I had never heard of this company. Discovered them at Front Porch Fest and the associate was so kind and knowledgeable. I'm a sucker for chocolate and peanut butter and man.. these cookies were so good . 100 stars

I absolutely love honeybear bake shop! All of the cookie flavors rotate weekly with their being speciality themed boxes most weeks as well. The themes are so creative and unique, I love seeing what they come up with! You can order the cookies online for weekly pick-ups at a shared kitchen, and they are also served at local markets, pop-up events and a few other establishments like coffee shops or breweries. I highly recommend any of the cookies, the cinnamon rolls (a must!!) the croissants, or any of the other fun pastries. Definitely give honeybear a try!!

I was finally able to remember to order from Honeybear Bake Shop and get an order in before they sold out online. The process was super easy. You have to order a minimum of 6 cookies. I ordered 7 cookies during this order. This week had a great selection to choose from. I got these cookies in my: the Milk & Cookies, Half Baked, Blueberry Muffin, 2 Strawberry Shortcake and 2 Butterscotch Biscoff Cheesecake. I couldn't pick one of the cookies to be my favorite. They were all delicious. They each had such great taste. They lasted for several days and were of a good size I could break off little nibbles to enjoy. The Bakeshop is apart of the City Kitch. It is a ghost restaurant/shop. The selection of cookies change week by week. You can either pick up your order at the commercial kitchen, the Matthew Farmer's Market or have them sent to you. I did the pick up at the commercial kitchen. When picking up just use the kiosk to let them know you are there. It's fine if you don't come at your scheduled time as long as you get your cookies before close of business at 5pm. Theme & Cookies I'm in! Love the Honeybear Baked Shop way you get a surprise menu of what's to order starting on Sunday. This week was the breakfast boxes. All your favorite blended breakfast items into 6 scrumptious cookies. Just put it like this if I was high I could tell you what took place from start to finish with this amazing feel you get eating her cookies. They were very moist and fresh to taste. She was not skimpy on the ingredients at all. I'm a new everlasting customer coming all the way from the gas house.

THESE. COOKIES!!!! I can't get over them, and every week I have to excercise self-control and not order them. I've never had anything like these. I love that the menu changes weekly and is seasonal. My faves are the throwbacks to growing up, like strawberry poptart (yyuuummm!!!). These cookies are dangerous but in a fun way. The only downside, was I was super confused picking them up, but I also didn't read the instructions all the way.

I was super excited to try these cookies. I have been hearing about them for months and thought I was ordering from HBBS recently but it was a different bakery. Oops. I've been to CityKitch before, but never during the day. When I walked into the lobby, the first thing I noticed is that the pickup shelf was moved to a side wall and on the wall where I'm used to seeing the shelving unit, there's actually a pickup window! I got 3 of this week's cookies: apple crumb pie, Sugar Rush Crumb Cake Cookie and salted caramel brownie. Apple crumb pie was my fav! It was delicious. It had apples, apple pie/crumb filling and even pie crust in the center. Yum!! My next fav was the salted caramel brownie because, well... chocolate and caramel. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Sugar rush crumb - I liked the powdered sugar on top. I made the mistake of tasting this after the apple crumb and didn't have the same wow factor. But when I went back later for more, I started with the crumb cake cookie and it's very good! The cookies were soft and chewy and had lots of flavor! I loved the unique combos and am looking forward to trying others in the future. I'd definitely order again.

Ben and Jerry's 2.0 Box: Tonight dough, chunky monkey, strawberry cheesecake, peanut butter cup, half baked, American dream cone

Probably the most unique and fun cookies I've ever had! I love that she does a different themed box each week. Follow Honeybear on Instagram to find out the weekly flavors! This week was Ben and Jerry's 2.0 box. It was amazing! My favorite flavor was the tonight dough. It was so gooey and rich. Second favorite was strawberry cheesecake because of the frosting and strawberry jam! Then peanut butter cup. Half baked was a little more cakey than the others so it wasn't as good, but it was still tasty. And the American dream cone had so much caramel! It was really good but the waffle cone pieces were too chewy. My least favorite was chunky monkey because I'm not a fan of banana. It had a really strong banana flavor. I also was able to get the special Yelp box for members of the Yelp Elite Squad. It had really interesting flavors. I loved the pineapple coconut one and the crumb cake one. They were so moist! The corn and pimento cheese cookie was a little dry, but still had great flavor. Overall I love the flavors and how unique they are! I can't wait to try future boxes or even visit when she does pop ups at local breweries and farmers markets!

