Vegan Spring Rolls
Daisy T.

I ordered my food to go. Customer service was great. The food was amazing. I ordered the vegan spring rolls, fried tofu, khua Gai, and Garlic lover. Everything was delicious. I would reorder it again. So far the best vegan spring rolls I have had. But I also have not had many yet. Loved this place. I will have to dine-in to see what the experience is like.

Garlic Lover

Ordered the garlic lover with chicken. If you love garlic, you will love this dish. Served with white rice and vegetables (mushrooms, onions and yep...garlic) with the most delicious garlic sauce I have ever had. Very fresh and full of flavor. I will definitely be back to try more menu items.

The woman running the restaurant made three orders who came in after me, didn't admit that she forgot mine and then threw the noodles together. They were slopped on a plate and completely overcooked and mushy. My Pad See Ew cost $16 and was awful. I couldn't even finish the meal because it was so gross. I say this as an Asian and a person who will literally eat anything- do not waste your money here.

Yellow curry and Pad See Ew

Just not worth it in my opinion. I'd only eat here if it was the only Thai place open. Coming from the Bay Area, California where there's lots of competition and the thai food is generally very good. First things I noticed were the pad see ew noodles were mostly just noodles, usually I get more veggies and toppings when I order this. Some noodles were rather stiff and some tasted very salty. The tofu tasted like it was cooked separately and added as they were assembling the dish. I know it's common for the tofu to be prepped beforehand but somehow the flavors just didn't meld well. Yellow curry: unpeeled potato's, I know eating potato skin is fine but usually at Thai restaurants enjoy the skin removed. This also sounds silly the vegetables were unevenly cut. I never thought I'd complain about veggies not being cut nicely but I think Asian restaurants are good at this and it makes a difference in enjoying the food. Also this is one of very few times I've had rice that wasn't cooked nicely at an Asian restaurant. It was a bit dry and stiff... Overall I think it tastes like wannabe thai food that misses the mark. I joked that it doesn't have the Asian mom touch of being made with love and care. It just taste like food assembles into what can look and mimic Thai food.

11. Pad Kee Mao (with tofu)

Hole in the wall Thai restaurant in the middle of Eugene. You go up to the counter and order, and food comes out in about 10 min. There's tons of indoor and outdoor seating. Everything is made fresh in the kitchen, so food comes out piping hot! I ordered the pad kee mao with tofu ($12) which is a Thai basil based wide rice noodle dish with peppers and onions and egg. The pad kee mao was just okay - the tofu was a little burnt and veggies a little undercooked. The stir fry sauce was soy sauce based and didn't have a lot of Thai Basil unfortunately. My dish also wasn't spicy at all so I had to add hot sauce. The portion was huge and I was stuffed at the end. I feel like Eugene probably has other Thai food I'd try next time.

Yellow Curry

Medium heat was just right for me personally on the yellow curry. Enough spice to sweat but not too much burn. Pad See Ew was straight bussin. Best I've had and we have 4-5 other great local Thai restaurants

The food is fresh, steaming hot and delicious. I appreciate the range of heat offered in each dish and that it seems accurate every time I come here. This place is best as a to go order because the atmosphere is barrenness highlighted with stark florescent lighting. It's not about ambience here--its about getting your delicious food to go so you can enjoy it elsewhere.

Kee mao

For campus food this is tasty Thai food. It is not my favorite spot to go, but it is one of the better places to get Thai. Anytime I have gone it has been really busy, making you think you might not find a place to sit which has never been the case. I have always been able to find seating, and you bus your own tables after. The food has been hit or miss for me. This last time it was really good. We had the kee moa, and the cashew gai. We forgot to order the Thai iced tea this last time. I know I have had it here, I just can't remember what it was like. Must not have been bad, or I would have remembered. Ha! The fresh salad rolls didn't seem so fresh, but were still decent. The peanut sauce is really good...almost addicting good! I think I want to try the phad Thai next time just to try the peanut sauce.

