$23 for underarms sugaring (after tax and tips) I tried waxing a year ago and had a really really bad allergic reaction, which I am still unsure whether it's to the ingredients being used or to the process of waxing itself. I texted them before hand to get some advice and they were kind enough to text me back and gave me some tips. I took anti-histamine 30 minutes before going in and took an ibuprofen that night before going to bed. Voila! My skin is still smooth and I have no allergic reaction. Alexandra was very nice and friendly. The service was very fast and it didn't hurt much at all. The tree tea oil Alexandra out on me afterwards also didn't feel heavy or creamy. It is very light and dry relatively fast so I can still go on with my day rather than having to rush home. I would definitely come back for other services! read more

I saw Alex for my first ever wax and brow threading appointment. It was such a breeze and a really comfortable experience. I highly recommend and was so happy with the results. read more

I have been going to Alex for my sugaring needs for four years now (on and off with COVID) and she is truly the epitome of professionalism! She does it as quickly and carefully as possible, and she genuinely cares about each and every one of her clients. Anytime anyone needs any type of waxing, I recommend they come to Alex. Her professionalism and care puts Sugar San Francisco over the top. read more

Hands down best sugar wax experiences that I've had. Not only is Alex thorough, but she makes a great effort to make a very awkward process as relaxing as possible. She is a great conversationalist, which helps a lot. In addition, she pays attention to details and I felt very secure with her COVID and hygiene practices. I highly recommend her if this is your first experience with sugar waxing (and of course, if you are a repeat sugar waxing client, you will definitely appreciate her skill) read more

Alex is the best and does a very thorough job with sugaring - the best I've had. She also is a great conversationalist and makes the time on the table go by quick. Highly recommend, thank you Alex!! read more

Alexandra is the owner and she has been doing my sugar Brazilian for at least 5 years. Highly recommend!

One of the best sugars I've received. She was quick, held such a wonderful conversation and my hair was completely gone. Would def go back and recommend! read more

Luisa was amazing at making my Brazilian as painless as possible, she was really gentle and made what's usually a really uncomfortable experience for me REALLY COMFORTABLE. By the end of our appointment I just had to hug her. She's a sweet heart too! LADIES STOP WAXING AND START SUGARING!! There is barely any pain compared to my traumatic waxes. Oh yea, Ill rock an 80s bush just to avoid waxes lol. But not no moe! read more

I've been coming to Luisa for over 1 year now and I will never go to anyone else. I don't care if she moves across the world. I will just budget that plane ticket into my sugaring costs. I never come on Yelp and oftentimes I find these reviews to be hyper-critical where it doesn't matter (FYI people: you SHOULD NOT rate a restaurant down because of the state of the sidewalk outside or the parking sitch) BUT I have to shout out Luisa. I'm a huge baby when it comes to waxing or skin treatments and Luisa calmed me down from day 1 and her (table)side-manner is what's kept me coming back this long. Every time I go I end up having a great time with her which makes me completely forget that she's ripping out hundreds of hair per millisecond so that's neat. I also reacted really poorly to waxing in the past (broke out immediately after) and sugaring seems to be much more gentle on my skin. Lastly, because it's important, she has a ton of experience and can help with aftercare and ensuring that your skin improves with time as you sugar more and more often. So, at risk of never being able to get an appt with her again, I'll end by saying I can't recommend her enough, esp if you're a scaredy cat and/or first-timer to all this! read more

Love this place! Very clean, comfortable and cute space. Started out seeing Alex 4 years ago, and have been seeing Luisa Olmos for the last 3 years. I appreciate that she is reliable, has never cancelled or rescheduled me. They really know skin here, I have very sensitive skin and am happy to have found people that have improved and not harmed it. I would book in advance a couple of weeks, because the ideal time spots seem to fill up fast. read more

Been coming here for over a year now, used to live on the same block which was AMAZING. I moved to San Mateo recently but still make an excuse to come up to sf to see them every 4-6 weeks. It's totally worth it. Parking can be a struggle but again, worth it. Alex, Luisa, and Jessica are all great, I always choose first available because they're all just as good. Alex always takes extra time to get ingrown hairs which I love, since I'm prone to them. They also sell a bunch of products, and I bought one for ingrowns that is a LIFESAVER. They really know what they're talking about here. Unless I move to San Jose, I'll probably keep making the trek here! read more

I had given up on threading a while ago because I never threading looked as good or lasted as long. But then I was desperate and had to make an appointment anywhere and found Sugar. They were great. 1. they are open late on weekdays so I can go after work 2. Luisa did a great job- and she did my eyebrows in a way where she knew I was trying to grow parts out. So they were clean AND I knew that in the longrun they would be even better. 3. Luisa threaded slowly so that the hair would get pulled and not just break apart. It has been a week and the hair hasn't grown back yet. read more

