I literally just stumbled upon this place, there's so much food to choose from and their smoothies are delicious and nutritious!!! There's a bunch of vitamins, shea butters, soap and yummy desserts! This place has it all.
Parking was a little tricky. Very clean on the inside with plenty of seating. Staff was very nice and pleasant. They offered us some really good samples. My drink was very refreshing and the tacos were delicious. They were seasoned and very tasty.
Came for a smoothie then purchased the bagged popcorn near checkout. The smoothie is blended to perfection and tastes great. I will certainly return when I'm craving one again. The popcorn caught my eye. It's made by Kimy treats it's vegan ghost pepper popcorn. I had to try it. It was a great light snack as well. I certainly recommend Sunshine's, I'll be back.
My favorite is bean thread but the last two times the taste is very different. Today it was very bland. I also liked the garlic kale salad. The last time it was way too much garlic so I didn't get it today. I got the broccoli salad and that was very good. I mixed it with the bean thread to add taste to the bean thread.
My friend said, "Let's meet for lunch. " She said, "I know a great spot." Parking is a breeze if you know how to drive, parallel park, or make do (there is additional parking at the rear). I walked in, and you could smell the food cooking. Yummy!! While waiting for my friend's arrival, I watched a customer sample salad and talk with the waitress/host. I interacted friendly with everyone who came and went. My friend ordered vegan nachos, and I ordered a portobello mushroom burger with additional grilled onions. When I say the burger was giving what it needed to give!! Life and flavorful!! The vibe was awesome with good music (Magic 102.1FM). The health food store is connected and easily accessible, so you can browse while you wait for your food. Sea moss and many other goodies for the body are on deck. The dining area is spacious, and the table surface is laptop-approved. Good food and vibes, Sunshine!!
10/17/2025 - Very disappointed! I've been craving their cooked kale, so I stopped on my way home from work. I ordered cooked kale, been threads, and potato salad. The bean threads were bland, the cooked kale was spice hot, but no flavor, and the potato salad was also bland, except when I bit a chuck of jalapeno! So disappointing...the food use to be so good!
The Sunshine's today is not the Sunshine's from three years ago. Burger was always consistently great. Ordered a cheezyburger, but it came with no cheese. Salad is still good. Check the bag before you pull out their tiny parking lot.
I've ordered to go from the OST location for 5 years after moving to the medical center area. The parking lot on the side is spacious but has a lot of gravel and uneven spots so drive slowly. I've never dined in but they have a good sized sitting area. I recommend to order online and plan for at least 30 min to pick up the food. If you order when you arrive, it has always been a long wait for me but the staff and food quality are great so I don't mind to wait as long as I plan ahead of time. The restaurant is also a store for various healthy food items, drinks and even care products. It has a casual atmosphere like a convenience store. I usually get the Tex mex burger or the black bean nachos with jalapeños. They have amazing flavors! I'm not a vegan but my in-laws do vegan fasting occasionally and this is my go to for them and they love it too.
I had their vegan chocolate cupcake which ended up being one of the most rich, most flavorful chocolate cupcakes I've ever eaten! I don't know what they use in their ingredients but I wasn't able to capture the cupcake before it was eaten, only after there was nothing but the cupcake wrapper left. It was a large cupcake with plenty of icing. The icing, melts in your mouth along with the cupcake! I mean it was incredible. I also order their veggie quesadillas which were full of flavor and a side of two dipping sauces! Yum!!! I mean freaking delicious! You have to come check this place out at least once! You'll be hooked!
When I wanna do a good burger and the best sweet potato fries ever, I go to Sunshine. I haven't tried many of the short order selections because I can't get past the sunshine burger and the sweet potato fries. I believe the sunshine burger used to be called the best burger, but it is one of the best burgers. And the sweet potato fries are 2nd to None. Vegan and vegetarians you need to try this place give the chicken enchiladas a try if you're looking for a meal, They have several selections of cold salads that are good. And several old remedy, healthcare, vitamins, ointment, supplements, alkaline water, this is a one stop health location. Great service and small dining area.

They have lots of natural herbs and vitamins, dried seamoss and already made seamoss. They also sell natural deodorants, soaps and shea butters. You can dine in or get your food to go.
Been wanting to visit Sunshine Health Food Store for a while now . So glad I finally decided to check them out. First, This place is black owned. Second,This placed focus on a healthy lifestyle. This place is equipped with all sorts of healthy products such as products, vitamins, body products, teas, herbs sea-moss and vegan food (snacks,salads,beverages,desserts and etc.) I purchased the sunshine Sea-moss this sea-moss is flavored with cinnamon, bladderwrack and agave. My kids ingested this flavor, way much easier than the regular sea-moss. I also indulge in a beyond burger with sweet potato fries. My meal was delicious and fresh. I will definitely recommend Sunshine to anyone who is looking to improve their overall health. They also have sages, incenses for you mentally health as well!!!
I want to start this review off by saying that the dedication and pride that both Ms. Arga and James displayed in response to my previous experience has given me a different perspective on Sunshine's. After a conversation with Mr. James about the history of this location and the importance of their reputation and providing positive customer service, I came to the conclusion that this food is best enjoyed hot, fresh, and in house. There are a plethora of spaces for all kinds of people, whether quiet and reserved or lively and communicative. Sunshine's has a partially shaded patio that has a great ambience and honestly a pretty good place for small gatherings. To speak on the quality of the food, my experience this time around was excellent. I ordered the Black Bean Burger with a side of sweet potato fries. The patty was perfectly cooked and the addition of the veggies made it such a nutritious and light lunch. The only addition I would make is having a sauce ON the sandwich. However I did get some vegan mayo and a smoked sauce on the side to help with adding some moisture to the sandwich. Overall I am very grateful that I got to have a second experience here as I was hoping to become a loyal customer. I recommend this place to anyone who is looking to find a cultured food joint that emphasizes health consciousness! read more

