This bakery is full of yummy things, and I've only tried a few so far. I loved the s'mores cookie and the M&M cookie! They even had small cake bites, which I thought was great if you wanted to make sure that was the cake flavor you needed. This is a small place, and not meant for hanging out, but a good place nonetheless!
I was super excited to come and try this place, the marketing on social media and their website was on point - everything looked delicious. Upon coming in, I was most excited to try their specialty donut (eggnog), but we also got the chocolate eclair and the pretzel twist (cinnamon swirl donut). I am sad to say that this didn't live up to my expectations, I thought the donuts were somewhat dry and was missing that chewy bite you crave from a yeast donut. The filling for the eggnog donut was nothing more than regular vanilla filling & the icing on the top was hard and crusty. Truthfully, there was nothing special about the donuts or the eclair. The cakes and cupcakes did look incredible, and I might come back one day to try them. The space was clean and the staff were attentive. I really wanted to be blown away by Suárez bakery, but it was quite unremarkable for me.
Beautiful and delicious cookies and other treats. One of my friends is obsessed with it so we always stop by if in the area, even if just to look. I have a gluten sensitivity so I bought items to give as gifts and everyone enjoyed. No seats - takeout only. Convenient location with a parking lot.
This location of Suárez Bakery sits in the Park Road Shopping Center, just outside of Optimist Hall where their other spot is located. The bakery focuses on small-batch, homemade pastries and artisan baked goods, and there are definitely some standouts. The dulce de leche pastries are fantastic, and anything with guava is usually a great choice. Compared to the Optimist Hall location, the aesthetics here feel a little more understated. The display case was a bit sparse during my visit, though they did have some seasonal cookies available. One thing I wish they had is outdoor seating--it would be nice to grab a pastry and enjoy it outside. Parking here is very easy since it's in a large shopping center, which makes it a convenient stop. I also wish they stayed open later, because it would be a great place to grab dessert after dinner given how many restaurants are nearby. Insider tip: If you're visiting, keep an eye out for the dulce de leche or guava pastries--they're some of the best items in the case. Overall, a solid bakery stop for artisan pastries and baked treats, especially if you're already in the Park Road area.
I've been going to Suarez Bakery since they opened. Great bakery. I got this cake (5/26) and once we cut the cake, we were very disappointed. The cake layers were not a complete layer, and they compensated with over an inch of frosting in between each layer. After we sliced the cake, everyone was commenting on this odd cake. We were embarrassed.
Enjoy coming here for cookies for the kids. We also get cakes for parties. Very convenient in and out. People don't really eat inside just pick up and go. We ride our bikes from the nearby greenway. Good service never have to wait.
Tasty, affordable Cuban-style bakery conveniently located in Park Rd Shopping Center! We got the guava pastelito, apple fritter, and donut holes. Right now, there's a Yelp check-in offer for a free pastry (up to $5 value), so our pastelito ended up being free! Service was speedy, patient, and friendly. Note: this location is different from the Optimist Hall one, which also serves coffee and sandwiches. This is JUST a bakery. (TBH, I wouldn't mind the cafe offerings here too though! Love a Cuban cafecito.) Of what we got, I really enjoyed the guava pastelito since it was perfectly flaky and had an apricot glaze, adding a little something extra to this pastry that scream Miami to me. I also thought the apple fritter was nice since it had little chunks of apple in it. This was especially delish after we got home and heated it up. The donut holes were just ok to me, so I wouldn't be coming back here just for those, but it's nice to have the option to get something small and sweet if the craving hits. I'd love to return and try more baked goods! The cakes look divine, and looks like they also have seasonal offerings.
I just left Suárez Bakery and what a pleasant experience. One of my coworkers is getting promoted and i needed cupcakes. While calling around Suárez was the only one that said they had grab and go services. When i got there the wait was not long, the cashier was very helpful (with a smile) and the presentation was so good i had to grab a slice of carrot cake as well! Thanks for the convenience, service and the smile!
