I booked an appointment online @ the time they opened because it was close to my hotel and it was simple and they texted and acknowledged my appointment and started services as soon as I arrived. It's small and not fancy and the staff are courteous. I got a Great powder dip- I got compliments at my event and by the TSA agent on my nails !! The pedicurist did a good job as well. I was concerned because I arrived @9:30 and by 10:00-10:30 it got busy and I thought the manicurist & pedicurist might rush through the service or I might be there for a long time while they worked on somebody else but they move and shake and get the job done . I went in on Wednesday of last week (5 days ago) to get my nails done before my sister's wedding (which was on Saturday). I asked for gel X on my nails and just regular gel on my toes and initially I was actually really happy with the results-- the nails look really good. The problem is that within two days, i.e. Friday the day before my sister's wedding, my left hand, pinky nail fell off. When I say it fell off, I mean, I literally did not notice that it had come off until like I saw my finger. There was nothing I was doing that made it rip off or anything like that and I don't play with my nails. I don't bite my nails I'm actually really good about not picking at my nails. So I went back on Friday two days after I had come in and the same nail tech technician replaced my pinky nail. Fast forward to Saturday and I look down and my index finger on my left hand (I'm right handed btw) had fallen off in similar fashion meaning that I didn't even know it had fallen off until I looked down and saw my nails. I literally work behind a desk. I don't do yardwork. I don't do any type of manual labor that would make my nails prone to detaching and frankly I've had gel X done twice before on my nails, and I did not experience any of this. Since I was out of town, I plan to go back today, Monday to have them replace my index finger and literally before I even went to the salon I looked down and the middle finger on my left hand had also fallen off! The same woman who initially gave me the manicure replaced my pinky nail (the next day) for free... and when I came in to show her that these two other nails had fallen off she fixed both of them in like 10 minutes and I was actually going to tip her until she told me that it was going to cost me $10......... I would have to pay $10 for her inability to properly adhere these nails onto my fingers.... Literally, they weren't ripped off and in fact one of them fell off in my purse so I had the nail! lol This nail tech told me that i "need to stop picking my nails" which... UM WHAT??? not only was it an extremely offensive and annoying comment because I do NOT pick my nails and I will leave a picture of my nails with this review so that you guys can tell me if there are any signs of me picking my nails. I think you'll agree that I actually have really healthy nail beds/cuticles. There's no peeling or any signs of damage and to top it off I went there solely because it was near Zara where I was picking up my dress for the wedding and it wasn't actually convenient at all for me to go back there twice to get nails put back on and JUST TO REITERATE this all happened within FIVE DAYS (day 2, day 4, day 5) of them being applied to my fingernails. But this is what really upset me. After I adamantly denied picking my nails, the nail tech then tried to say that it had been two weeks since I'd first come (??!!?) implying that I was trying to like milk the system and get free nails put back on even though it's really obvious from my other 7 fingers that these have not been on my nails even 1 single week and they're supposed to last for two weeks. so I don't like to leave bad reviews, but this left the worst taste in my mouth. I paid the $10 but I will never go there again and I really was shocked that they had me pay for it considering I had already paid basically $55 to get them done in the first place and they didn't last more than a day until one started falling off and three days when the second one fell off and then five days when the third one fell off and then rather than owning the fact that clearly they don't know how to apply gel X correctly, they blamed me and made me pay for the inconvenience of needing these nails reapplied three times. BOOOOOO Giving 2 stars bc they looked good but the quality of the application and of the customer service was TERRIBLE. UPDATE: K JUST DOWNGRADED TO 1 STAR BC MY LEFT HAND INDEX AND PINKY AND RIGHT HAND THUMB FELL OFF TODAY (in the pics I put a bandaged around my thumb bc I had initially planned to super glue it back on until The other two fell off). I went here to get my cuticles fixed, and had gone once for polish before, just because it's nearby. I remember I was not satisfied with my nail painting job, and they do seem to have a problem with customer service, as I was vocal about my discontents both the first and second time. This recent time where I didn't get my nails painted, I wasn't satisfied with the cuticles or the general mani/pedi at the time, but they started to look nice after a few days. But, the massage chair didn't work for more than 10 seconds, and the pedicure water started spraying all over my shoes and leaking onto the floor. Also, I think their phone line doesn't work often times, and they're really busy with regulars in the evenings and on weekends. There's better places to get your nails done around lower nob, probably for just $5/10 more. read more

