I had a regular lemonade which was really good. They played 90s ebb at just the right volume. They had a lot of mixed drink options: alcohol-infused gummy bears and colorful slushy drinks. The food menu was pretty decent. I had collard greens with smoked turkey and rice. It was steak night. most of their menu leans heavily toward gumbo, rice, and other Southern dishes. What's funny is , I've seen this place on DoorDash before but never thought to order. Turns out you can actually get food and cocktails delivered. That's a huge plus in my book. All in all, I like this place. It's very casual, good vibes, and a rnb playlist that is decent!

I want to start this review off by saying that the dedication and pride that both Ms. Arga and…read moreJames displayed in response to my previous experience has given me a different perspective on Sunshine's. After a conversation with Mr. James about the history of this location and the importance of their reputation and providing positive customer service, I came to the conclusion that this food is best enjoyed hot, fresh, and in house. There are a plethora of spaces for all kinds of people, whether quiet and reserved or lively and communicative. Sunshine's has a partially shaded patio that has a great ambience and honestly a pretty good place for small gatherings. To speak on the quality of the food, my experience this time around was excellent. I ordered the Black Bean Burger with a side of sweet potato fries. The patty was perfectly cooked and the addition of the veggies made it such a nutritious and light lunch. The only addition I would make is having a sauce ON the sandwich. However I did get some vegan mayo and a smoked sauce on the side to help with adding some moisture to the sandwich. Overall I am very grateful that I got to have a second experience here as I was hoping to become a loyal customer. I recommend this place to anyone who is looking to find a cultured food joint that emphasizes health consciousness!

The fries were fresh, homemade, and tasted great when served hot. The Sunshine Burger was good overall, with fresh toppings and plenty of flavor. My only personal preference is that I'm not a fan of beyond meat substitutes, so that kept it from being a favorite for me. Next time, I plan to try the black bean burger instead. I also tried the Golden Milk juice, not a favorite of mine. The food was fresh, the portions were satisfying, and it's a great option for anyone looking for vegetarian or plant-based choices. I'll definitely be back to try more items on the menu.

The staff are all very nice, especially the cook, and make an effort to ensure your selection is prepared exactly to your liking. They do have a large seating area making it a great spot to enjoy your lunch with a coworker or stop by after a doctor's appointment. Overall, French Corner has an impressive assortment of options to meet everyone's preferences. It can, however, be slightly more on the pricey end.

I ordered the small shrimp po-boy with a side of fries. After placing my order I received a buzzer for when my food was ready. My order took about 15 mins to come out. The po-boy was pretty big for it being a small. The bread was fresh but missing that crunchy exterior. The veggies were fresh but the tomato was cut a little too thick for my liking. Obviously the star of the po-boy was the shrimp. Freshly made as they were hot. They were big and seasoned well. There was also a good amount of them. The fries were a little under cooked for me. They came with a generous amount of herbal seasoning but no salt.

Parking was easy--we found a spot off the street, though I did notice signs for a garage nearby. From the moment I walked in, I was greeted promptly and felt welcomed. We ordered the beef tip yakamein and the seafood version, and both bowls were nothing short of amazing. They were hearty, flavorful, and full of surprises--greens, onions, and other touches that elevated the dish beyond expectations. The beef tip yakamein was the standout for me: the meat was incredibly tender and juicy, practically melting in each bite. The seafood bowl was equally satisfying, rich and comforting. I love how each bowl had its own twist while staying true to the soul of yakamein. It's bittersweet to know they're closing at the end of the month, because I can't wait to come back. Next time, the oxtail yakamein is at the top of my list. Honestly, I wish I had more time to try every single menu option--they all look worth it. This place is a gem, and I'm grateful I got to experience it before it's gone.