1 piece of Broccoli, 1 piece of cabbage and 2 carrots in an over cooked Pad Se Ew that would be better described as soup.

Could have been MUCH better on a couple of occasions. I would love the opportunity to speak directly with the owner of Sweet Basil Express at 1219 Alder St, Eugene, OR 97401. My wife and I have considered this to be one of our favorite places to eat however, there are some behaviors by the workers at the location that need strong attention or they will risk losing patrons like us. The ones who spend several hundreds of dollars at your establishment annually. Max S, the Business Owner who wrote "I'm a believer in superb customer service and a good product for a fair price. I have an excellent reputation where I live as both a hotel owner and restaurateur. I like to believe I serve the best Thai food locally at Sweet Basil Express!" Make yourself available to have a discussion please.

Ordered off of grubhub, cold, bland, not spicy as I'd ordered. Sauce was sickeningly sweet, did i mention it was bland? Soup was ok.

This is the best fast thai food in Eugene! Their dishes are very flavorful and authentic. The only downfall is the service is subpar.

Ta Ra Rin Thai Cuisine - Green curry with beef and pad kee mao chicken

If you ever find yourself in Eugene with a rumbling stomach, do yourself a favor and stop by Ta Ra…read moreRin. I went in expecting a quick bite and left wondering if I should cancel my flight and commit to a long-term relationship with their menu. The service was the kind that makes you feel like a regular even if it's your first visit: attentive without hovering, friendly without forcing it. You know, the sweet spot most places miss by a mile. The ambiance strikes that rare balance: polished enough to feel like you made a good decision, but relaxed enough that no one's judging you for aggressively enjoying your curry. Now, the portions. Let's just say I arrived hungry and quickly realized I had made a tactical error by also having a flight to catch. The plates are generous. Borderline ambitious. Under different circumstances I would've happily taken half of it home. And the price? Genuinely refreshing. You get high-quality food, generous portions, and excellent service without that subtle sting of regret when the bill arrives. It feels almost suspiciously reasonable. I walked in trying to kill time before a flight and walked out wondering if I should start scheduling layovers in Eugene on purpose.

I had high expectations at this restaurant because the reviews on Yelp and local people raved how…read moreamazing this place is. I came here on a Sunday afternoon and the restaurant was bustling. We got seated right away at a booth with a window view. My waitress was an older Asian lady. She was very nice, not too talkative, but she was on top of her things. I was craving soup and decided on the highly recommended tom kha with tofu. To start, we had thai tea, thai coffee and the shrimp triangle. For our entrees, we decided on the pad see eu (they spell it pad se eu here), panang curry. The shrimp triangles were very yummy. Definitely get those. The thai tea and coffee was good, but just a little watered. I expected the taste to last in my mouth for a little bit. But it didn't. For the soup, I was excited to taste the soup! It smelled really good and it was boiling hot. My thought after my first sip of Tom Kha was, ok, this is good, they got it, but it just wasn't quite there. I couldn't pinpoint what was missing. Then I figured out that they didn't use full coconut milk. It was just a little bit and it was the lighter version. How disappointing! I wanted the robust tang, spice and coconut like how I have at home. The entrees made me sad. I really, really wanted to love it. The panang curry should be rich, thick and creamy. Instead it was soupy. I was really expecting and wanting the curry to stick to my rice, but instead it made soupy curry rice. My daughter pointed out that the curry and the tom kha soup was the same color and consistency. I didn't want to believe, but I think they used the same base and added the appropriate toppingss and seasonings to make a soup and a curry. My saddest dish was my last one that came out. It was the pad se eu. The wide rice noodles was wet and in broken pieces. I'm Asian and I'm from Vegas via Hawaii which means we have a lot of Asian cuisines, we know our food and have friends who work in high end Thai restaurants. (Think Lotus of Siam) When rice noodles break into smaller pieces, it means the noodles are probably not fresh and got hard. To soften, the cook used extra water and the heat was not high enough to cook, so it stuck to pan, making the cook mix it around more...broken wet noodles that doesn't brown. Overall, I really wanted to love this place. It has potential. Maybe it was an off day but on that day I went, it didn't give me the wow I expected. Most of the items has the taste on point. Please don't water down the curry or use lower fat coconut cream. I'm not used to having regular brocolli in thai food either, but I guess this is what Eugene likes or what we can get. And people, share your food! Thai food is family style! Share it! Put it in the middle of the table and let the other person have some! I was people watching around my table and my table was the only one that didn't have our own entree per person. lol