I'm a very shy & quiet person. I went in and asked for a pedicure & full set. The pedicure, while rushed, was perfectly fine; the full set, on the other hand, was unfortunately pretty awful. The staff themselves were friendly, but after showing a reference picture (solid pink nail, no design) 4 different times throughout the manicure (I wasn't offered a color palette; they instead just picked one off the wall that they thought matched). It seemed they couldn't handle being busy very well because my nails turned out pretty botched. I still paid full price with a tip but once I left out I came to realize just how much I didn't like my nails. I decided to go in the next day when they opened so that I could ask for a fix without having to express my displeasure in front of other customers. I showed them my nails side by side to the reference photo & it was clear to all that it should be fixed. I was sat in the manicure chair when the owner came in and began yelling, and i mean *yelling* at me saying to "next time speak up instead of wasting her time by fixing it the next day". Even though I was pretty shaken up, I let her know that I in fact DID speak up, but it was brushed off. She gave the excuse that my manicurist didn't speak English well and while that's perfectly okay...how is it my fault that I assumed they understood when I showed the photo and they nodded in agreement? She proceeded to rant loudly about how ridiculous I was for coming in and kindly expressing my displeasure, while offering to pay for a replacement, until another customer came in, and even then she kept going, only quieter. I was so uncomfortable and on the verge of tears, being directly yelled at while trying to explain that I wasn't trying to upset anyone. After an hour of work, the nails looked like the photo, again pink nails, no designs. While the other staff were nice enough, I won't be returning. read more

I went in to get a gel pedi. Gel pedi was fine (it's been a couple of hours), but the part that caught me off guard was one of the employees talking about her trip to India, very loudly. Designs on both because I was on my way to Hawaii and wanted to feel a little extra Aloha spirit. Lily and her team did a phenomenal job. I was going for a Tiffany blue with silver glitter for my nails and Lily matched the colors and picture perfectly. Sutter Nails, hands down is my new favorite nail shop. I made an APPOINTMENT, after they put the nail on, I I was told they did not have time (due to walk ins) to do my nails the way I wanted. (Paint 4 nails solid and a simple flower on the 5th nail) I will never go back. They are also super thick! I suggest if you want a good set of Gel X don't go here. They have good prices, and they are consistent (other nail salons will tell you one price when you walk in and scam you into more when you're done, stacking on fee after fee even if you tell them everything from the get-go). I usually go for dipping powder ($50) and a design or two, usually paying no more than $70 + tip. Other salons have charged me $125 + tip for the same service. The ladies are friendly and accommodating. I've been there during busy and quiet times, and they work quick to make sure you are attended to. read more

If only you could leave negative stars. A friend recommended I stop by here so I was excited to try this place. Unfortunately, I just had the worst experience. I walked in before 5 pm to see if they could do a manicure. "5 minutes, pick a color". Great. Picked a color. They were busy so I was asked to sit in a pedicure chair to wait. No big deal. Called a friend at 5 to let her know as we had plans later. 15 min later, they finally applied the gel removal liquid and foils. Sat for another 15 min. Finally, at 5:40 I had to scratch off what was left and get going. I asked for a file from one of the staff who didn't even respond verbally - just rudely turned away. Finally she handed one over. I called my friend to say I was on the way to meet her around the corner. At 5:45, they saw me get up and started literally scolding me about not being patient and waiting. They insisted I pay $10 for the gel removal when I did all the removing! I was furious but it was literally three ladies yelling at me to pay and this random dude on his phone rolling his eyes. I know these times are difficult for everyone and didn't want to be "that person" so I paid but I am definitely never going back and do not recommend this place. Honestly if they had just said, "come back later or tomorrow," I totally respect that! Treat your customers with respect, even if they are new ones. Especially if they are new ones! Even if I did arrive when you said I did at 5:15 (which is wrong), that would have been nearly half an hour of waiting around. Since then, another friend who used to be Yelp Elite and lived in the neighborhood told me about the bad experience she had at Sutter Nails -- and how the review she posted here was later deleted so I won't be surprised if this disappears. After 60 reviews here on Yelp, this is my first negative review - I try to live by that saying "if you can't say anything nice, don't say it at all." So I don't see any further point in continuing this unpleasant dialog - all the best to you and your employees.
