Ordered ahead for lunch online. I probably should've just ordered when I got here since everyone in line was done checking out and my order still wasn't ready. I was able to enjoy the delicious ripple fries while I waited. They come with an option of garlic aioli or pickle ketchup. THE KETCHUP is GOOD! Today I had the hot honey chicken bowl. The steak chimichurri bowl is also a top pick. The bowls leave you full and satisfied. Parking for this location is paid unless you use garage.

Try the new Caramelized Garlic Steam when you get a chance. While the portions are arguably less than a typical bowl, and price is slightly higher due to this owl containing steak and sweet potatoes, this bowl is a veritable masterpiece. All of the components work incredibly well together, and you should have peace of mind knowing you are consuming a very healthy meal. This spot is one of my go-it's because I'm frequently in the Village, and I love me some sweetgreen. The interior is often immaculate, and the staff friendly. Some tips: Since parking is limited or requires payment I would suggest ordering ahead and parking behind the planters in front with your hazards on. You can always modify your order, but one thing I like to do is add extra sauce or dressing (limit is two, and default is one). If you choose the "mix in" dressing option you will get better coverage over the bowl. Also, most bowls have the option to have bread on the side, but you have to ask for it. Try their sweet pass+ membership to get daily discounts to frequent in app challenges. Cheers!!

Made my own salad, very fresh. This is a place to go on a hot day for something refreshing. This is my favorite salad spot! These salads are so filling because of the portion size which is nice because sometimes you think you won't get full off of a salad. The staff here are so friendly and quickly serve you. There is limited seating inside but because of the location being in rice village, there is plenty outdoor.

Healthy food many options to choose from I love going there it's a cute lunch & dinner spot! You order at the front and they bring you your food service is very attentive for not having servers walking around(: definitely recommend to friends when looking for a quick filling healthy meal

Sweetgreen, yes indeed! The Hubs and I came here Sunday for dinner and it didn't disappoint. Well it was disappointing that they sold out of Ollipop soda. Nevertheless we both enjoyed making our bowls, which were very colorful. I had steak and he got chicken. Next time I will ask not to mix it together.

Omgggg sweet greeen!!!!! I think we have a new contender in the health salads arena and it's blowing cava and salata out the water! First I love that you can make your own salad or pick from the already curated menu. Plus the menu tells You what's popular. I picked the crispy rice bowl and as you see from the picture it was too delicious to stop and take a picture. You salad comes with free sourdough bread. What I really love is they ask you how much dressing you want on the salad. Light, medium, or heavy! I was in and out . There's plenty of seating inside but also outside

I just LOVE sweetgreen. I honestly think I could eat it most days of the week and not tire of it. I like to mix it up and often don't order the same thing on back to back visits and I am never disappointed with the bowl or salad I choose. Their ingredients are always super fresh and the portion size is adequately filling, especially if you add on their STINKING DELICIOUS rosemary focaccia. For such a quick meal, I am routinely pleasantly surprised at how wonderful this little place is! And you really can't beat sitting outside their shop on a nice day eating your salad - mmm!

    Much more sugary than Sourgreen

Bought some Windex, and I said, damn, what a SWEETCLEAN Went to 6th Street Austin, I said, what a SWEETSCENE Barbi is my goddess, never sour, she'a s a SWEETQUEEN 19 YO just hit on her, she said what a SWEET-TEEN I had a Jelly Belly, I said damn what a SWEETBEAN Barbi got into Dartmouth, she said what a SWEETDEAN Then I took my pants off and she said what a SWEETPEEN Then we came to get a salad right here at SWEETGREEN WHAT There's nothing Sweet about Sweetgreen, and all of the salad afficionados that I know, are in a-Green-ment. Much better service than the one on Westheimer, almost every time I've been here. They have some great staff members and are more in line with what I'm sure corporate would want from their servers and their treatment of salad-procuring guests. I had Sweetgreen on many occasions when I was on the east coast (Boston, NY, DC and so on), and was never really impressed, although the one in Cambridge by Harvard is my preferred location, by far, and always packed. Sometimes the salad was awful. Sometimes it was pretty good but it might have just been because I was starving. Overall I've never been the biggest fan but I gave it a good solid chance, and now that it's finally come to Houston, I've tried both locations (Montrose and Rice Village) on a number of occasions, and this one pees on the other one, from a great height, and it splashes a lot too. The salad itself tastes pretty good. They seem to have decent ingredients and although it definitely has a hipster flavour, I kind of like it. I don't love it but I kind of like it and it mixes things up from my usual Salata, which gives portions twice the size or greater, with unlimited options, for the same price. The problem is that it's basically the same price as Salata and yet can be literally one quarter of the size, one third at best, if Salata is stingy. But anything's better than the nasty attitudes of the employees over at Westheimer, causing this one to get 2 full stars higher in the rating department, due to actually being friendly, and Houston not having that many non-Salata options for salad that are actually good. But, if it's within say 45 min of closing, expect them to be out of some things sometimes. 4 stars for the salads, should lose a star for portion sizes, but such a refreshing change to the nasty treatment at the other location, that I'll stick with 4. So it's not the best salad I've seen And some of the servers are quite mean But if you want some kale Then come here, without fail And you'll get healthy sh** at Sweetgreen More like Sourgreen.