Cinnamon Roll, PB&J, Strawberry Shortcake, Gordgeous Pumpkin Caramel, Peanut Butter Captain Crunch, and New York Cheesecake Cookies

Let me tell you about the best cookies in Charlotte. I was browsing Instagram one day back in August when Jess L. posted about some amazing looking cookies from a new bake shop one of his clients was opening. I immediately started following honeybear. Then she does a giveaway for her test cookies before she opens to the public. I'm the giveaway queen, so I obviously entered. Lucky me, I won! She gave us a box of 10 cookies. They were amazing. Every single one. They're such unique flavors and they're executed beautifully. In the weeks since, she has exploded in popularity. I avoided the temptation to order more for a while because we had dessert overload. Then this week's boxes hit and I couldn't resist. How it works: she posts the weekly flavors on Instagram on Sunday. You have until Wednesday to order on her website. Pickup is at her location in City Kitch on Friday or Saturday. She does curbside. She is the nicest, friendliest, and most accommodating person! Some of my favorite cookies so far: PB&J, Gordgeous Pumpkin Caramel, Strawberry Shortcake, Blueberry Muffin, Corn and Pimento Cheese, Key Lime Pie. They're all so good though. Some others I really enjoyed: Cinnamon Roll, New York Cheesecake, Peanut Butter Captain Crunch. The S'mores is incredibly popular (Anthony loves it, I don't like chocolate). Go support this wonderful baker and get some amazing cookies! $15 per half dozen.

I'm typically not a fan of cookies--its definitely not my dessert if choice. That being said, Honeybear Bake Shop has cookies that have me reconsidering what is my favorite dessert. The cookies at Honeybear are my favorite in all of Charlotte. I'm fairly certain I've tried nearly every treat that Honeybear has to offer and all of them have been appetizing. Some are better than others but that's a matter of personal preference. Find a flavor that you enjoy and you will be in heaven.

One of my orders
Megan T.

Long overdue for this review. I've ordered a couple times as well as gone to Honeybear's first pop up bake sale. There is one this weekend that I am hoping to get to go to! Anthony pretty much said it correctly - everything is really good, have not had something I have disliked; however, there are definitely things that I like better than others - so some I would order 10 more times and some I would not order again, all a matter of personal preference. My favorite cookies: Cinnamon roll, half baked (half chocolate chip half brownie), pimento cheese and corn, triple chocolate chip (actually my number one favorite), peach, and cookie butter sammie. Honorable mentions: pb&j, crème brulee, smores, red velvet, and jungle mix. The lays z day brownie that I got from the bake sale was also amazing. No idea what that was - some sort of brownie and rice krispy treat combo. I also had the cinnamon roll rice krispy, but just prefer the cookie version. My only critiques: *I'm not a huge fan of the box of 6 or 12, so I prefer the bake sale when you can get what you want, whether it be 4 items or 9 items. Sometimes you just don't need 6 cookies for 2 people, but sometimes you can't say no to all the scrumptious flavors! *It would be nice to see descriptions of cookies on the website. Sometimes descriptions make an appearance on Instagram, but when you are ordering, it is nice to have it all in one spot. Service is always 100% fantastic. Hannah is sweet and is open to criticism, requests, etc. Highly recommend ordering cookies if you have the opportunity!

Not your average sugar cookie, honey bear graham, brown butter nutella chocolate chip
Diana D.

Wow i don't even know where to begin. I have been getting these cookies for over a year now & let's just say that hannah and her crew make the best tasting cookies and pastries that i have ever had. Hannah's creations are so unique yet delicious i dont know how she does it!!!! Like a croissant stuffed with nutella and a cookie.. with toasted marshmallow fluff on top. Like what??!?! And the croissant is perfectly flaky too!!!! It's definitely my all time favorite thing to buy from HBB. my second fav is her honey graham cookies. Cookie base made from crushed honey teddy grahams, on top is a honey/vanilla ish icing that is sooo creamy and soft and so delish. Plus some honey teddy grahams on top with her sparkly edible glitter. Like WOW!! I got a donut today that was stuffed with a cookie!!! I could go on forever about all her other moist & chewy cookies (and trust me I have to everyone i know) but i'll try to keep it somewhat short and sweet. All you gotta know is if you haven't had her cookies yet, track her down at a market or order for pick up on fridays at city kitch NOW. P.s. if you want a cookie/pastry that is super popular like the croissant, i recommend going and lining up before the market/pop up opens because those bad boys will sell out immediately. And yes she always has a line! When: Pre order pick up city kitch fridays or sometimes weekends at markets like matthews farmers markets. She also does pop ups too with separate menus she releases on instagram. Food: 5/5 Service: 5/5 - Always a smile on Hannah's face or one of her assistants when i see them Other: ask for a loyalty card. If you go enough and get it stamped it'll earn you a free box of cookies!!! Parking at city kitch is plentiful. Oh and ALWAYS show up early to a pop up or market because there is ALWAYS a like and they will sell out almost right away for the favorites.