I'm very fond of orange chicken but when my friend orders her sweet and sour chicken I envy her peppers onions and pineapple. So today I could not resist the orange chicken because HERE it is served with the onion peppers and pineapple! Their sauce is FANTASTIC. And it comes with a choice of white, brown or sticky rice. I chose brown and it's not like traditional brown rice...it's much more delicious. It is tasty by itself without any sauce or seasoning. We came mid afternoon and I think we're the only people here. Our food still took a bit to arrive and the required time along with the heat suggests everything is prepared fresh. I loved it. The veggies were not over cooked. They were crispy! The pineapple is unfortunately canned but it's good. I like fresh better but canned is still good to me. I'll probably be back twice. Next time I'll have Pad Thai and then I'll have this orange chicken AGAIN because YES it's that good!!! If you find this review useful please VOTE!

When did this restaurant become UNtasty Thai Kitchen? From the moment we arrived, it felt off and…read moreit honestly could not have been a worse experience. Service was mediocre at best. We were the only ones in the dining room with two waitstaff. After we ordered, we hear someone from the kitchen yell, "oh shit!". We never learned why that was said but i can tell you that the dining experience was not pleasant. We started with an order of Spring Rolls, which were okay but extremely cold in the center - maybe they had been made far in advance and left in a very cold refrigerator for too long? Two sauces were served, but failed to provide spoons to use for those rolls - and we had to ask for serving utensils AND napkins. Then the extremely bland Tom Kha soup, served in a large bowl but then failed to provide individual bowls or spoons to eat it (come on servers, have you never eaten soup and know you need spoons and bowls for soup?!). UNtasty Thai Kitchen's take on phad thai was pretty terrible as well. And their larb (which they spell as laarp) was gritty and really unpleasant. We did not eat much of this meal and simply asked for boxes to take home... Upon leaving, I asked their staff if they recently had a change in the kitchen staff and they said no,.it was the same chef. If so,it certainly did not seem as it was a few months prior. You've lost three customers for this was a pretty awful experience. Happy to discuss this further, if you wish to reach out. UPDATE: Talked with their manager, Griffin, and he was very apologetic about the experience and offered either a credit or refund back to my account. HOWEVER, as of 4/14/26, this has YET to be resolved!

This…read moreis a noodle dish I ordered like a year ago, but I still remember it being good because it had the wide fresh noodles, plenty of flavor, and a lot of basil in there. I notice that their menu is huge, with a ton of specials. Great for those who want variety every time they come. 5 stars for friendliness and fast service. The guy who works there is as nice as can be. 1 star for salad rolls. It says "fresh vegetables" but the roll had one miniscule piece of tofu (1/2 inch wide?) and the rest is pure lettuce. I think there were a couple mint leaves in there. No carrots, cuke, cilantro, or any other kind of vegetable you can imagine, and barely any tofu. Peanut sauce was delicious and worth adding to the order, as the chili sauce it comes with is ok but syrupy sweet. Adding in the peanut sauce for $2, that came to $10 for lettuce. Inflation is hitting us all hard... restaurants included. But tofu and carrots are not that expensive, right? And if they ran out of ingredients, they should just say so. Yelping about petty things is not a nice thing to do. This review reflects my frustration about a broader pattern that goes beyond this one restaurant (which is why I don't include this in the star rating). Eugene restaurants often do not try to keep up basic standards because there's insufficient competition, and they get away with things that wouldn't fly in a big city. I wish more restaurants, including food trucks, took pride in what they put on the plate.

Consistently great food, quick service, nice people. Tried several things. Highly recommend.read more