Food I stopped by to try the strawberry shortcake June flavor of the month doughnut and left with much more. All of my items came refrigerated - I'm okay with that. Presentation was 10/10 - everything looked picture ready. I had so many things to try I forgot to take a picture of the chocolate mousse cake. I thought I would like that item the best, but I thought it was a little dry - same as the chocolate cupcake. The chocolate flavor was great and the icing was very silky - however, I didn't care for the texture. My favorite was the carrot cake - 10/10. The cream cheese icing was fluffy and not too sweet. The texture of the carrot cake was soft - not dry. I'll definitely get this again. The brownie had a great flavor, but the texture was not it for me. It's more like a fudge texture or some vegan brownies, with a modicum amount of crumb. The key lime cheesecake had a nice buttery graham crust, and some tartness from the key lime cheesecake section and then a standard layer of plain cheesecake. The layers were velvety smooth goodness - 3/5. The coconut cream cake was very light/airy - not too sweet, which I appreciate. I wasn't blown away by any of the items - maybe the carrot cake, but only due to being underwhelmed by the other 7 items. I didn't like the way the strawberries tasted in the chiffon cake. Reminded me of strawberries soaked in wine without the sogginess between the cake layers. The icing was great on all of the cakes. The cake textures weren't consistent for me. Although soft a bit dry with the exception of the carrot cake. They were refrigerated, but thawed out a bit from the trip back home - still a little cold, but not too cold. The strawberry shortcake donut was okay. The icing is a hard candy like shell - similar to a chocolate coated candy apple. I didn't like the artificial taste of the coating, but I loved the strawberry cream on the inside. The doughnut texture was a little dryer compared to Your Mom's donuts. I also stopped by there. 1. Extremely underwhelming. I've heard nothing but good things about this bakery, but the products themselves fell short of expectation. The coconut cream cake was average at best, and not memorable. Disappointing for a tiny $5 piece. It's hard to mess up a doughnut, but somehow they did it. The chocolate sprinkle lacked flavor and flattened as I ate it. It wasn't fluffy & airy like a donut should be. They weren't "awful" or the worst thing I'd ever eaten, so I gave it 2 stars instead of 1.
The Aesthetic: Funky, colorful, and hip Cuban bakery, sandwicherie, and coffee stand at Optimist Hall with the best desserts in the food hall! The Price: The prices are very good for the size of the pastries you get, my donut was very filling and it was only $3. The value for the price is just right. The Parking: There is abundant parking all around the food hall, but on a busy night you may be circling around to find a close spot. The parking is free for the first hour and a half then increases to $5 an hour. My Order: I recently tried the eggnog cream-filled donut, and it was perfection! However, the best dessert I've had here is the Tres Leches cake. It may honestly be the best in town. They also have Cuban food that I need to go back and try. The Conclusion: I'd highly recommend it if you can fit dessert after your meal at Optimist. Don't miss the Tres Leches cake with a cortadito, you will love it!
