I didnt think I needed more than 1 person to hang a shelf nor that it would take too long. Enter William, a super nice college kid who was a little early and got the job done quickly. Understand that this service is only as good as the person who accepts your job. I paid $40/ hr for their late time and the cumulative half hour + they stood around chatting. They broke the leg off a chair and I had no idea until I took the chair out of storage. Never told me. So no responsibility. More expense. Their time wasn't worth $15/ hr much less $40/ hr each! I am not someone who spends his money frivolously, so when my girlfriend suggested we get movers for our apartment and the small amount of items we have for an upcoming move I was not a fan. I sent out a dozen or so requests to all the movers around town and I was getting quotes like $1500 for something I could do myself in a couple of hours. Enter Sweeps. I sent a request for a quote to get 2 movers for an hour worth a work and at $35 an hour for each person I thought now this is more like it. Two guys, Keith and Tyler, took the job and I received an email with their phone numbers. I sent a message a couple of days before and they both said they would be on time. Moving day comes and both guys show up on time and in one hour we knocked out 5 pieces of furniture and some boxes. I gave them a tip for the care they took with my stuff and they went on their way. This is the way a move should be. Quick, easy, painless, and affordable. In addition the owner responded very quickly through Yelp to help me understand how Sweeps works and to answer my questions. I used two sweepers over the weekend to help me load my U-Haul. They were really nice and very helpful. These guys were very hard working. They didn't take a break. My only complaint maybe the pay for these guys. Can they get $25/hr? College students don't have a lot. I use to be one. The pay module seems off to me that the company makes more then the poor guys who do all the lifting. After 2 hours, the movers walk away with only $60 out of the $140 I paid the company! I love sweeps! I use them all the time. I think it is a brilliant idea. The website is also extremely well thought out and really easy to use. You just post any odd job, and usually within the same day "sweepers" are awarded your job. They even have a "live chat" that you can use. The folks at sweeps also understand that things change and are flexible with cancellations/changes. It is important to remember that you are paying for college students to do odd jobs such as moving, assembling furniture, etc, so if you are looking for the highest level of professionalism perhaps look elsewhere (that is not to say that the sweepers are not professional!) It's also one of the few honest businesses that do odd jobs. One time, I was having a couch moved, and there was damage done to the walls by the sweepers. They were excellent about taking responsibility for it, and sent someone over to repaint the walls immediately. I was so pleasantly surprised because I have dealt with much older people who would try to wipe their hands clean of the blame. The only other issue I faced was one sweeper who blatantly asked for a tip, when I didn't have cash (I was going to tip online), and ended up taking more than I was trying to give him. As I look through the positive reviews I realize most of them are in regard to Sweepers who helped during a move. Perhaps I should have hired them to move my stuff, rather than clean my kitchen. I hired a Sweeper for a move-out clean for my kitchen and on the day of the appointment she canceled 30 mins. before she arrived. Morris was great in getting two people to reschedule for the next day. I moved out that night, headed out of town, and expected them to clean according the instructions I left in the comment section of the job posting. After I paid for the service a few days later my property manager sent me photos of the kitchen which had not been cleaned appropriately. I contacted Morris and he got two more people there the next day to clean. I assumed that after 4 Sweepers had been through the kitchen that it would be clean. My property manager sent more photos documenting the job had not been done after the second time and ended up contracting out to a professional company to handle the job. So I ended up having to pay for two companies to clean the kitchen. Morris was good about communicating and scrambling to fix things when I reached out, although I never heard back after I sent an email this week informing them the job just hadn't been completed after a second round. I clearly can't give them more than two stars when I had to pay for work that wasn't completed and it set my tenants back a day when we had to get another company in to clean. I do believe this company of college students is probably great at moving, tech help, yard work, etc., but professional cleaning, at least from my experience with them, is not one of their strong skills. read more

I had to move a small-ish amount of stuff out of one apartment into another in the same complex... I say small-ish because this move included a few small dressers, a few boxes, and also a queen mattress and box spring. I was worried about moving the bed. We had no truck and were hoping to strap it onto our car. Luckily, this wasn't a problem for the Sweepers assigned. One of them had an SUV and he was so gracious and offered to help us by using it for the bed! They loaded the mattress on top, held on with their arms, and hiked it over to my new place. I was amazed that it worked but it did! Both sweepers were very nice, young, strong guys. We were happy to tip them well for a job well done. I would happily hire Sweeps again for our next move. I hired sweeps to move me into my one bedroom apartment and the process was smooth and amazing! The online system makes hiring very easy. I like that I don't *have* to speak to someone on the phone, if I don't want to. The two guys that showed up were punctual and took great care with my things (including a very heavy marble table). Student quality work at unreasonable rates. Both yard and maid services failed to complete the simple and explicit instructions I provided. Rake the yard, and bring a rake. They finish and inform me they didn't have a rake to do driveway-wtf.... I'm sorry you cant possibly run a yard service without a rake. Also, don't bother coming if you can't complete the job. As for maid, this was worse. She used all purpose cleaner on my wood dinner table, forgot to vacuum, left dirty dishes in sink, and didn't clean shower. I'm legit angry and this place sucks. Hire a professional that needs to feed a family, because they'll work like they mean it and know what they are doing. read more

