They changed ownership a long time ago, but I didn't update my review. This update is long overdue. Because of this salon's proximity to my work, this location is so convenient for me. My initial return went so well, I've come in numerous times since. They demonstrate great care and attention to detail, every time. There's no haste or rushing, regardless of how busy they are. It's a peaceful experience, like it should be! I've been so happy with them that I came here for my wedding nails. My. Wedding. Nails. And they NAILED IT!!! Really, they were perfect. i've been looking for a reasonably priced nail place in the city for awhile now. i've been here twice now and both times have been in love with how my nails turned out. i've had both bam and mai as my technicians. both of them did an amazing job on the cuticle work and shape. it's around $60 for a regular hard gel fill with no design. i got chrome so mine came out to $72 without tip. my first time i went, my nails lasted a whole month. i will keep coming here and highly recommend. read more

Easy to make appointments, nice and good quality service, smaller area but easy to get in and out. Very understanding when I asked for different polish or trying another coat. They prioritize making your nails looking good. Would go again for gel pedicure and manicure. read more

I recently moved to the city and was looking for a new nail spot. I came across this place through the reviews and decided to give it a shot, and they completely blew my mind. Between how affordable the pricing is and how incredibly sweet the staff is, I truly don't see myself going anywhere else. I've done two builder gel sets since moving here (one being a fill), and when I tell you my nails did not lift at all, even after having a set for four weeks, I was shocked. I've been to 10-15 salons in my life, and this is the first time I've ever had zero lifting on any nail (thank you, Mia). My most recent set was for NYE, and Queenie absolutely nailed my inspo photos and somehow made them even better than I imagined. I love this place with all my heart and don't usually go out of my way to write reviews, but this spot truly deserves it. They're also super flexible with appointments when possible and genuinely want their customers to be happy. Never going anywhere else. Petition to rebrand as Happy Customer Salon. 10/10 recommend! read more

Have been here now 3 times and got dip nails, like I normally do. Mia did a good job, my only complaint is that she kept hitting my skin around the cuticle and caused redness, irritation, and slight pain to touch. Great job! I scheduled an appointment for a Gel Removal + New Set. The confirmation email said it'd be $45 (no design etc). I was the only customer when I came in at 12pm on a Friday. Two people came in after me. This is the reference photo I showed the woman doing my nails, and she was confident she could do it, and she totally did! After removing what was left of my 2-month old gel set and prepping my nails, she started with 2 layers of a light/thin nude color. Then moved on to the design. She asked for the reference photo again and was looking at it the whole time. She even re-started the blue on one nail when she messed up a little. She did 2 layers of the blue. Then she did 2 layers of top coat. Total was $65 before tip. I asked for her name and it sounded like she said "Greenly" but I probably misheard her. read more

I'm always in North Beach but I've never gotten my nails done here. Luckily for me one of my nails broke and my fingers looked awful, but it led me to this gem! I got a gel manicure done by Mai and she was so meticulous with the filing, cuticle cutting, and painting. I love when the polish is super close to the cuticle line and perfectly rounded. Mai made sure I loved the shape before she proceeded cutting it. Everyone in the nail salon was super nice as well. Would def be coming back :) read more

Excellent experience and service! Came here on Labor Day and I was the only one there! I did call earlier that day and made an appointment, and was able to get one same day! Great start! When I arrived, Long (spelling?) was ready to help me right away! She was attentive and professional! Just a great auntie all around! I did a gel removal and regular manicure. I was indecisive when it came to what color to pick and Long was so helpful, painting different colors on my nails to demonstrate, and helping me choose! We picked out a shimmery one with stars and circles and she was so patient to dig out the stars in the polish to put them on my nails! Super grateful for how considerate she is! Also it was baking hot that day and she turned on a fan facing me so it will be cooler, so sweet! The total came out to $30, which is a great price! She was attentive to the end, making sure my nails are dry and set before letting me go. Will definitely be back for a pedicure soon! read more

Came here yesterday for a nail appointment. I asked for glazed donut nails and showed a picture of what I wanted. I asked my nail tech if she could do it, and if not, I'd just stick with a classic manicure with red polish. The lady told me confidently that she knew how to do it, and that it'd have to be a gel manicure for $40. I agreed, thinking she had done this design before. But then she didn't seem to know what colors to use and also put on way too much chrome nail powder- my nails looked completely silver and not at all like the pinkish glazed donut look. By the time I realized she was almost done, I told her it wasn't what I had initially asked for. But she said it was too late and she couldn't change it. Then when charging me, she mentioned that the chrome powder cost an extra $10, which she had failed to mention earlier. I ended up paying over $50 for a manicure I didn't like and not at all like the glazed donut nails I had asked for. I should've just stuck with a classic manicure for cheaper. I definitely would not come back. This is my first 1 star review, but I was genuinely very disappointed with my experience at New Age Nails. read more

The service is phenomenal here!! It's a small salon and I highly recommend an appointment to ensure service as these gals get very busy!! I did gel x in medium almond. We cut off the number at the tip of the nail and kept the length. This has been the best set I have ever gotten in terms of the care and quality that went into the install. Looove this place and do not intend to do my nails any where else. This will be my go to spot! read more

