Would not take order of first round of drinks without looking at our ID's. My wife and I are in our sixties, it was embarrassing because they made a huge production out of it. (No other patrons that I saw were subject to this scrutiny) The Ugly: we each had one drink and shared two yellow tail sashimi starters. Upon asking for another round we were rather surprised to find out our party was cut off from the bar. Water and bread only. The sashimi eaten we took the indignation in stride and decided to wait until the barmaid deemed it acceptable to serve us again. Now it gets bad, one of our party became ill and threw up in the bathroom, before we could even find out what was going on with her, barmaid from hell publicly informed us because one of our party was ill we were permanently cut off from the bar. Not considering the food as the culprit of said illness at all. My wife began to feel sick as well and we paid and left. She had trouble walking, speaking and breathing. She became violently ill and the smell of bad fish was overwhelming. I have a portable breathalyzer for guests to use at my home to ensure their safety if they drink. My BAC - .023 , my wife's was .024 obviously not intoxicated. Shame on M on High for such poor judgement and embarrassing their patrons. They do occasionally have sales outside Ventura County, but they mostly assemble in the Thousand Oaks area. In the spring and fall, they tend to gravitate back to The Oaks Mall. My observation is that they do best when located at the East parking lot where the Thursday Farmers Market is held. On a (finally!) sunny Saturday, the market gathered dozens of vendors with vintage furniture, architectural salvage, all manner of accessories, plus a few dealers with jewelry and clothing. Cute signs, useful implements, paintings, and a general vibe of charm of bygone days pack the space. This summer, they will have two more market days on July 1st and August 5th. If you enjoy the vintage decorating vibe, put one of those dates of your calendar!

Kudos to Freda's for this. The Focaccia Rustico -- This was the best part of our meal. It came out freshly baked and so satisfyingly delicious as we dipped in the small bowl of olive oil and balsamic vinegar. Portions - Generous. Parking - Lots of options nearby and free. The disappointments...(see pics) Food delivery - There was a long wait during our visit. We overheard a waitress tell a table who arrived after us that the kitchen was backed up. Gnocchi -- This did not look like the picture on their website. The gnocchi was perfectly cooked but was barely covered with sauce. My husband initially thought that they served me Mac n' Cheese by mistake. I could not taste the sun-dried tomato at all. The added shrimp was seared on only one side and was severely under seasoned. Then as we drove home, I notice that the price we were charged ($25+$9 (shrimp)=$34) did not match the menu or the website that noted $24+$8=$32. This overcharge was minor but added to the overall disappointment. Braised Short Rib - This was closer to the website but with far less au jus. The carrots were terrible. They were not roasted, tasted boiled and had a rubbery texture. The short rib was fork tender but very salty. The mashed potatoes were good. We skipped dessert. Sadly, we won't be returning.
