I always try to clearly explain the style I'm looking for, but during busy hours it often feels like my requests are dismissed rather than the technicians helping me find the closest available option. At times, I felt awkward trying to figure out what was possible on my own while the technician simply watched instead of assisting me. At my last visit, the Gel-X application felt especially rushed. There was excess glue left around my nails which looked messy and unprofessional. While the final design was nice, it ultimately was not what I had originally asked for. When I expressed disappointment prior to leaving, the technician later explained there had been a language barrier. However, this was never communicated during the time of service. Instead, I was repeatedly told "no" to the options I asked about. Afterward, I reviewed the salon's website and realized they actually did offer the exact style I wanted. What made me especially uncomfortable, though, was that the technician put their hands in my hair without asking first. That completely crossed a personal boundary and felt very disrespectful. Overall, I think this salon is fine for simple services, but if you're looking for detailed nail art or a more attentive customer experience, you may leave feeling frustrated.

I think it's because of all of the switching off, there's so much repetitive filing. 3. I've never had a set of Gel-X last more than a few days without at least one falling off. I once left the salon and the thumb came clean off within 20 minutes and then I had to wait for almost 45 for them to glue it back on again. Another nail popped off within a day. I really wanted to like this place but can't come back, it's very inconsistent and honestly just a waste of money if I have to keep getting my nails redone before 2 weeks.

I was really excited because it's nearby my job so it's very convenient and I was happy to have found a new place. I went back to get another gel manicure here, three days ago. Immediately, after leaving, I noticed that the polish looked very warped, kind of cloudy with almost like a purpleish, bruised looking appearance swirled under several of the nails. I've been getting gel manicures since gel came out, and I've never seen anything like that. Also, that night I got a chip on one of my nails just out of nowhere, which has never happened. Anyway, they were really easy about getting me back in for a fix. When I got there, I assumed that I would pick a new polish color because obviously somethings off with this particular polish and they told me that that would be half price. I am on a budget and had just spent $60 after tip and did not want to pay another $25. I told them my concern that it was just going to happen again because it seems like something's weird with the polish and they kind of brushed me off and said it was fine. And then after "fixing" it - it's still warped and splotchy. Very disappointing. I asked for gel X on my nails and just regular gel on my toes and initially I was actually really happy with the results-- the nails look really good. The problem is that within two days, i.e. Friday the day before my sister's wedding, my left hand, pinky nail fell off. When I say it fell off, I mean, I literally did not notice that it had come off until like I saw my finger. There was nothing I was doing that made it rip off or anything like that and I don't play with my nails. I don't bite my nails I'm actually really good about not picking at my nails. So I went back on Friday two days after I had come in and the same nail tech technician replaced my pinky nail. Fast forward to Saturday and I look down and my index finger on my left hand (I'm right handed btw) had fallen off in similar fashion meaning that I didn't even know it had fallen off until I looked down and saw my nails. I literally work behind a desk. I don't do yardwork. I don't do any type of manual labor that would make my nails prone to detaching and frankly I've had gel X done twice before on my nails, and I did not experience any of this. Since I was out of town, I plan to go back today, Monday to have them replace my index finger and literally before I even went to the salon I looked down and the middle finger on my left hand had also fallen off! The same woman who initially gave me the manicure replaced my pinky nail (the next day) for free... and when I came in to show her that these two other nails had fallen off she fixed both of them in like 10 minutes and I was actually going to tip her until she told me that it was going to cost me $10......... I would have to pay $10 for her inability to properly adhere these nails onto my fingers.... Literally, they weren't ripped off and in fact one of them fell off in my purse so I had the nail! lol This nail tech told me that i "need to stop picking my nails" which... UM WHAT??? not only was it an extremely offensive and annoying comment because I do NOT pick my nails and I will leave a picture of my nails with this review so that you guys can tell me if there are any signs of me picking my nails. I think you'll agree that I actually have really healthy nail beds/cuticles. There's no peeling or any signs of damage and to top it off I went there solely because it was near Zara where I was picking up my dress for the wedding and it wasn't actually convenient at all for me to go back there twice to get nails put back on and JUST TO REITERATE this all happened within FIVE DAYS (day 2, day 4, day 5) of them being applied to my fingernails. But this is what really upset me. After I adamantly denied picking my nails, the nail tech then tried to say that it had been two weeks since I'd first come (??!!?) implying that I was trying to like milk the system and get free nails put back on even though it's really obvious from my other 7 fingers that these have not been on my nails even 1 single week and they're supposed to last for two weeks. so I don't like to leave bad reviews, but this left the worst taste in my mouth. I paid the $10 but I will never go there again and I really was shocked that they had me pay for it considering I had already paid basically $55 to get them done in the first place and they didn't last more than a day until one started falling off and three days when the second one fell off and then five days when the third one fell off and then rather than owning the fact that clearly they don't know how to apply gel X correctly, they blamed me and made me pay for the inconvenience of needing these nails reapplied three times. I stopped by Paua and got a Milk & Honey pedicure. From the moment I stepped in and was greeted by the Ali, the receptionist, I felt at ease. Ali and my nail tech, Phong, helped me pick out a color for my toenails. The Milk & Honey pedicure comes with an exfoliating and moisturizing treatment followed by a hot oil foot massage. I'm a runner and have gnarly feet, but Phong went to town exfoliating. I was offered water/tea and even given control of the remote control to watch what I wanted to on TV. The space was clean, quiet, and relaxing. The chairs are really comfortable too. Ali was so warm and welcoming, and I was impressed to see her cleaning and helping set up treatments for the next customer. I later learned she was the owner. It's nice to see that attention to detail and care; it reminds me why supporting small businesses is so important. I'll be back!