Wow. Started as the worst day ever. Couldn't find my driver license for a 530am flight. Had to take my passport to get on the plane which I just made. Had to beg the rental car agency to give me a car with a passport instead of the driver license. Get to my destination where I am supposed to meet 2 women to clean my apartment before giving it back to the landlord and do a walk through 4 hours later. As I get to the house she calls and said she fell down a flight of stairs and can't make it. Now I have to start scrambling to find a cleaning agency on short notice. Sweeps to the rescue. As the apartment was empty and I had no computer Emily was kind enough to take my info down and post the job online. She also texted her contacts to see if they could do it. Within 15 minutes Chris calls and said he would be there in 30 min. He knocked out the job that the other agency was gonna send 2 people to do in the same amount of time. He did a great job and the apartment passed inspection. And Sweeps was 50 dollars less than their competitor. Bravo job well done. Day finished on a positive note. read more

We've used SWEEPS many times over the years for yard work, cleaning and various odd jobs and we've been more than satisfied with the quality of work. For all jobs other than cleaning they rate 5 stars. As for cleaners, if you're a precision cleaner (neat freak) yourself, you're better off hiring a professional. In any case, write a checklist for them so they know what you expect them to do and mention the highlights. Management is on the ball making sure SWEEPers get here on time and fulfill your requirements. If they use your lawnmower/grass trimmer/leaf blower/cleaning supplies, you pay less than if they have to scrounge up the equipment themselves. I've found that SWEEPers are reliable, hard working people with a can-do attitude. Highly recommended! read more

I was pleasantly surprised with this company. I hired them to help me move and the entire process was very efficient. I did not have a lot of stuff to move so when I was looking around at major moving companies and getting quotes for $600-$800 it just seemed a little ridiculous. Then I was told about sweeps and the amount I was charged for them was so much cheaper and the guys that helped me move did a phenomenal job. I requested 3 guys to help me and they were all very polite and very hard working. I was moving out of an apt and my bedroom was a loft room up a spiral staircase. As I had completely exhausted my reserve of "help me move" friends, I wanted help moving my two-story townhouse to a second-story apartment a few miles away. The cheapest moving companies were a minimum of $299, and that was only if you stayed under 3 hours. Instead, I reserved two Sweepers, Ben and Ty, to help and rented a U-Haul. The move took a bit more than 3 hours, mostly because Ben and Ty busted their tails moving my stuff very quickly--it could have easily taken 5 hours. They were incredibly friendly and helpful, and I didn't lift a thing. At the end, it cost me half what the other companies would have charged. SWEEPS left me in the lurch - big time! I signed up for Sweeps moving services about 4 days before the move & they confirmed it immediately. (the person on the other end sounded very young... almonst childish). They sent out 3 promotional emails based on the confirmation. So far, so good, right? Then, the day before the big move, they called & Said "We're not going to be available for your move" I asked why. NO ANSWER. NOTHING. I said, you are putting us in a very tough spot - Why are you doing this? Why are you cancelling? What's going on? NO ANSWER. I had seen a dining set on NextDoor that was exactly what I wanted. The sellers were moving and wanted it out of the house FAST. I am short, 60, drive a Corolla, and I'm relatively new in town so I had no one around who could help. I called Sweeps, and got a call back within MINUTES on a Sunday. Connor and Brandon showed up for the pickup on time with a pickup truck, brought blankets to keep from damaging the set, brought it to my house and even arranged the chairs. I've seen some iffy reviews here for cleaning and big moving, but for small jobs like this Sweeps is a Godsend. Really nice people, great service. I use sweeps every so often for cleaning, moving, or gardening. It is a luck of the draw situation, but in general I would say that you do need to specify very clearly what you want done and how. And if you put it in the ad, so much the better. For example, I got Sweeps to move a bed. I provided bags for the mattresses. They put them on but didn't tape them, and in transit it started to rain. Naturally, the mattresses got wet as the bag opening blew around. Any regular mover would have known to seal the bag but you can't count on that with Sweeps. So I've learned to give careful instructions, but on the other hand, have always had courteous service, and some excellent cleaning and moving. It's a great odd-job source. read more