Cookie pick ups are the best!

My foodie friend turned me on to Honeybear Bake Shop and my summer body goals have gone out the door ever since! Not only are their cookies completely out of this world delicious, they are just about the most creative & beautiful cookies I have ever seen & eaten. This beautiful batch of cookies was part of the cereal themed cookie box and my Lord....they were delicious! I don't know how Honeybear does this consistently, but they are killin' the cookie game. Honeybear is located in City Kitch and the pickup process is super easy & seamless. Trust me...try them ASAP!

Couldn't even get a picture of my cookies before I started sampling

You just need caffeine, carbs, and five minutes to reset your mood. I already knew exactly what I wanted, so this turned into a tactical pastry mission. Pulled into the little Piedmont Town Center circle with the fountain, double parked for a hot second, ran inside, grabbed an iced coffee and a mango croissant, and got right back out into Charlotte traffic. The mango croissant was flaky, buttery, lightly sweet, and filled with enough cream to make the entire stop worth it. Perfect little energy boost when your social battery and shopping patience are both running low. The location itself is great for a quick pop-in. Cute little area with hotels, restaurants, and walkable spots nearby. Easy place to grab a sweet treat before continuing your day. Life is too short to not eat well, Charlotte. They had offered samples of their lemon tart at the event, which stayed on my mind--so I came back and ordered the Lorraine-style quiche. It was rich, flavorful, and perfectly balanced by a fresh side salad. I paired it with a café au lait, which was equally well done. The ambiance is effortlessly chic--very much reminiscent of a European café--and it was lively during lunch. It's the kind of place where you can sit, linger, and people-watch... and SouthPark definitely showed up in style. At one point, several guests seated near us were speaking French, which added to the authenticity and overall experience. Service was warm and efficient, even with the crowd. The bakery itself is on the smaller side--you order inside and then head outside to sit and eat. I went on a Sunday, so it was very busy with a long line, but it moved quickly. When seating fills up, the neighboring restaurant allows use of their patio, which is a thoughtful touch. My friend enjoyed her quiche as well, and we both agreed it's a spot worth returning to--whether for a casual lunch, coffee, or a pastry break. I also order a few macarons to go and my family enjoyed them.

Review for Renaissance Patisserie…read more After relocating to Charlotte from San Francisco, one of the first things I searched for was a proper kouign-amann (pronounced queen-ah-mahn). It's a staple where I'm from, and when I discovered that Renaissance Patisserie carried it, I made the drive immediately. I'm happy to say--this place is the real deal. The kouign-amann here reminded me of the ones back in San Francisco. It wasn't quite as buttery or rich as some of the West Coast versions, but it was absolutely enjoyable--and most importantly, I finished every bite. That alone says a lot. Location & setting: Renaissance is tucked into the upscale specialty shops of SouthPark, in a lovely, polished shopping center surrounded by quality retailers like Williams Sonoma and several restaurants. Parking is plentiful and convenient, and once you step out of your car, you're welcomed into a charming outdoor courtyard that feels relaxed and refined. You'll immediately notice the bright yellow awning--it's cheerful and inviting--and inside, the bakery is just as charming. The black-and-white tile floors, small bistro tables, and beautifully arranged pastry case create a classic European feel. It's not a huge space--maybe six or seven tables--but it feels cozy, elegant, and thoughtfully designed. What makes it special: * A stunning pastry case filled with beautifully crafted desserts and laminated pastries * Skilled bakers and decorators--you can tell there's real craftsmanship behind the products * Friendly, efficient service * Apple Pay accepted (always appreciated) * Self-service water and condiments station * Clean, comfortable environment * A lovely outdoor patio that's perfect when the weather cooperates I do wish they occasionally experimented with more creative variations of the kouign-amann--perhaps seasonal fruit or specialty flavors--but even in its classic form, it's consistently a hit. I've brought these pastries to friends and gatherings, and they're always well received. What I appreciate most is that Renaissance delivers on quality and consistency. It may be a newer trend here in Charlotte, but these pastries have been a long-standing favorite in cities like San Francisco, and it's wonderful to see that level of craftsmanship available locally. Bottom line: Beautiful pastries, fair prices, great service, and a polished, welcoming atmosphere. This has become my go-to bakery in Charlotte, and if you appreciate well-made French pastries, you will not be disappointed.

