The food is amazing. It is genuine Argentinian home cooked cuisine. I would go there every day if I could, but also the owner is an amazing person treat us really well. I'm looking forward to go back. read more

Finally! A restaurant with real pastries! I popped into Elena's for a late solo lunch and I was pleasantly surprised. The restaurant was cozy and cute. There were pastries everywhere, which was overwhelming in a good way. I started out with the chicken Milanese sandwich, which was the top recommendation from the waitress. The bread was so soft and delicious, it melted in my mouth. I also tried the spinach and cheese and the corn empanadas. I had absolutely no complaints. Everything was fresh and delicious. I will definitely go there more often for lunch. It's a convenient place to grab a bit while you work. I will be back!! read more

Today's visit was based on my date's desire to try something familiar to her native palate. Elena's is between the two of us, so we decided to met there to try their Argentinian and other Latin cuisine. The interior is pretty no nonsense, but nice, with floor space dominated by moderate seating and large displays showcasing sweet offerings. I ordered the Lomito Argentino with fries, and she ordered the Milanese meal with Russian potato salad on the side The food was tasty, though a little salty for my preference. My date thought her Russian potato salad was a little dry and underseasoned. She added an order of café de Leche at the end of the meal and was extremely underwhelmed with the paper cup it was delivered to the table in. Plus, according to her, it wasn't hot. She felt if they had used a ceramic coffee cup they could've served it hotter. That said, she did leave with a box full of pastries to take home to her family. So in the grand scheme, she may be a lot happier now than she was right after our meal concluded. I would like to go back to try some of their pasta dishes. They sounded amazing. read more

Stopped here while in town for work. What a gem!!! Enjoyed some home made empanadas and they were outstanding. The chimichuri sauce was excellent. Definitely want to come back to try some of the homemade pasta dishes. This is definitely worth a visit and a return! read more

She proceeded to tell me more about the culture of the Argentinian way and the various foods and delicacies of the country that is so warming and welcome. Her story of how she knew the owners is a very testament of what God can do in a person's life to be the light - An example of all of us. The girl who helped me today (I didn't get her name) was incredibly friendly! She had a smile that never faded! I asked her what the pastry was that I ultimately bought (I've uploaded a picture), and she told me the name and gave me a description of it that made it impossible to pass on! Unfortunately I've forgotten what it was called (in my defense, I'm painfully Caucasian so the name went in one ear and out the other). The coffee was also delicious! And the prices are incredibly great for the quality! There are tables that you can sit at if you choose to eat in, and the shop is quiet and welcoming! Refreshing to have some diversity in Gastonia other than Mexican food. Coming from Miami we haven't found any Argentinian food. This little restaurant is nice and although they don't have many of your typical Argentinian menu items we enjoyed our lunch. I had the pollo Milanesa a caballo with papitas and it was delicious. The owner was very friendly and even made my wife puré de papa despite it not being on the menu. They have homemade pastas too which I wouldn't mind trying next time. My only issue with all Latin restaurants in North Carolina is how expensive they are in comparison with South Florida. What we ordered would normally cost 10-12 bucks in Miami. Here it's grossly inflated and just isn't worth it for me. I would still come back one more time to try the pasta but it's just too pricey for me for what it is. I had a pistachio cone too and it wasn't that great it was too doughy and not fresh tasting. I wish them the best of luck because you can tell they're nice folks. read more

Stopped in for lunch today on a whim. Ordered a couple empanadas to take back to the office and I was very happy with my lunch decision. The dough had the perfect bite to it and the filling was very flavorful. Service was quick and very friendly. Will definitely be coming back.