    Fresh produce!
    Mahwish S.

I am coming to love grain bowls! I tried this spot for the first time and I love that they use fresh produce for their ingredients. You can see they cut them fresh everyday. I tried their crispy blackened chicken bowl with quinoa instead of wild rice. What I don't like is that every topping outside of what it comes with the bowl is an extra charge. Other places let you put whatever toppings you want for the most part without paying extra. The portion of protein is small. I had so many tiny shreds of chicken in the scoop she put in my bowl. I asked for two more little pieces (not even a full scoop extra) and she said extra charge . The bowl comes with a piece of bread but it's Extra for a different type of bread that was right next to it. It really limits you on your choices or you'll wind up paying $20 for a bowl. Flavors are good but I'll go back to my usual spot that's not frugal.

However, I haven't found myself wanting to come back even though I drive past this area pretty frequently. If I did come back, I'd probably just order the same flavor again because it was that good. The Zeppelin is very filling though and kept me good for 2 meals, I just think nothing else on the menu appealed to me (other than the Spicy Tejano) enough to steer away from my go-to sandwich/bowl places if the craving for that type of food ever came. The staff were super friendly though and parking wasn't terrible. I can see why they chose the location since it is a great lunch spot for people in the area tbat want something quick but don't wanna run into the mall/opt for fast food drive thru.

Parking can be tight depending on the time/day. This location feels like it has more indoor seating and a better patio than The Heights which is more exposed to the outdoor elements off the trails. I couldn't remember if I'd been here before until old photos I posted showed. I'm used to The Heights location which is closer to me. It's been about 5 years when I first moved to the loop that I went here with a friend. I had the OG Brussels sprouts which were my favorite when they still had Benjy's in Rice Village. It was a staple for 25 years. They closed in 2020 to expand Local Foods. Pretty bummed because Benjy's was great and had an amazing pecan-crusted goat cheese appetizer with pita. It had more of a cocktail lounge vibe that my friends and I would frequent back in grad school for HH. They had another location off Washington, but that is also closed and is now Forget Me Not. Anyways, the Brussels sprouts were amazing, and I always loved them. I'm glad that Local Foods occasionally features it as a special. I usually gravitate towards the crunchy chicken sandwich. The pretzel bun is everything, and the filling is loaded. If you have a bit allergy, this is not for you. It has pecans in them. I like the added potato chips, too. This time I tried the tacos de camote which was a sweet potato taco. I couldn't find any photos of it on this Yelp page, but I've had sweet potato tacos before in Scottsdale and was hooked. I didn't expect two large wedges on sweet potato lodged in a taco shell. It was delicious and carmelized. You could hear the crunchy outside texture. Loved that. What I didn't love was the difficulty of eating it. The wedges were huge, and the sweet potato was too hot and steamy. It would've been better had they been diced. The pumpkin seed mixture was good but too spicy with the jalapeños. I like spicy food but didn't expect that. The tacos needed salsa or crema to cut through the heat. I picked off the jalapeños and fork and knifed the sweet potato after a few bites with the taco shell. The taco itself is a blue nixtamilized corn tortilla. It held up the taco filling fairly well considering the huge wedge of sweet potato. It also dripped the oil off the sweet potato. I couldn't taste much of the refried beans. I liked these tacos, but it was a little too spicy and didn't have the acid it needed to make it better. I ate the sweet potatoes and nixed the tortillas. As for the sides, I usually get the kale salad because theirs doesn't taste like dirt. Lol. They add enough lemon, pine nuts, golden raisins and Parmesan cheese to make it taste better. I could eat a bowl of that. It's always served in a tiny container. I also get their homemade potato chips. It's dusted with Old Bay seasoning. It can be oily at times, though. This time, I tried a seasonal side of strawberries that was recommended by the guy at the register. It was delicious. The strawberries were soaked in a slightly sweet simple syrup with chopped basil. They have a variety of lemonades, tea, fountain drinks, cocktails and refrigerated beverages to choose from. Lemonade can be too sweet, so I dilute it with ice and water. I like that it's open with the cups and plastic to-go cups if that's your preference. I've always enjoyed what Local Foods offers and like that they offer vegetarian, vegan and gluten free options. Service is friendly, and it's a nice, casual place to dine in or on the patio.

