Went in for macarons and grabbed the last two. Vanilla and sea salt chocolate. So good! I will be back for pistachio. Carrot cupcake also pictured. Loved the cake. The icing was a little too sweet to me, but I may just not used to it. From reading the reviews, I will have to come back and try a bagel! Very cute inside area. Was told by owner that all things were cooked fresh daily. No way this carrot cup cake was cooked anytime close to today. Icing was hard and cake was dry. Traveling or I would have returned it. read more

Ordered a dozen, 1/2 chocolate, 1/2 vanilla with cream cheese frosting. So yummy!! My boyfriend who isn't big on sweets admitted he forgot how good cupcakes could be. The bakery was very helpful and understanding while waiting for my gender reveal results. Communication was simple and they delivered exactly what I asked for, when I asked for them! We couldn't even wait to jump in and take a bite when we got them, for many reasons of course. Great bakery and service. Can't wait to go back and try the sweets behind the counter! read more

I went at 7:20 but the cases were mostly empty. The website says they open at 7 but they were still baking. The bagel was good, fresh, crispy on the outside and fluffy/chewy in the middle. The crumb cake was horrible. The "cake" part on the bottom tasted like raw dough. It was very heavy - I threw it away. I'd go back only for bagels. read more

I had so much hope for this place but was unfortunately disappointed. I have been on the hunt for good cannolis, so I called to ask if they had them, I was told they did. When I arrived, there were three shells in the case. I looked at the others pastries and spotted a lone piece of tiramisu that didn't look fresh, but, they had a sign directly behind the counter stating everything is baked fresh daily so I risked it and got it. I ordered two cannolis, the tiramisu and headed home to enjoy them after dinner. The positives - the shell seemed fresh and the cream had plenty of chocolate chips, but it was also dry and pasty. I'm a huge lover of sweets and couldn't even finish it. I then took a few bites of the tiramisu, same thing, dry and not fresh. I went on a Monday and it's possible that these were weekend leftovers, but in any event I won't be back. read more

This review is for the bagels. I'm from ny and live in spartanburg, sc. Driving through today and stopped looking for a bathroom and snack (they have no bathroom). This mostly had goodies but there was one everything bagel left. No toaster but none needed as this bagel was the best I've had in all of this area. Happily will stop here for bagels next time I'm in there area. Oh, and there is a QT nearby for a bathroom and a Starbucks across the way for your fancy coffee, folks. read more

Dough is a New York style bakery in Afton Village. While I didn't ask it appears the owners run the store so they are there waiting on customers. Personally I think it's a great touch. They can quickly tell you about each tasty treat. The store has a few tables and chairs if you want to sit and eat your dessert there. They have a nice display and a great variety. Ordered a 8" cheesecake (attached picture) for my sons birthday. Half strawberry half blueberry. Because I couldn't try it until his birthday I had to buy a few samples of a different kind. I bought a chocolate chip cookie that looked wonderful. I gave it right to one of my boys so it didn't go to my hips. He said it was great. You could definitely tell it was freshly baked. I also bought the Brooklyn Bomb. Triple chocolate. Chocolate cake. Chocolate pudding, chocolate ganache. Does that say heaven? Yes, yes it did. Will be exercising a bit harder as that one likely landed on my butt. Can't wait to try the cheesecake! Will have to update you tomorrow. read more

I passed this store heading toward the car wash, New York Bakery. Having been born and raised in Brooklyn, the name seems appealing. So I told my wife let's check it out. We were greeted quickly after entering the store! Your mouth can water just looking at the sweet choices in front of you in the display. We visited the bakery after dinner. Since it was the very end of the day the display cases weren't as full as usual. We were still able to find something that we liked. I got a handmade cream puff. it was really good. My wife got an eclair. Our purchase totaled $7.99. That was fair for what we got in return. The owners were working the counter. lovely family-owned bakery. The people are down to earth and make incredible pies! Ordered the Pumpkin Pie and Apple Crumb Pie for thanksgiving. They were super busy with others like me coming in and picking up pies so Inventory was low on other baked goods. The pies were incredible. Especially the apple crumb. Everybody raved! I'm giving this place a 1 star for the customer service! Today was my first time visiting the bakery, they had delicious looking desserts I wanted to try. The worker came out on the phone he never greeted me he never said hold on to the person that he was on the phone just to say I'll be with you in second. I gave him a few minutes & I was the only person in the store! I walked out. I love desserts too bad I never got a chance and I will never go back because if that's the type of service I'll get I'm not gonna spend my money there! read more