Review for Amélie's French Bakery & Café…read more As a transplant from the West Coast--specifically San Francisco, where high-quality bakeries and true French pâtisseries are plentiful--I was genuinely excited to try Amélie's after moving to Charlotte. Unfortunately, my experience was disappointing, and after giving it more than one chance, it's simply not a place I plan to return to. The concept feels more like a themed destination than a serious bakery. The interior is whimsical and eye-catching, with decorative elements like a faux Eiffel Tower, which clearly appeals to visitors looking for a fun atmosphere. However, if you've spent time in authentic French cafés or bistros, you know the real charm is understated elegance--wood, mirrors, tile, and craftsmanship. This felt more theatrical than authentic. Where it fell short for me was the food. For a place calling itself a French bakery and pâtisserie, the absence of classic laminated pastries was surprising. I was expecting staples like Napoleons, kouign-amann, or beautifully executed croissants. What I found instead were pastries that looked average and lacked the refinement and technique you'd expect from a true pâtisserie. On my visits, I tried: * A leek soup that was supposed to be cream-based but tasted thin and under-seasoned--more like warm vegetable water than a properly developed soup. * A baguette sandwich with fig, Brie, and apple that sounded promising but was poorly executed. The bread was overly hard, and the balance of ingredients felt off, making the sandwich less enjoyable than expected. I gave Amélie's two chances, hoping the second visit would change my impression. It didn't. To be fair, the café clearly has a loyal following and works well as a social or casual gathering spot. But if you're specifically looking for high-quality French pastries or refined bakery craftsmanship, there are stronger options in the Charlotte area. Personally, I'd recommend: * Renaissance Patisserie for more traditional European-style pastries * Paris Baguette at Rea Farms for consistency and better execution * Or trusted local favorites closer to home Bottom line: Fun atmosphere, but the food didn't meet expectations for a French bakery. After multiple visits, it's a pass for me.

That search led me to Vicente in South End, and I'm happy to say it absolutely earned its spot on my list. The kouign-amann here was slightly lighter and a bit less dense and buttery than the ones I remember from the Bay Area, but it still hit all the right notes--caramelized edges, flaky layers, and just enough indulgence to satisfy the craving. When you find one in Charlotte, you take note. I also ordered a frangipane (marzipan) croissant, which is always one of my go-to pastries when it's done well. This one delivered--rich, nutty, and comforting without being overly sweet. I'm not much of a chocolate pastry person, so I tend to gravitate toward custard- or almond-filled items, and this bakery clearly understands how to execute those classics. The space itself is beautiful--clean glass storefront, modern aesthetic, and a welcoming feel from the moment you walk in. It's attached to a large apartment complex with underground parking, which makes it surprisingly easy to access. Very walkable, very convenient, and refreshingly low-stress compared to some of the trendier spots. The staff were friendly and helpful, and the prices felt reasonable for the quality. One small wish: I'd love to see a late-day pastry special or a loyalty program. I'm the kind of regular who will absolutely show up more often if there's an incentive--and let's be honest, pastries are hard to resist when there's a little nudge. I'll definitely be back, especially if they start experimenting with more creative flavors. A kouign-amann with poached fruit--nectarine, mango, or passionfruit--would have me running back through the door. And candidly, I'm grateful Charlotte's pastry scene is still growing. It means there's room for bakeries like this to shine and keep raising the bar. As someone who loves good food, I'm always rooting for local bakers and artisans to succeed. Bottom line: A beautiful neighborhood bakery with solid execution, friendly service, and a kouign-amann worth the trip. I'll be back--and I'm keeping an eye on that pastry case.

The croissant I sampled was dry, implying unkindly that the flaky pastry dough was either formerly frozen or not fresh, and while croissants aren't exactly the moistest pastry to be found, the idea behind making them is kneading and rolling in a lot of butter, which I truly could not taste. What a disappointment. And somehow, somehow, my latte, albeit freshly prepared before me, was lukewarm when I took my first sip on the way to the car. How is that even possible? At the last minute, I asked for caramel to be added to my drink, but that was imperceptible too. I'd forgotten to ask for it to be half sweet, so I guess that was a blessing in disguise. When you stop by a bakery late in the day you sort of pays your money and takes your chances, but I visited just before noon. No crowds either. Disappointing all around, though again, the ambiance invites lingering. Cute bistro, lovely people, but - and I cannot believe I'm saying this - I'd have done better at the nearby Starbucks if all I wanted to do was get a latte and pastry. As the French would say, domage.
