My daughter and I love Salata - the food - the variety of vegetables and that they are typically very fresh. We go there more than once a week. We don't always go to the same location - we visit the one in Katy, the one in City Center, the one off Heights Blvd and the one right past Highway 6 on the feeder off I10. What we don't like is the lack of consistency in the service - they can be extremely rude and often times distracted - talking to each other in Spanish - which they don't know I understand - making faces if you ask for a little bit more - because the amount they give you in one place can be very different than the amount they give you in another location. So I ignore their rudeness - I ask for what I want - because I love salads and I am too lazy to make them at home. But I sure wish the workers were nicer, more professional and that they quantity was consistent. read more

My only other experiences with Salata is via the location inside the Park Shops in downtown. I don't recommend that location *at all*!! They are stingy with the toppings and if I ask for more of an ingredient, they will add a minuscule amount. I'm stubborn and will just keep asking, "more...more...more please!" I can be just as stubborn as u, trust me!! This Salata location was such a different experience. The staff I interacted with were incredibly friendly. They gave realistic portions and made me feel like I was getting my money's worth. I picked up my salad after shopping at Marshalls home store. I had a 20 min drive home and I swear I was so tempted to crack open the container on the way! I'm glad I waited because it was a beautifully dressed generous salad. Very much worth the price. I absolutely love this Salata! I love to order online and pick up before work. The salad is always fresh and tasty! I always get extra cilantro and extra chicken and at this location extra means extra. A large salad is enough for two people, maybe three. The cream of broccoli soup is delicious as well. Salata is usually my first choice when I go out for lunch. I've only been to this location a couple of times when I have been in the area for work, but both times it has been extremely disappointing. They are very stingy with their toppings. I had to ask several times to please put more than 10 black beans or 12 kernels of corn in my bowl. Salata must train their employees to put as little as possible in the bowl unless the customer complains. I'm not going to pay almost 12 dollars for a salad that is basically a bowl full of lettuce with a few tiny bits of vegetables tossed in. read more

Not all Salatas are created equal. This location is THE BEST. The manager is always very friendly and they give the best portions of any other Salatas I've been to. My wraps are always bigger and more filling. I go out of my to come to this location when there are others closer to my work and home, knowing my wrap will be more filling and the atmosphere will be friendlier. Keep up the great work. There seems to be some negative reviews of this place, but I really think this place is great within its own category. It's obviously not the same level as tender greens or Mendocino farms in California, but I'd say, relative to Metro Cafe in New York, this place is very clean and fresh. I don't care that Salata is overpriced. Have you ever tried making a salad at home? You have to buy a billion ingredients - half of which will go bad within several days - so you end up eating salad for 5 days straight, then you get sick of it, then you end up throwing out everything cause it's expired. Just moved to Houston from NYC (land of overpriced everything) and I can honestly say this is the worst, most overpriced salad I have ever had. The amount of greens was tiny (compared to a similarly priced salad anywhere else), and after I added shrimp and 3 other veggie/nut add-ins, the price came out to $13. It was my first time at a Salata, and I wasn't even offered bread, which apparently is included. While I was paying, I heard another employee ask a customer if they'd like bread, so I did ask for some at that point. Awesome spot! A create your own salad bar that has a plethora of toppings, ones that you didn't even know you wanted on your salad (sprouts? seeds? peas? beans?)! You start by choosing a small, regular, or wrap, then selecting your lettuce/greens. Then comes the fun part- choosing as many toppings as you want (with no extra charge!). I went with a mix of spring mix & romaine, then went for tomatoes, cucumbers, onion, corn, sprouts, chickpeas, peas, and seeds. After you go overboard with your toppings, you can select to add a meat or seafood if you choose (I saw several types of chicken- plain, BBQ, blackened, etc., salmon, and shrimp), I believe the meats are extra. Then you select from 9-10 dressings, ranging from lites to creamy's. If you want a slice of bread to go with it there are three to choose from, which get warmed up through a toaster oven. There are 6 fresh brewed caffeinated iced teas- sooo many yummy flavors. Peach, green tea, raspberry, black tea, and some others. They also have the small ice cubes/crushed-esque ice, which is such a weird thing to get excited about but I do love it... My total came to $10 even for a create your own salad and an iced tea. The staff was so friendly and great, and the manager on duty was very nice to talk to... I was curious about the franchise and where they have locations (34 in all, sadly just in the south/Texas). I love this Salata. Compared to other establishments, there is usually seating and not too bad of a line. Although it is considered expensive, they do give you a pretty good sized meal with all the ingredients you could ever want. It is almost like a Subway. You choose which salad mix you would like (I usually get spinach). Then you can pick ANY toppings, they don't charge you extra even if you get all of the toppings. They do charge if you decide to get chicken or seafood. Then you have a wide array of delicious dressings, and they give you the salad/wrap to eat/devour. The herb dressing is my favorite, and whenever I decide to get a wrap I save half to eat for later! Getting a salad is also great but you can't save it for too long because of all the ingredients. I visited your Houston River Oaks location today at about 11:45. I was in the rush to pick up salad and return to the office. 3 people were working, and were extremely slow. It took nearly 25 minutes to get a salad. Not to mention that credit card machine wasn't working. I did not get a receipt, even though I asked about it. This location is so far behind from Allen center or location in Tunnels. Poor training of employees. Some of the ingredients did not look fresh at all....spinach, lettuce and some other greens were wilted and did not look appealing at all. Tomatoes did not fresh and chicken was cold. I grab a wrap at least four or five times a week from this location. I've been to other Salatas but this one is my favorite during lunch because of the Asian lady manager. She rocks!
