cool collection of elephants and a flower filled pink phone booth. We actually went to look at birthday cakes. What a pleasure for my first review of 2023 to be La Dolcezza. My wife and I stopped by here for a quick lunch on a Saturday and we are so glad that we did. It's a nice space with some definite Latin flair and a bunch of tasty treats and pastries in the window. We went lunch and got a couple of empanadas and the Chop cheese sandwich. The empanadas were good and freshly fried before coming to us - 4/5 would eat again. The chop cheese sandwich is what will bring me back and without a doubt bring others to try. It was amazing. Ground beef seasoned so well, cheese, mustard, red onion, lettuce, and tomato. Amazing. I can't wait to come back and try the other sandwiches. What took me so long! This place is outstanding. I ordered the salmon chipotle sandwich. Holy smokes, it's so flavorful and the chipotle sauce offers a nice kick. The fries were crispy and lightly seasoned. Which is what I prefer when the sandwich already had so much flavor. I also ordered a pumpkin snickerdoodle cookie and the cream cheese flan or cheese cake flan (I can't remember the exact name). Both were delicious! Super cute spot. Was looking for a place for grab something sweet with my friends after brunch. Was driving around to a location that I wanted to try however it was closed and stumbled upon La Dolcekca and wasn't disappointed. It's really cute and quaint in there. It's family owned and in house made. They have a great selection of desserts, coffees, teas and food. They have a cute telephone booth decorated in flowers and let's not forget the cute tea sets they have. I got a biscoff cheesecake and it was so fluffy and light. Not too sweet and delicious. I couldn't even eat it all. Me and my friends also got the relaxing tea and it was just refreshing to have. I can tell it's a staple to a lot of people bc they had a lot of regulars coming in and they were also preparing for a customer's 50th birthday party in which they had prepared a cake, charcuterie board, etc so it was great to know that you can rent out their space. The staff was extremely helpful and genuine. We had empanadas (chicken, beef, and cheese)...the absolute best I've had in Charlotte. We also had the spinach and feta cheese pastry, a brookie, and a lemon macaroon. All were delicious and fresh. Beverages we had were the passion fruit juice and a caramel latte...so so good. They can make any flavor of coffee or latte. The price you pay is nothing compared to the quality of the food and pastries here. We will absolutely return and make this a regular occurrence.