Discovering those hidden gems that make you so happy you can't wait to share them with everyone you…read moreknow... Kin Café in the Asia Society building 1370 Southmore is one of those places. A delightful new addition to the Houston scene. Upon arrival, you'll likely be greeted by the charming proprietor Vivi, who is a fount of knowledge on vegan and vegetarian life and foods as well as teas. If you have any doubt as to what you should order, just trust Vivi, and you won't be sorry. We did just that on a gorgeous Sunday morning. Vivi started us out with samples of a spectacular potent green tea she was brewing special for the day. She then brought us three pastries that I would put up with any in the city, vegan or otherwise. These aren't designed to wow you with their Instagrammable beauty or their exotic compositions. In their simplicity, they play with your palate in a way that leaves you pondering how she can achieve so much flavor with pastries that appear to be so simple. She undertakes a complicated process to create her chocolate chip walnut cookies. But I can't recall the last time I had one so moist and bursting with chocolatey flavor. It's insane to think that they are vegan! The same for the banana bread. If you are diehard into sugar, you won't love this. This is all about texture and flavor. Absolutely exquisite, and again, 100% vegan. One that is not vegan is the matcha cake, but I couldn't pass up giving it a try--I just ate the cake and left off the cream. The potent flavor of the matcha is unforgettable. Another must-try are the deceptively mundane-sounding "Hot Dog Bites." Don't sleep on these-Vivi brings in a special vegan link created at Loma Linda University on the West Coast. This is by far the best plant-based sausage I've ever tried--the Nathan's of vegan sausages. She wraps them in a delicate pastry and bakes them to perfection. Another example of the recurring theme of Kin Café - so simple, so addictive. And here is some of the best advice I could give you - make sure to ask for a little side of her homemade kimchi to eat with these bites. You will thank me afterwards-- several other guests did just that during the short time we were there! Vivi also shared with us a dish that she said her pescatarian husband is begging her to put on the menu - slices of toasted bread topped with cucumbers and a gently-spiced chickpea salad. They're exquisite, and I could happily make a meal of a dozen of these! We join her husband in begging that these become a regular menu item. We also enjoyed a pot of Golden Buds Milk Oolong tea, which is not made with any milk at all, but the tea itself gives off an impossibly creamy flavor. I've never had a tea with this taste profile. We could easily have drank a gallon of it. Vivi's menu right now is concise, but we can't wait to try everything else she does. She hinted at the possibility of a tofu scramble in the future as well as collaborations with local chefs and an afternoon tea service featuring her mother's vegan pastries. She also offers lunch options, including a veg japchae (my favorite of all, Korean noodle dishes) and plant-based bulgogi as well as a banh mi. We will be returning to try everything!

Bring your fur baby, they also have treats for them & the doggy park is steps away. Lively music being played. Parking is available in the Kirby Grove garage at varying prices depending your length of stay. Or on the side street in front of the park. The place does do its best to keep flies away, but sitting outside and flies smelling food it was a bit unnerving to constantly swap them away as you ate or drank. Food: 4/5 Currently (July 11-25) they have a "Latin Restaurants week" special going on, so take advantage of it! You have to order at the counter because the self order kiosks don't auto discount and it comes out to about $45. I paid half of that for all I had minus the snow cone. Michelada - 4/5 I got to choose my own favorite beer (Pacifico) the flavor was a bit simple & bland for my taste. They do have other flavors (mango tamarind) but I forgot and ordered the classic. They also have margaritas which I didn't try but I'll try because the Michelada was palpable to me. Birria Elote 3/5 - it was basically meat on top of the corn. Nothing really stood out about this. Quesa gringa 5/5 - basically quesadillas on flour tortilla. you choose your meat style, I got asada. And it comes with a side of birria consume (broth/sauce) that was very flavorful. Churros 5/5- were warm and sweet, very delicious. Everything came out at once so that was a bit overwhelming and also didn't allow to enjoy the items individually. Would've liked items to arrive with some time in between, but I get it because they want to have everything done. Snow cone 2/5 - while the syrup is good, it's crushed ice, with syrup, served in a cute container. Basically a drink. I didn't finish it. I took a couple of sips and tossed the rest. It would be 100 times better if it were finely shaved ice and not crushed. Finely shaved is fluffy, like snow and easier to eat and enjoy. I met the owner, Jennifer, very friendly and accommodating. She initially had the food truck (still has other trucks in other areas only serving food) but for Levy Park 2 years ago opened up shop. This is a good hangout and laid back spot that is opened until to 11PM on weekends. Drop in have a bite.
