We came back to this bakery again after using them for my daughter's first birthday cupcakes and it was still amazing! This time we got a gluten free cake with dye free sprinkles and it was exactly what I wanted, and delicious!! Came out exactly like the inspo photo I sent in. We walked by here on a Saturday night around 7 pm and it was closed, but we saw people inside and one customer picking up a cake. We made eye contact, but kept walking. We circled back a few minutes later and the one worker came out and opened the shop back up for us. I think it helped that we had a bunch of kids with us. Needless to say, we bought a ton of stuff and was limited to what was on display. The inside of the shop is cute, but there is no room to eat there. The decor is old school and feels very mom and pop. I had the red velvet cupcake, which was very good! I also had a bite of a friend's vanilla chai cheesecake. The slice was huge and was so good, extremely rich, this slice is sharable for sure. The staff was great and we are grateful for them opening just for us! read more

The best cupcakes ever!!! Always fresh, always yummy. They are large and I usually cut them in half. My granddaughter loves the macaroons. Today she got vanilla with sprinkles. She loves sprinkles! I can't say enough good things about this bakery! I ordered a white chocolate raspberry cake for my daughter's 16th birthday celebration. The cake was absolutely beautiful! She wanted swans on top and Lori made them herself!! The cake itself was the moistest cake I've ever had. It was just pure joy!! The only negative thing I will say is that you will likely have to find parking in a parking garage several buildings down because there is no parking near this cute little shop. This is located in downtown Concord where the roads are narrow, the buildings are old, and there's lots of construction. It's not a bad thing, but it's something to be aware of. My boyfriend and I stopped in about two hours before closing and we snatched up the majority of what was left in the case. We got two s'mores cupcakes and two peach cupcakes for our friend, I got some sort of caramel macaron, which made me wonder what the heck I had been eating until now. These macarons were next level! If all you've ever had is from Target's bakery, Komma Tea, or Sunflower Bakery, seriously try them here! I got a strawberry cake bomb, which was basically like a cake pop minus the stick. It was so moist and tender and delicious. I may or may not have moaned while eating it, just saying. My boyfriend snatched up a bunch of their caramelitas, and he is obsessed with them now, talking about this being our regular bakery and needing to come back every now and again. He's seriously already talking about having this place make my birthday cake in September, so I'm going to have some serious thinking to do in terms of flavor and design. They did it again! They created an over-the-top birthday cake that was a work of art and tastes as good as it looks. We also got a dozen boozy cupcakes for the birthday party. You only turn 21 once in your life. We wanted a cake that celebrated this "rite of passage" in a big way. Lori created us a cake that is 100% edible and looks exactly like a Patron Tequila bottle. The base is made of fondant that looks like butcher block complete with salt and real lime slices! The body of the cake is red velvet. The outside is silver fondant. The inside of the bottle neck is rice crispy treat. It looks so realistic! We ordered boozy cupcakes to incorporate a real shot of tequila. They are Key Lime cupcakes with a Key Lime cream cheese frosting. Each cupcake comes with a liquor shot that you squeeze into the cupcake right before you eat it! Love The Sweet Life. We don't even live in Concord but both sets of parents do. They do the BEST gluten free cupcakes and are very willing to work with allergies. I've also tried their dairy free stuff and you couldn't tell the difference. This place has been amazing for my wife who has celiac and my mom who's gluten intolerant. Holy Moly I had no idea this cute little bakery was here. The owner is the sweetest. She was very kind and helped us promptly. The cupcake flavors change every week and the other desserts fluctuate. Located in downtown Concord, The Sweet Life provides the daily dessert specials to Gianni's Trattoria across the street, which is how we discovered this gem. (We always order the dessert special at Gianni's because we know it will be worth it!!) The cupcakes are gorgeous and taste even better than they look, which is no small feat. The cinnamon roll is huge and tasty and holds up well to reheating. We also just tried the Oreo cookies and cream cookie dough and really enjoyed it. I'm so sad to have to give this bakery 2 stars because I bought a cake from her May 2013 and it was amazing!!!! Unfortunately my most recent cake I picked up this past Saturday for my daughters Peppa Pig tea party at Discovery Place was such a disappointment. It was dry, dense, and burnt around the edges. Everyone literally had to eat around the burnt pieces of the cake and it was so embarrassing to have served such a cake to my guest because everything else was absolutely perfect at the party with the exception of the burnt cake. I'm not sure if they were too busy because it's wedding season or what but this was definitely a downer for me. The cake was decorated perfectly and you could tell had it not been burnt it would have tasted good but alas it was burnt and that changed the flavor and texture of the cake. read more

She was so easy to work with and even with it being so close to our wedding she never once made us feel stressed about it and really made picking out a cake a good experience.
