It's one of those assembly line, build-your-own spots where you pick everything as they make your salad or wrap in front of you. I was honestly overwhelmed by the amount of options. They had six salad bases, over 50 toppings, and 11 dressings. Even the protein options stood out compared to similar places. Not just chicken and steak, but turkey, salmon, shrimp, krab, seafood mix, falafel, quinoa, and more. I got the spicy chicken and my sister got the pesto chicken, and we absolutely loaded them up with toppings. The salads were a little pricey, but honestly worth it because the portions were HUGE and everything tasted super fresh. We were picking at them for basically the whole day. This is one of my go-to spots. I tend to order the same thing each time I visit, and they consistently deliver. There are a couple of other really nice employees and then some really grumpy ones. This Salata is a mixed bag, because if you get one of the top notch employees and the salad is on a fresh day you can end up with a huge fresh salad. Other days you will get a smaller salad and it will be much less fresh. It's much less consistent than Weslayan, but gives bigger portions than most of them, so it's our second favourite within the city of Houston. As I've said before, since they sell salads, perhaps they should be called "Sell-ata" instead? I'm not sure, but $8 for a leafy bowl of green goodness is a good deal, especially considering how large these salads are, with unlimited toppings and all the goodies. Barbie is a big fan of this location and although I've only been here a couple of times, this will probably become one of our local go-tos because it's close to the house and not far from the gym - but I think I will always like the Richmond & Weslayan location better. Salata is an absolutely wonderful chain. Probably one of the best and healthiest that there is. One of the problems with this place is that they get way too busy and have nowhere near enough employees to cover it. Yes, yes, yes. I tried this location first and they set the standard. Favorite location to date. The service is superior, the salads are made with care and are truly "chopped." Ingredients are always fresh. Take out and delivery are always on point. Great drink options. I also like that there are booths in the back if you want to sit and get work done. RE (my Salata review for the Weslayan location): Coming from an area where salads are not really popular, my experiences with salad shops would only be with Sweet Greens and CHOPT. Pretty similar set up, you basically go down a row of options and you get to make your own salad! YUMMY! In my opinion what supersedes my expectations is that I can have as many toppings I want to my salad without having to pay extra (i.e. with Sweet Green you can have an "x" number of toppings then you have to start paying extra). Additionally, there's just much more options compared to Sweet Greens and CHOPT. There are 2 different sizes, so order what you see fit, but since I love salads, I opt for the larger size and that bowl is huge! Salata continues to not disappoint. The ladies that work there are very friendly and know how to fill up your order. Do not hesitate to request more servings of each topping to your bowl because those scoops can be a bit small. I always gotta ask for 2 scoops of broccoli haha. I really wish they had the Ginger Lime dressing without peanuts :( because I always get the fresh herb dressing (which is really good), but it can get a bit boring and redundant. As I have discovered in the past year, salad bars are no longer de rigueur. Essentially, Salata is dominating the fast casual salad sector of the local market in the absence of other alternatives. In the past, I could definitely say going to Salata was an easy, smooth process and the product was good enough to justify return visits. However, after my latest visit, the service was awful. I am only giving this location 2 stars for the product itself, and the service gets zero stars. I stood there in line while the salad line worker spent about 5 minutes making another woman's salad. But when it came time to assist me with my order, the worker began making it, then said nothing and walked away while my order was in progress and helped the guy in line behind me. She could have alerted the other worker on staff to help finish making my order or at least finish it and suggest the other worker go help the customer behind me. I also wanted to order two extra croissants, but my request was not acknowledged. And I found it really weird that the same woman who inexplicably walked away while making my order then came back to take my payment at the cash register. Fail. read more

Disgusting Elena used her hands instead of the SALAD UTENSILS to put food in my container. I had to asked her to use the UTENSILS and not touch my food with her hands. Then she proceeded to rush me through the line although I was the only customer. I watched her closely to be sure she didn't put anything in my food. I decided to pop in after my spin class I was starving, mind you before that I went to check in on Marshall's it was perhaps 8:30 PM they were cleaning up and with a big smile, ask me what I wanted and was ready to start helping me. Thoroughly annoyed that I decided to try this particular location on a whim, when I normally go to the others around the city. My main issue with this particular meal is my ordering of a large salad, to go, and only receiving one container of dressing. It is a LARGE salad, one container is not enough even if you don't go heavy with the dressing. I have been ordering the exact same salad combination for over 5 years, in store and to go at various locations, and not once have I had to specifically request a second cup of dressing, especially to go. I mean, it's bad enough that these salads are 95% lettuce, the least you can do is comp a couple extra mL from your bulk bottle when you're already selling $$$ bottles of dressing @ retail. My second annoyance comes from the not one, but TWO shrimp in my salad that had not been properly de-tailed. The last thing anyone wants to bite into with a mouthful of (dry, dressing-less) salad is the unexpected tail of a shrimp. I will stick with my regular Salata(s) and avoid this one going forward, seeing as the employees here seem either too rushed or too careless to give proper service on a $13+ salad. read more

This chain is my all-time favorite right now. I didn't know they existed until six months ago, but once I did, they sped to the top. Expect to pay at least $10 if you want any meat or avocado on your on your salad. That might seem much to some until you take your first bite. The super high-quality ingredients and custom salad dressing will have you begging for more. I tried to make my own "Salata salad" at my house and it didn't even come close. Something's always missing that makes my homemade concoction not taste the same??? Anyways, not all salad bars are the same, I promise. Come here, then go to Super Salad or Sweet Tomatoes, which are 50% cheaper, and you'll see what I mean. read more

I know I said I am through with this chain, but I had to use a certificate. Staff were friendly and not frugal with the toppings. Lady behind me asked employee if the salad bowls got smaller. I laughed because I thought it, but she said it. Funny thing, one of the owners was ordering a salad and she felt the need to announce herself to the lady behind me. Lady behind me asked for more toppings ( certain ones) and she didn't receive any lip from employees. Honestly, I'm not sure if my dining experience was good because the owner was present disguised as a customer. My husband was just here a week ago and he said when he asked for more toppings (certain ones) the employee added more (frugally) as if she did not want to, but today they seemed happy to do it for the lady behind me. Then again, the owner was behind the lady who was behind me. Also during my husband's visit last week, another employee walked up and put him on blast indirectly while speaking with the employee serving him as if he was not there, but clearly he heard everything. Rudeness seems common at Salata's, and lack of consistency. Thankfully, I did not experience any rudeness today because this review would definitely be different. Parking is a headache but it wasn't too bad and I arrived around 12:30 pm. We have been to many different Salatas around Houston area,but this one by far has the worst attitude... they only give 2 scoops of salad dressing if you want more on your salat,, they charge extra $. My only other experiences with Salata is via the location inside the Park Shops in downtown. I don't recommend that location *at all*!! They are stingy with the toppings and if I ask for more of an ingredient, they will add a minuscule amount. I'm stubborn and will just keep asking, "more...more...more please!"
