So imagine my disappointment when my husband and I came in and found out it was no longer on the menu. :( I feel like once restaurants expand to multiple locations, they often try to make the menu too generic to please everyone -- and it's those signature specialty items that make a place unique instead of just another run-of-the-mill spot serving the same dishes as everyone else. I miss restaurants that hold on to their uniqueness and don't need to cater to the mainstream palettes. Service was just okay. We waited a while before our waitress even came over to bring water. We came in late for a bite around 9:30pm, and there weren't many diners, so the delay was surprising. That said, one thing I've always liked about Phat Boy is their extended late-night hours. My husband ordered the miso ramen, and the broth was rich and delicious. I had the steak noodles, which I enjoyed, but it was way too salty.

They offered a dog bowl of water as we ordered our drinks. My husband and I did the bottomless Bloody Mary's which were well made with a little lemon and olive garnish. We had a variety of menu choices since they have all day happy hour if you sit outside or at the bar. They also have a weekend morning brunch menu, and a regular dinner menu. We took some time as there were so many choices. Our server was just alright as he didn't seem to be very enthusiastic as a server. Our appetizer order went in pretty quickly but the food came out in a very random order. The raw tuna sashimi was very quick and very fresh. The pot stickers and shumai were small portions and shareable if everyone shates with the table. The birria eggroll was good because the dipping sauce was good. No star items but all good and fresh. It seems like the kitchen hadn't woken up yet and we're running very slowly. We then put in our brunch order in case that food was really slow too. The restaurant started to fill up and surprisingly the service got better. I ordered from the brunch menu and was so happy I did. The Soft Shell Crab Benedict served on a bed of crab meat and wilted kale on top of a cheesy grit cake was outstanding in portion and flavors. A definite reorder for next visit. My husband and friends all ordered a fried rice bowl with different proteins. The chicken was basic, the short rib was average but the crab was really good and full of crab and Asian flavors. I think there are alot of Asian influenced restaurants on Atlantic Ave but this place really felt authentic in flavors. The decor inside was beautiful and if you check out the bar area, they have some very cool drinks and glassware to enjoy them in. The bathrooms are also pretty cool. This was a fun time and I will definitely return for happy hour next time.

I ordered the teriyaki bowl with chicken and it had no teriyaki flavor or sauce anywhere. The chicken was probably slightly marinated but I wish it tasted more like teriyaki. The grilled salmon was tasty but the poached egg that came with the Brussels sprout Cesar was full of water and undercooked so I literally didn't even eat it. The strawberry lemonade was 80% water, stick with the hangover cure. The hangover cure was very refreshing. The servers split the tips so they were all pretty helpful and attentive. Probably a good spot for cocktails but I went with my grandma so virgin drinks were the way to go. All in all I'd be back for a cocktail and the fries. The food is also pretty pricey. $11 French fries, $9 for a non-alcoholic beverage. Also when I went, the menu was limited. They weren't serving any of the 'Shareables'. I went at 3pm on a Sunday so you'd think this is prime time to have a full menu available. Service 9/10 Food 6/10 Location & ambiance 8/10 Would I go back? Yes. Vibes would bring me back and I wanna try the cocktails next time (:

The steak is also comically small. I choked 2x. It's oily. 0/10 The location is beautiful. The customer service was excellent. Our waiter was attentive and knowledgeable. We were not disappointed, and are wondering why the reviews aren't higher! We ordered the Tostones Morelia with grilled shrimp as an appetizer. Absolutely loved the combination of ingredients! Sorry no picture, as we weren't expecting to give a review. Next came the Steak Tampiqueño. It's sill one of the gems. We started with the wedge salad and cheesy bread. We wanted to get the Filet Mignon and the Prime Cut Ribeye to share them, but they were out of the Filet which was a bit surprising. Instead, we got the Crispy Chicken Piccata. They were both excellent. The fingerlings and asparagus were good and loved the red wine sauce. The crispy chicken was not too heavy, with lemon and an ample arugula salad. I don't remember the name of desert, but it was a combo of a browny with an Oreo cookie layer (which the kid in me couldn't refuse) with a scoop vanilla ice cream. It was great.