10/10 Highly Recommend! Suarez's Bakery is one of my absolute favorite bakeries in Charlotte, and they never disappoint. I stopped by today hoping to grab some of their famous long johns, but the morning crowd had already bought them all out--which honestly tells you everything you need to know about how popular their baked goods are. Some of their favorites definitely sell out early, so getting there sooner is always a good idea. Since the long johns were gone, I picked up two Boston cream donuts and a slice of their strawberry chiffon cake. The strawberry chiffon cake was absolutely incredible. It was so light and airy that it truly felt like eating a cloud with strawberries. It was fresh, soft, and packed with flavor. The Park Road location is my go-to, although they also have a location at Optimist Hall. The customer service is always friendly, and I'm usually in and out quickly, even when they're busy. Suarez's offers an amazing selection of cakes, cookies, donuts, cupcakes, and other baked treats. Everything I've tried has been consistently delicious. I've also used them several times for birthday cakes, and they have always done a fantastic job. Their cakes not only look beautiful, but they taste just as good, making them a great option for special occasions. Another bonus is that they're open on Sundays from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., which is perfect when you're craving something sweet over the weekend. If you're looking for a bakery in Charlotte that delivers quality, consistency, and delicious desserts, Suarez's Bakery is definitely worth the visit. Just remember: if you're after one of their popular items, get there early because the favorites tend to sell out. 10 out of 10, highly recommend for all your bakery needs--from everyday treats to special occasion cakes. read more
Got my birthday cake here and it was DELICIOUS. I got their classic vanilla diplomat and they wrote on it since it was from the case. Super nice and kind in there. I can't wait to get all my special occasion desserts here! read more

Who doesn't love donuts? With so many donut shops in CLT, Suárez stands out with its Donut CAKE! The icing is tremendously sweet and donut is super fluffy. The employees are very accommodating to build this with short notice and at a good price. Their shops are more than just donuts, so if you're near Park Rd Shopping Center or Optimist Hall, I recommend going to their shop and seeing what else they have to offer behind the glass of goodies! Also shoutout to their extremely fudgy Salted Caramel Brownie mmmm. read more
Founded in 1992, this dessert bakery has all the goods (cakes, doughnuts, cookies, brownies, pastries, etc.) including vegan, gluten, dairy, nut, egg, corn, and soy-free options! What I ate: SALTED CARAMEL BROWNIE - Callebaut intense dark chocolate, smokey caramel, maldon sea salt - The chocolate in the brownie is from the first chocolate manufacturer ever and it shows in the taste. This brownie is absolute perfection. I do not consider this highly recommended, it's MANDATORY. OREO CHEESECAKE ($5.50) - Rich and decadent, this is the perfect treat especially if you're an Oreo cookie lover. I treasured every single bite. PERFECTION and MANDATORY. TRES LECHES ($5.50) - vanilla cake soaked in three milks, whipped cream, caramel, and cinnamon - The moistness is the star of the show, but it's contender is the cake's cinnamon flair. AMAZING. CREAM HORN ($3.50) - puff pastry cone with vanilla cream filling and a garnish of powdered sugar - This treat is for all the pastry lovers! My favorite part is the vanilla cream filling and of course, the flakiness of the "horn." read more
I came here recently as we were already at the Park Road Shopping Center and I wanted to give Suarez Bakery a try after having them at their Optimist Hall location which does not offer nearly as much variety. What I got: Oreo Cheesecake - My favorite dessert is an oreo cheesecake, so I knew I had to try their version. Theirs was good with a nice consistency, and it definitely tasted like a cookies and cream cheesecake. It does not beat my favorite oreo cheesecake in the Charlotte area, as I prefer to have large chunks of oreo in or on top of my oreo cheesecake, but this was still a good version that I would get again since it was a good value for your own mini cheesecake. Chocolate Chip Cookie Sandwich - I had already had this one previously and loved it, so I knew I wanted it again! So many chocolate chunks in their chocolate chip cookie. I'm a huge icing fanatic, so a cookie sandwich was perfect for me, although I wouldn't hesitate to just get a cookie the next time. Definitely recommend Suarez Bakery if you are in the area. I stopped into this bakery while visiting Park Road Shopping Center. After a quick look, I opted for a slice of the Carrot Cake. Eating it later that day, I would have to give it a 3/5. I can appreciate that it was not overly sweet. However, it didn't have the full carrot flavor and the icing did not have the cream cheese flavor that I love to have with my carrot cake. In addition, although service was swift, the staff member who range me up was not friendly. She didn't speak unless I asked her a question. Then, I had to ask for a bag for carry the box and the cookie I ordered for Mom. She didn't come across to me in a positive manner. However, I will give them another try when I next visit the shopping center as the prepared cakes look delicious! read more

