Amazing! Wonderful curry and delicious stir fries as well. Service was incredible, super friendly and answered a lot of my personal questions about the sourcing of the cutlery lol. The restaurant was a nice and quiet space, highly recommend!

pad thai - absolutely no flavor whatsoever

EEEEEk. Should've done better research before ordering Pad Thai from this place. My roommate and I were craving Pad Thai, but what we received was sorely disappointing. The Pad Thai basically tasted like nothing, but had a random kick of spice. It tasted like the noodles had been soaking in water for hours and then given a little bit of powdered spice. It had no traces of the classic peanutty, tangy sauce you associate with Pad Thai. The only way it was tolerable was after we dumped a bunch of our own pasta sauce onto the noodles. The tofu also wasn't tofu.....it was beancurd?? It was such a strange experience. We also ordered some chicken wings with sweet and sour sauce. The wings were good. Giving it an extra star for the chicken wings. I honestly don't know why how they're getting Pad Thai wrong, especially since it's a staple dish of Thai cuisine.

This place is awesome. The food are tasty. We ordered appetizer and it was delicious. They asked us how spicy we want our food. Most of the dishes are huge. Customer services are nice. I glad we found it and enjoy the brunch there. :) I really like the mango shrimp. Its delicious and look really good.

Lemongrass Chicken

I literally had the photos from my food at Sweet Basil since August so this review is more than overdue. I had a taste for something different that day and for some reason trying Thai just came to mind. My taste buds said sweet yet spicy is what we want so I Yelped best Thai restaurants in Brooklyn and Sweet Basil was definitely on the list. The name caught my attention along with the good reviews of course. So, after viewing the broad menu they had posted I decided to get the mango chicken with Thai sticky rice and a spring roll. Hubby got the Lemongrass Chicken with jasmine rice. The Mango chicken was very good prepared fresh with sweet bell peppers, mango slices and spicy glazed chicken with a hint of fresh basil. Hubby's food was more sweet than spicy and had a lot of fresh basil taste. My first time trying Thai was good and I see myself going here again when in the area. I will try the Mongolian Chicken next time. Definitely a good spot for celebrations and small gatherings too.

If you're a vegan looking to eat at a Thai place without having to substitute this for that, come here. Their vegan menu is top notch. I ordered the Mango Soy Protein plate with brown rice and an ice cold Singha beer 10/10

Our group of 4 started with a bottle of Pinot Grigio and a few appetizers to share, namely: Som tum papaya salad and dumplings curry. For the main entree, my eyes caught the attention of clay pot mix-fried rice with shrimp, chicken, sweet sausage, and my partner chose shrimp pad thai. Nothing really stood out with the dishes; I found it to be a bit Americanized, having eaten in so many Thai restaurants around New York City. Overall, we enjoyed our dinner here; our food came in timely fashion, and the customer service is good as well, but it's probably not your place if you are seeking a more authentic Thai-style cooking.

I eat Thai food every week and this is probably in my top 10 in NYC!…read more The staff here are super friendly and all the drinks/apps/entrees/dessert were good, which is so hard to find! PLEASE get the mango stick rice cocktail omg it was gone in like 5 sips because it was so good. The tuna ceviche was so refreshing and the sauce had a little kick to it which I absolutely loved! It was like a sprinkle of Thai on a classic tuna ceviche. Note the taro chips are a little thicker than a typical chip! The pork jowl wasn't as crispy as I expected but it was still flavorful and the portion size was huge, considering how it was an appetizer. We got pineapple lychee crispy duck, crab fried rice, and kana crispy pork over rice as our entree. ALL WERE SO GOOD! The curry for the pineapple lychee crispy duck was so creamy and flavorful, with the duck portion being huge and being the perfect texture. I loved that it was crispy and didn't get soggy fast in the curry. The crab fried rice was top tier as there were SO MANY HUGE CRAB PIECES!! You can definitely tell that it had flavors of seafood/crab.. they did not skimp out! And the kana crispy pork over rice was huge portion as well, but note that it was a big strong/saltier than the other dishes. For dessert, the pandan coconut pudding custard was SO yummy. It was warm and so flavorful and creamy!! I fell in love with Brooklyn even more after coming here. Highly recommend!!

Loved that every table had fresh flowers; you can tell they really care about the little details. We ordered quite a bit and honestly, everything was on point: · Lychee Thai Iced Tea & Yuzu Pop - both refreshing and not too sweet (huge plus for me since I don't have a big sweet tooth). · Moo Ping - solid start to the meal. · Salmon Mango (GF) - the salmon was cooked through (which I asked for), and the mango salad underneath was light and tangy. The sweet fruit with the savory fish worked way better than I expected. · Pineapple Fried Rice - came with shrimp, nice wok aroma, and that perfect sweet-tangy pineapple kick. · Pineapple Lychee Crispy Duck (GF) - duck skin was nice and crispy, and the coconut-based sauce with lychee and pineapple kept it from feeling heavy or greasy. · Branzino Chili Lime (GF) - came out piping hot, classic Thai-style sour broth that paired perfectly with the fish. No fishy taste at all, and the texture was tender. Even the drinks and dessert weren't overly sweet, which was a pleasant surprise. Overall, really enjoyed the meal here -- flavors are solid, service was friendly, and you can feel the effort they put into the experience. Definitely coming back!

Beware, the spice is no joke. I highly recommend keeping your group small, however, as the restaurant really is quite tight in space. We also waited about 20 minutes to get seated after arriving for our reservation, which seems to be a trend for this restaurant. What I personally liked is the 2 dishes took a bit, not slow or long but IMHO taking a little bit always seems it was cared for in prep. Who knows just my thing. The staff has a challenge to accommodate outdoor seating as the bldg doesn't have an inside/back door for them and they must carry food out the front door, down the sidewalk and into the garden area. That's tough but they do it with grace. The seating was okay since it's early enough but bugs showed up - no surprise - not a complaint just the reality of life and online typing in case anyone is considering it and is more sensitive to the same.

I got massaman curry with chicken and spring roll, and my friend got the eggplant basil with a spring roll. The portion is on the smaller side, though I didn't mind because I'm working to control my portions. For the price, it's also fair. While the spring rolls could use more flavor, we both enjoyed the flavors of our entrees. We got the mango sundae for dessert, and it was delectable. Service was phenomenal! The staff was so kind and went above and beyond from a customer service perspective. Our waters never went below half-empty, there were multiple check-backs, and they didn't rush us. Unfortunately, I have to admit I was pretty disappointed. Most of the dishes, especially the sauces, they were extremely salty! - Beef Tartare "Dine-In Exclusive" -- I'd skip this one. The beef was very dry, and it came with taro chips and greens but no sauce to tie everything together. Definitely not what I expected from a tartare. - Enoki Bloom -- Crispy, perfectly fried enoki mushrooms that I actually enjoyed. The only downside was that it was also very salty. The creamy green sauce on the side helped balance it out. - Crying Tiger -- Another skip for me. The steak was dry, tough and chewy, and the meat itself was pretty bland. The sauce had plenty of flavor, but again, it was way too salty. - Pork Jowl -- Probably my favorite dish of the meal. It was perfectly grilled, tender and flavorful. I'd skip the sauce though since the pork was already delicious on its own. - Crab Curry -- Unfortunately, another very salty dish. I honestly don't know how it got this salty. I was expecting more of the spicy or slightly sweet flavors you normally get from a Thai curry, but the salt completely took over. Very disappointing!!! - Thai Iced Tea -- This was actually really good. Creamy, rich and not overly sweet. The menu changes seasonally, so unfortunately, some of the dishes I had seen online were no longer available when I went.