I've been coming to Mai for about 6 months and she always does an amazing job! This is probably my fave mani to date so I wanted to share it. Silver chrome gel mani. *Please note* With chrome nails the base layer makes ALL the difference! I had this done with a black base so the silver was more opaque/solid.. if you were to put this over a white base it would be transparent. Chrome is a topper not a base color. Please listen to her recommendations if you show her a photo. She knows what she is doing! 10/10 recommend Mai and New Age Nails - best in north beach and sf! read more

I wish I could give this place more than five stars!! - I booked an appointment less than an hour before I came in and they had one available - huge assortment of colors - extremely accommodating and meticulous with my pedicure and gel manicure - massaged me for 20 minutes - the quality of my gel is the best I've ever had (see photo for reference), 5 coats total In summary, I highly recommend this place!! Mai did an amazing job on my jelly dip powder nails. She was so attentive and she was so focused on what she was doing and took her time to make it look the best. She made sure that I was satisfied with the shape and the color. The nails came out amazing. Mai was so understanding and kind of what I wanted. They also offer complimentary drinks. I called on Sunday to see if I could get 2 mani/pedis and was pleased when they told me they had availability. My boyfriend and I walked down and were greeted by our nail techs, Mai and Lory. They were kind enough to offer water or tea before we started. Mai was my nail tech and she is a perfectionist! They did not have a matching gel/regular polish color, so Mai picked out the perfect shade of pink. For my nails, I showed her a picture of what I wanted and she combined 3 different gel colors to get the perfect shade. She was also a perfectionist when it came to my nail shape. My boyfriend also spoke very highly of Lory. He really enjoyed the leg message that came with his pedi. I am so impressed and will continue to get my nails done here! read more

I have never written a Yelp review before but New Age Nails is worth it! I have been going to Mai at New Age Nails for 6 months now. The salon is clean and they always provide a complimentary beverage! Mai really takes her time and makes sure that my nails are perfect when I leave. I have pretty thin nails so she makes sure to treat them gently, uses strengthening solution, and does not over-file them. It is easy to schedule with her and I'm always happy with how they turn out. I came in to have my gel nails removed and Min went so above and beyond! I had a super broken nail and they were very careful. After the gel was off, they repaired my broken nail and filed and shaped my nails as a part of the service and added a clear coat as well. Kathy is amazing! I called for a pedicure on a Monday and she was able to fit me in at 4pm. She even texted to confirm. She greeted me by name and got me seating and soaking right away. They were a little busy when I first got there, but she continued to check in with me which I really appreciated. You can tell this is a locals loved spot, she's been there for 10 years! I heard her telling the woman next to me that she should take a break from her gel nails for them to heal, and that she'll always try to give the service we want, but also wants you to take care of yourself. I loved that honesty and it really endeared me to her salon. Her pricing is super affordable ($30 for a pedicure) and gives you several options to pay. I will 100% be coming back here! read more

I'm not post photos but have them, and she has seen them. My eyebrows also were like hard and wouldn't move. Later they started falling out too. She gave me a full refund when I send her pics. But this is before everything started falling out. I had to buy a lash serum to grow them back. And then in August I started noticing that my eyebrows were falling out. I thought they were shedding normally and going back to blonde. NOPE! They weren't growing back at all. I went to the dr and it is 100% because of what she did. I now am using rogaine to regrow them. It's taking forever and she also refused to pay for product to help grown them back. It's probably going to be another 2-3 months of me looking awful because of Perri. Have the Holiday you deserve.

I'm very blonde and wanted to go one shade darker (dark blonde) and I left purple. I explained in detail what I wanted and what I didn't want, and it turned out even worse than what I didn't want. The tint was also incomplete and left me with half dark, half blonde hairs. I left looking like a monster.

My first gel x set with them was decent but nothing great. I noticed I developed quite a few hang nails afterwards but thought maybe it was user error. Simply not applying my cuticle oil as diligently as I should. I decided to give them another shot once my gel x extensions grew out and after that appointment it confirmed I will never go back again. I walked in and was kindly greeted by a woman who asked what I needed and quickly sat me down to get the service started. Another woman came to where I was seated and began digging at my nails and yanking my hand. With every use of the drill she tore at my cuticles more and more. She then proceeded to use the cuticle scissors and ripped away at what was left of my cuticles. My entire left hand was left bleeding and in excruciating pain, to the point where my nails looked like I got in a fight and lost. It wasn't until she realized all my fingers on my left hand were bleeding that she stopped yanking at my hand and seemed to care about the terrible job she had been doing for the last hour. She finished my nails and told me she didn't charge me for the fill.... As if she was doing me a favor. I didn't want to pay but reluctantly did anyways but of course I did not tip her. It's now been three days and my cuticles are still red, raw, and in so much pain daily tasks such as showering and reaching into my purse have become sharp reminders of the terrible service and experience I received. I write all this to say, this place is not worth the pain and headache.
