This location of Suárez Bakery sits in the Park Road Shopping Center, just outside of Optimist Hall where their other spot is located. The bakery focuses on small-batch, homemade pastries and artisan baked goods, and there are definitely some standouts. The dulce de leche pastries are fantastic, and anything with guava is usually a great choice. Compared to the Optimist Hall location, the aesthetics here feel a little more understated. The display case was a bit sparse during my visit, though they did have some seasonal cookies available. One thing I wish they had is outdoor seating--it would be nice to grab a pastry and enjoy it outside. Parking here is very easy since it's in a large shopping center, which makes it a convenient stop. I also wish they stayed open later, because it would be a great place to grab dessert after dinner given how many restaurants are nearby. I was super excited to come and try this place, the marketing on social media and their website was on point - everything looked delicious. Upon coming in, I was most excited to try their specialty donut (eggnog), but we also got the chocolate eclair and the pretzel twist (cinnamon swirl donut). I am sad to say that this didn't live up to my expectations, I thought the donuts were somewhat dry and was missing that chewy bite you crave from a yeast donut. I've been a huge Suárez fan but it seems like their cake quality has gone down especially the vanilla cake. The last few times I had it, once at a birthday party and once yesterday in the coconut cake, there was a very strong artificial vanilla sweet flavor that just was overpowering. I loved the frosting more on both experiences and ate around the cake itself. I've ordered cakes here for several parties without a taste issue but those were the chocolate ones. Anyway, maybe stay away from the vanilla based ones if you don't like overpowering vanilla. I also wish they were more flexible with customizations like with putting a filling with a different cake or like doing a special color scheme from their colors from their designs they offer. Or even like a different frosting type that they offer with a specific cake. I tried really hard to get some flexibility on that but they were very firmly against it. Food I stopped by to try the strawberry shortcake June flavor of the month doughnut and left with much more. All of my items came refrigerated - I'm okay with that. Presentation was 10/10 - everything looked picture ready. I had so many things to try I forgot to take a picture of the chocolate mousse cake. I thought I would like that item the best, but I thought it was a little dry - same as the chocolate cupcake. The chocolate flavor was great and the icing was very silky - however, I didn't care for the texture. My favorite was the carrot cake - 10/10. The cream cheese icing was fluffy and not too sweet. The texture of the carrot cake was soft - not dry. I'll definitely get this again. The brownie had a great flavor, but the texture was not it for me. It's more like a fudge texture or some vegan brownies, with a modicum amount of crumb. The key lime cheesecake had a nice buttery graham crust, and some tartness from the key lime cheesecake section and then a standard layer of plain cheesecake. The layers were velvety smooth goodness - 3/5. The coconut cream cake was very light/airy - not too sweet, which I appreciate. I wasn't blown away by any of the items - maybe the carrot cake, but only due to being underwhelmed by the other 7 items. I didn't like the way the strawberries tasted in the chiffon cake. Reminded me of strawberries soaked in wine without the sogginess between the cake layers. The icing was great on all of the cakes. The cake textures weren't consistent for me. Although soft a bit dry with the exception of the carrot cake. They were refrigerated, but thawed out a bit from the trip back home - still a little cold, but not too cold. The strawberry shortcake donut was okay. The icing is a hard candy like shell - similar to a chocolate coated candy apple. I didn't like the artificial taste of the coating, but I loved the strawberry cream on the inside. The doughnut texture was a little dryer compared to Your Mom's donuts. I also stopped by there. 1. Tasty, affordable Cuban-style bakery conveniently located in Park Rd Shopping Center! We got the guava pastelito, apple fritter, and donut holes. Right now, there's a Yelp check-in offer for a free pastry (up to $5 value), so our pastelito ended up being free! Service was speedy, patient, and friendly. Note: this location is different from the Optimist Hall one, which also serves coffee and sandwiches. This is JUST a bakery. (TBH, I wouldn't mind the cafe offerings here too though! We recently hosted a breakfast party in the park which Suarez accommodated seamlessly. Opens at 9, preorder ready, pop off to the park and, boom! Delicious. Fresh dough is the best. I tried their banana bread and it had the perfect texture moist but not soggy. You can tell it was freshly baked. They used paper wrappers and clean trays, which made everything feel sanitary. What a perfect sweet treat! Suárez is well known in Charlotte and they did not disappoint! Located in Park Road Shopping Center, there is plenty of parking and space to sit or walk and devour the sweet treats. I placed my order online as soon as they opened. I wasn't going to be able to pick up until later in the day and wanted to make sure I could get what I had my heart set on without it selling out. When placing an order online you have until the end of the day to pick it up from the store-which is super nice! I went into the small space to pick up my order and waited for a few people in front of me to order their treats. My box was in a fridge and the worker showed me my food before I left. Everyone was super friendly and the system they have there seems to run without a hitch! The creamed horns were delicious and definitely recommend if you can't decide! I came here recently as we were already at the Park Road Shopping Center and I wanted to give Suarez Bakery a try after having them at their Optimist Hall location which does not offer nearly as much variety. What I got: Oreo Cheesecake - My favorite dessert is an oreo cheesecake, so I knew I had to try their version. Theirs was good with a nice consistency, and it definitely tasted like a cookies and cream cheesecake. It does not beat my favorite oreo cheesecake in the Charlotte area, as I prefer to have large chunks of oreo in or on top of my oreo cheesecake, but this was still a good version that I would get again since it was a good value for your own mini cheesecake. Chocolate Chip Cookie Sandwich - I had already had this one previously and loved it, so I knew I wanted it again!  So many chocolate chunks in their chocolate chip cookie.  I'm a huge icing fanatic, so a cookie sandwich was perfect for me, although I wouldn't hesitate to just get a cookie the next time. I think they have good portions and items are good size. I do not always feel the products are consistent as I have had dry cookies and cakes. I must also say the prices are pretty high and the stores are in the higher areas of town. Just keep that in mind, but give them a try as you will most definitely find something you will enjoy. I spent a few years working in a pie shop and love pie. The Suarez Bourbon Pecan is the absolute best pecan pie I've found. I have seen their beautiful work with custom cookies so I was excited when a few errands brought me to this shopping center. I decided to pop in while in the area. It was not busy on a Wednesday afternoon, the bakery was stocked with cookies, donuts, cheese cakes, cake balls, and croissants. I decided to pick my husband up a croissant- there were 2 flavors available which were pumpkin spice and cookies and cream. I chose the cookies and cream for $6 (really expensive IMO). The presentation of the croissant is 5 stars but the taste is 3 stars. There was not much filling in the center, in fact, we were convinced that this was a plain croissant dipped in cookies and cream frosting with no filling in the center. Eventually we found some filling but it was just oddly dispersed throughout the croissant. Overall, I'd order custom cookies from here for a party. Let me start with Wow! Suárez bakery is a nice addition to Optimist Hall. They have a variety of items to choose from. They even have a few food items! The presentation of their pastries and cookies are so inviting. I passed once but had to return to grab the last raspberry croissant. If you love raspberry you will really enjoy the raspberry croissant. Equally good is the chocolate croissant. The chocolate oozes out! You will be surprised with the weight of these croissants.