Sunshine Vegetarian Deli & Health Food Store, I tried the Sunshine Burger with homemade fries. Most of the fries were gone before they could make it to the picture! The fries were fresh, homemade, and tasted great when served hot. The Sunshine Burger was good overall, with fresh toppings and plenty of flavor. My only personal preference is that I'm not a fan of beyond meat substitutes, so that kept it from being a favorite for me. Next time, I plan to try the black bean burger instead. I also tried the Golden Milk juice, not a favorite of mine. The food was fresh, the portions were satisfying, and it's a great option for anyone looking for vegetarian or plant-based choices. I'll definitely be back to try more items on the menu. read more

I've tried this Houston staple many times in college, and the food is still great. It's always great to have healthy options in such a big city, and sunshine glows in this regard. With many options, I decided to have vegan nachos with alkaline water. The food was fresh and tasty, and I also had lentil soup as my side. The service was good as always, but my only consideration about the establishment is it needs to improve on its decor as well as seating capacity. read more
Almost every time I go down to the med center I stop here and it is stellar every time. The food is incredibly fresh and it's refreshing to have a place with healthy, interesting options. My favorite is their spicy black bean tex mex burger and garlic kale salad. The kale salad is so garlicky it has almost a horseradish-like spiciness to it. Everything from the fresh bread down to the veggies on the black bean burger is so good, and I always add some of their hot sauce to it. Be prepared to wait 20 minutes out so unless you call ahead or order online. It's so worth the wait, though! read more

Customer service could be a little better, I understand it's COVID Season and what not, but to have me waiting for a to-go order that was sitting on the counter for 25 mins is annoying. Someone could have walked it over to me or made sure the food had an owner. For that they lost a star. Otherwise my black bean wrap was so scrumptious, the flavors were hitting the spot. My sweet potatoe fries, though cold, were pretty yummy. So while I don't think this restaurant is shining during these times, which restaurant really is? Everyone is so concerned about getting sick, distancing and speaking through masks. It's such a fragile time. But I don't appreciate cold food so - 4 stars today. read more

Great spot for fresh juices/smoothies, sea moss gel, natural products and tasty vegan food. Lately I have dined out with to-go orders. You order at the counter and seat yourself. They will call your name when your order is ready. Most items range from $8-$15 on the menu. The staff in there are very nice. read more
This place has been on my list forever, but because they close so early, I was just able to try it. No one goes here for the experience, you go here for the food. Customer service isn't great but as a vegetarian, I was so excited to have so many options and with a location so close to my house, we parked and entered the place. I decided to order the vegan enchiladas and they were surprisingly good! I was surprised because of the location of this place. But I would tell everyone to try this place at least once. They have many many options that are vegan and vegetarian and they are good! I will definitely be back here. read more

I recommend this place to everyone. I wish they were in Dallas. I wish they had a cook book. Their kale salads are amazing, that garlic sauce is my favorite. I can't wait to go back. Wraps, burgers, sandwiches, juices. I hope this place continues to flourish. I forgot to add that I'm not even vegan! It's just great food and you feel great afterwards too. Ps. Please give me the garlic sauce recipe, I cannot stop thinking about it! read more

I love sunshine health food store so much , not just the food but the actual health store . With drinks, vitamins, sea moss, dietary needs,etc. Black bean Nachos served with black beans, green onions, cashew cheese, chilli beans, and black beans for the meat. : Vegan enchiladas with soy crumbles rolled into corn tortillas, with cashew cheese ,enchilada sauce, chilli beans, rice and pico de gallo. Great food and great service. Everyone is so polite. Last week I had the Spicy Black Bean Burger and this week I got the Beyond Burger.... Ohhhhh myyyy ooooo wee... The Spicy Black Bean Burger was good, but the Beyond Burger was awesome. It taste just like meat... Dont tell me whats in it... lol They offer organic mustard, ketchup, and even veganise (mayonaise). I also ordered a side of sweet potato fries and they were delisssssh. OMG. They are so meaty and juice, I love the steak size sweet potato fries. They are much better than the shoestring ones that everyone seems to sell. The fries are sweet and are made just right. My meals are always filling in that it is a regular sized burger with all the trimmings... lettuce, tomato, onion, etc. This location is clean; however, the restroom needs a little work. The restaurant is a nice size, may be too big for the parking lot in that it is small and fills up fast, so if you dont get there early, I suggest Uber/Lyft or catch a ride!!! Altogether, I recommend this spot, its good and the service is two thumbs up! read more

One of those days when you just don't feel eating in the office cafe, looked up on google to find a local vegetarian place and Sunshines popped up at a distance of 6 min drive from the medical center area. Am so glad I found this place, ordered a to go of a veggie sandwich with a side of crispy sweet potato fries, and additional two sides of hummus and bead thread. The service was prompt, the servers helpful in explaining what each food had in them and a pretty neat place. It is a total vegetarian place with a lot of vegan options too. The guy I spoke to told me that their wheat bread was vegan too- that was a little hard to believe considered how soft the bread was .... So close to home, would definitely be back to try the other stuff on the menu. Tips: They have plenty healthy smoothie drinks, besides pasta, lasagna, enchiladas, wraps, kids meal, Soy chicken and meat options too. read more