Leaf & Grain is the spot to satisfy those cravings. This West University location is easy to find and it located on a corner of a large shopping strip. Parking is plentiful. Inside is spacious and is warm and inviting with lots of seating. Counter service is how they run business and they do it well with a great customer service. As I'm sure you've guessed from their name, they specialize in salads and grain bowls. The menu is not big by any means. A little more variety would be great. Both the salad and grain bowl categories have about 3 or 4 options each. They also have 3 plate options as well with chicken or seafood. If you're in the mood for a sandwich they have a few of those options as well. My eyes locked in on one of their seasonal warm bowls. In the summer months, they have cooler, cold options. My eyes locked in on the Massaman Curry. I'm a sucker for Thai flavors and this bowl was calling out to me. It came with a bed of brown rice, topped with chicken, peppers, onions, cilantro, spinach and topped with a curry sauce. They also gave a chili powder on the side if I wanted to make it spicy along with some peanuts. Yes please! The bowl was presented nicely. I mixed it all together and added a dash of the Thai chili powder. This dish was delicious. Not trying to be funny, but I wasn't expecting that much flavor coming out of a dish from a grain and salad spot. The ingredients were fresh and the curry was so flavorful. I tasted hints of coconut that made it slightly sweet, but it packed some heat to it as well. I loved the contrast in textures as well. I washed it down with a Mango Deck (mango, strawberries, banana, agave and coconut milk) smoothie which was a perfect, refreshing sip to go along with the spicy meal. Overall, I liked this place alot. Sometimes it's nice to have a meal without having a guilty conscience afterwards. I will definitely come back if in the area.

A big part of the decades long success at Local Foods has been their commitment to consistency…read more Their casual setting with excellent service is one thing, but quality executed food that is simple and seasonal will always go a long way. Before their recent expansions to Austin, it all began here in Rice Village exactly 15 years ago. The vibes are contemporary and casual, with the kind of space that fits for just about any scenario. Whether it's a solo meal, a lunch date, or a group led affair, the experience is almost always an excellent one. Start by ordering at the counter and find a seat where the food will brought directly to the table. So much of their variety caters to all sorts of dietary restrictions from vegan to gluten free to nut free. Their spicy crispy brussels sprouts ($10) are a nice starter, as is the squash "onion" rings ($12). The local power bowl ($16) is a classic and I've always enjoyed the brown rice and quinoa combo. Their chicken "posolé" is solid, and I love the large hominy bits along with the clear but green tint of a broth. The chicken shawarma bowl ($20) is an interesting mix that includes pickled beets and strawberries, along with their market cheddar burger ($17) and fabulous twice cooked fries. The carrot cupcake is strangely addicting, and I think their gluten free brownie is a bit of a sleeper. Some of their items didn't jive with me previously, such as an underwhelming cashew queso ($9), a semi-laughable Vietnamese steak bowl ($22), and their semi-gringo version of a banh mi ($15). It's not that these items are bad per se, but they definitely don't live up to the same standard that I feel their other dishes do best. Where they hit the biggest home run is their customer service. Everyone working behind the counter does their best to deliver and they almost always do by staying on top of refills, cleanups, and customer greets. I've always enjoyed my experiences here and look forward to every visit.

After meetings we met and had a long lunch sitting outside on one of the two lovely patios. It was comfortable on a beautiful day. The person who took the order was very friendly and so was the manager who came around to check on our meal. One friend had the Thai steak salad and I had the veggie burger made with quinoa, beets and other vegetables. Wow...is what I will say!!! It was so flavorful and the focaccia bun (not gluten free) was incredible! Plus the double cooked fries were delicious! Oh, the side potato salad and kale salad were also delicious! I look forward to being back there next time I'm in Houston!!

At this point, I've tried several of their coffee drinks, shrub sodas, lemonades, burgers, and baked goods. It's all been tasty and well-made. My personal favorite is the lamb kafta burger with the addition of duck fat potatoes. It's a game changer and I highly recommend. Staff is always friendly and helpful, and there is ample indoor and outdoor seating. They also sell a lot of food goodies by the entrance so you can shop around while you're there too. One downside is the parking is a bit limited, but they have overflow parking nearby so just keep that in mind.

I order the mezze plate, chai latte and the smoked salmon tartine. All three were outstanding. The mezze plate was fresh and perfect for sharing. The smoked salmon tartine was fresh and had the perfect zing from the capers and red onion. The staff were extremely pleasant and there was plenty of staff on the clock. They were very accommodating to my mom who's in a wheel chair and offered complimentary drip coffee refills for her since she couldn't get them herself. I would highly suggest Agnes for a casual breakfast or lunch. There were lots of people reading and doing work, so I think this may be a new study spot for me. Overall, a 10/10.