My family and I stopped in on Thanksgiving morning to have bagels and coffee. Service was great as always, and so were the bagels....my daughter loves the cinnamon raisin. (These sell out quickly!) Before we left, I decided that since my cake didnt work out we would grab something from the bakery. We got lucky that they had two pies left to sell and we chose the Pecan Pie. We were very happy with our purchase. The pie was awesome, great ratio of pecans to filling (like my mommas!!) Just the way we like it. Gooey and crunchy!!! This is a cute, local bakery. The owner is really sweet. She has prepared several pies for me on short notice. I wish I could give this place a higher rating because the staff is so friendly and accommodating. I have used this bakery a few times, hoping that I would be more impressed with the products, but that didn't happen. The pastries are just okay. The selection/quantity of items in the display case are limited and they taste a bit dry/stale. Also, I've ordered pecan pies to bring to holiday dinners. The pies did taste good, but the consistency was a bit off. They didn't hold their shape. By the time I served them, they were a gooey mess. It pains me to say this, but I wouldn't recommend this place. I gave it two stars because the service is good. The food needs work. read more

We had a sudden bereavement situation in the Concord area and needed same day delivery of some comfort food. The staff at Dough could not have been nicer or more professional. They took the order by phone, which we truly appreciated as others mandate online orders or downloading an App. They put together a beautiful assortment, delivered it within an hour of my call, and texted a photo of what they sent. Our family loved the variety of fantastic pastries and we are truly grateful for the sympathy and professionalism of everyone at Dough. I am not super familiar with this area. I looked for a unique coffee/bakery place to meet a friend for coffee. I looked this place up on Yelp and saw it was a bakery and was excited to go in! First off, this wasn't the best location to meet up for coffee. This is definitely just catered for bakery items! I ordered a coffee and the man popped in a kcup to a Keurig. So again, if you are looking for a coffee shop with variety this might not be the spot. As for the bakery items..they were delicious! I order a stuffed cookie and a Brooklyn blackout. Both very tasty!! I would recommend them for sure! The bakery items ranged $3-4 but were worth the price. There are only 2 tables in the store so if you are planning to meet up with people or a group then the space is limited. read more

Stopped by in the evening for something sweet. Grabbed a cinnamon roll for Sunday breakfast and wow!! This was made from scratch - moist, not too sweet, great blend of cinnamon and the frosting stood up when warmed. In addition got the Manhattan dessert and it was amazing and light. Decided to try this place out after moving from Charlotte and being spoiled with great bakery selections. Husband and wife bakery. I struck up a conversation with him about the area and the store's history. His wife is a pastry chef and they both moved from the NY/NJ area. Super friendly! Great atmosphere. Lots of choices. Nothing comes in frozen or prepackaged, it's all fresh and made in house from scratch. Thankful to find a place that takes their sweets seriously . We will be back! read more

I ordered a simple cake for a friend's birthday. I was very specific with the way I wanted the words written on the side of the cake. I also asked for the cake to be ready by 2pm today. When I went to pick up the cake at 3pm the clerk told me that he was going to put the message on the cake. Why wasn't that already done? When he finally brought it out, he had put the message on the cardboard that the cake sat on. This is the same person who took the order. I didn't have time to wait for him to redo the icing to add the words to the cake. I was embarrassed to explain to my friend how cute the cake could have been but wasn't. I specifically went to this bakery to support a local business. Next time, I'll go back to Publix. read more

Thank you so much for the allergen free cupcakes for my daughter's class. They were beautiful and it was such a treat to have ALL the children in the class enjoy them. Established in 2011.

DOUGH got it's start at the local farmers markets in Concord, and the greater Charlotte area. Pastry Chef Dawn Adinolfe received her training at the Institute of Culinary Education in New York City, under the tutelage of renowned Pastry Chef Nick Malgieri. After working in NYC restaurants 111 Madison and Blue Smoke, Dawn with her husband Brian moved to North Carolina to be near family. Before opening DOUGH, Dawn was pastry chef for Maggianos Little Italy, Charlotte, The University of North Carolina - Charlotte, and Toast in Davidson.

No greeting, the lady behind the counter just walked up and started pulling desserts out as we were talking amongst ourselves and trying to decide on them, so felt a little rushed. Also, I guess they save the good boxed packaging for customers they like, so if you are offered styrofoam then that means you didn't make the list lol. The way we were stared at the entire time and rudely handed the receipt to sign after our purchase made the entire visit an uncomfortable vibe and as if we were being a bother. And just for future reference, yes please offer your customers a bag to carry multiple items they purchased, thanks. If you decide to stop in though, the white chocolate mousse was pretty tasty lol (that's what the one star is for, otherwise, it would be a zero for me).

It was difficult to decide what to get. They had so many options, but everything held up to the highest standard and quality. When we got there, there was a line out the door, however, the line moved very quickly, and it was definitely worth the wait. I do wish they had more of a seating area.