We ordered the Oreo chocolate cake last month for my daughter's 3rd birthday and it did not disappoint! The cake was so delicious and moist; everyone wanted to know where we got it from. Our guests said it was the best chocolate cake they've ever had. Highly recommend! Planning on ordering our gender reveal cake with them this week. read more

I have seen their beautiful work with custom cookies so I was excited when a few errands brought me to this shopping center. I decided to pop in while in the area. It was not busy on a Wednesday afternoon, the bakery was stocked with cookies, donuts, cheese cakes, cake balls, and croissants. I decided to pick my husband up a croissant- there were 2 flavors available which were pumpkin spice and cookies and cream. I chose the cookies and cream for $6 (really expensive IMO). The presentation of the croissant is 5 stars but the taste is 3 stars. There was not much filling in the center, in fact, we were convinced that this was a plain croissant dipped in cookies and cream frosting with no filling in the center. Eventually we found some filling but it was just oddly dispersed throughout the croissant. Overall, I'd order custom cookies from here for a party. I would not travel out of my way for their pastries. read more
This is hands down the best bakery in Charlotte and the surrounding area. I usually get the donut cake for my kids every year but this year my husband turned 50 so we needed a special cake. I ordered a large strawberry chiffon cake with chocolate drizzled icing and I could not wait to cut this cake. It was so moist and delicious. Not to mention absolutely beautiful. My guest raved About the cake and several asked "where did you get this cake?" Thanks Suárez bakery for helping us make memories on this milestone birthday! read more
Awesome bakery. I've stopped in a few times when I've had a sweet tooth and have not been disappointed. I've tried sugar cookies, donuts and cupcakes and loved them all. I was happy to see vegan and gluten-free items on the menu, awesome inclusion. I've considered ordering a custom cake and may give that a try for a special event in the future. Prices are reasonable and everyone is always friendly. This bakery is in a perfect location in the Park Road shopping center, plenty to see and do nearby and there's plenty of parking. read more

Not trying to be disrespectful but they advertise made to order custom cakes, but they really do not offer that. They have options to choose from, but you cannot customize the cake at all. They should really change the name because they are not custom. They will not stray from policy, which I understand, but also the policies are insane. I really wanted to get a gender reveal cake from here, but they do not do that or it's not in their policy. A little disappointed. Follow up: I did see the somewhat condescending comment below after I left what I thought to be a respectful review of my experience. I have attached a picture of their website where they advertise for cakes made "just for you". This implies a custom cake if I am not mistaken. Also, the women I spoke to on the phone said "No, we do not do gender reveal cakes" when I asked about them. read more

During our Plates + Peals 2023 CLT International Women's Day Foodie Tour we kicked-off this Saturday, March 4th at Suárez Bakery! The ladies had the opportunity to enjoy some of Charlotte's Best Donuts, Pastries & Desserts! This bakery prepares all menu items fresh on-site from cold desserts to cakes. Quality: I was pleased with the quality of ingredients that went into making these donuts and pastries. I could taste the lemon, vanilla extract, coconut milk, fresh cream and buttermilk. Let me start with Wow! Suárez bakery is a nice addition to Optimist Hall. They have a variety of items to choose from. They even have a few food items! The presentation of their pastries and cookies are so inviting. I passed once but had to return to grab the last raspberry croissant. If you love raspberry you will really enjoy the raspberry croissant. Equally good is the chocolate croissant. The chocolate oozes out! You will be surprised with the weight of these croissants. While a little pricey the size of them allows you to split it over 2 days. It's a definite stop if you have a sweet tooth. read more
I'm not quite sure which cake this is because it was a surprise for my birthday. I often rant and rave about cakes that I've had from here at other celebrations, and I ended up with one of my own! They did not disappoint. This cake was so good and the icing was amazing!!! I'm not a big fan of icing and I'm usually that person that eats around it. The fact that I didn't, speaks volumes.