After moving to San Francisco a year ago, I've had a hard time finding a salon that was a reasonable distance from me, had hours that accommodated my crazy schedule, wasn't ridiculously priced, and did threading. This surprisingly wasn't an easy task in a city with so many salons. After trying a few waxes at little nail salons and leaving unsatisfied, I was left having to do my own brows in between trips home. I live literally a block from Sugar San Francisco, and when Christopher Collins closed, I was curious as to what would replace the shop. Then one day I was walking home and saw the inside was finished and naturally yelped Sugar. I went to the website and made an appointment online for my next day off. The inside is bright, clean and cute! Alex made me feel as if I'd known her for years and was wonderful to talk to. She did such an amazing job threading my eyebrows and lip. They looked incredible after she was finished with them. I had a wonderful experience and look forward to going back and getting sugared! I would highly recommend to anyone in SF! read more

Alex was awesome!! Made me feel very comfortable, sugaring was so well done it barely hurt. Make sure to go to the address in the email confirmation not in google maps! read more

Not at all surprised that Sugar has all 5 star ratings. I recently stumbled upon Sugar and was overjoyed with my experience. Alexandra is an inspiring, young entrepreneur who is talented, meticulous and passionate about her craft. Her salon space is charming and inviting. As soon as i walked in the door, she offered me a glass of wine and talked me through the process of 'sugaring', something I knew nothing about. During my session (brazilian), Alexandra educated me on the sugar based substance she was using and the key environmental and health benefits. Here is a website she pointed me to that speaks to all of that - really fascinating stuff: http://alexandriaprofessional.com/wax-vx-sugar. Needless to say, it was the best 'waxing' experience i've ever had. For the first time i wasn't red and in pain for hours after the fact. After 8 years in the city trying over two dozen salons, my search is over. Net-net: Highly recommended! read more

It's rare that I'm grateful for someone to inflict pain on me, much less pay them to do so, but I will gladly come back to Alex for my next Brazilian. As someone who is a stickler for details, I was thankful that Alex shared my detail-oriented view on hair removal. Sugaring certainly is the way to go, especially in more--ahem--delicate areas, and Alex did a great job getting every single hair (something that many others have failed to do). Bonus: her spa is tiny, bright, private, and adorably decorated. read more

This was the most amazing experience for waxing, especially for all first timers. For more context, I have never gotten waxed on any part of my body (I have never waxed my eyebrows, legs, etc.). On a whim, I decided to try a Brazilian Sugaring. I'm relatively new to the bay area and was hoping that Yelp would lead me in the right direction of a good experience for my first time. Boy, were all my expectations exceeded! Alex is a perfectionist, takes a lot of pride in her work and will not let you leave unless you are fully satisfied with her work. She is an amazingly easy person to talk to, professional and very knowledgeable in the art of waxing. This was a very low pain experience, which I must say, I was shocked about since I was getting my first time wax and it was a Brazilian. Place was great, brightly lit and very clean. I will definitely be back for more! read more

I first went to see Alex when she was at Bare by Tru after having read a ton of rave reviews about her. Now I've followed her to her own shop, Sugar San Francisco. Lucky for me, it's conveniently located in my neighborhood and so much of a better option than the dodgy-looking nail salons that offer waxing and the pricey hotel spas nearby. She's professional and friendly and her small shop is clean and inviting. She uses organic hard wax for Brazilians, which I think is a lot less painful than the common wax+cloth strips combo. I haven't tried sugaring yet but I hear it's less painful too. You can also book appointments through the website, which I always find more convenient than having to call to make appointments. read more

Love love love ... so grateful for these girls and the new space is adorable! Defuzzing can be a painful bore but these ladies (and I think I've had appointments w everyone, Alexandra was my last and hooray thumbs up) are super engaging, quick and make it reasonably painless - love em, go let them take care of yiu read more

I moved to San Francisco about 18month ago and after trying out 3 different waxing salons, finally got luckily paired up with Alex at her prior salon. I have been going to her faithfully for over 15months now and easily made the switch to her new location, Sugar San Francisco. The salon (Sugar San Francisco) is really cute, very clean, and bright. Alex is very flexible about her appointment times and does an excellent job of waxing any part of the body. She's very professional and easy to talk to; I actually really look forward to my appointments - not just for the pampering but also just to see Alex! She has extremely fair pricing, and I would highly recommend this salon to anyone in the SF area! read more

I love Sugar SF! This was my first ever experience with any sort of wax or sugaring and it was so great. Sugar SF had come recommended to me from friends and co-workers, so I thought I'd give it a go. The staff is super knowledgeable and friendly - I could've hung out in there all day if I could. Nycole did my Brazilian sugar - she was the sweetest, was so calm, relaxed and personable during this "new" experience. I also got my eyebrows and lip sugared as well while in there and the gal who did those for me was amazing - so cool and collected, made me feel right at home! Would recommend Sugar to everyone! read more

What a fantastic little gem of salon! The space is super cute! So bright, welcoming, clean...and quite trendy to boot! I wish my apartment looked like Sugar SF! I've been going to Alex for my brows, lip, and bikini for years. She does a flawless job with everything every.single.time. My brows especially! You can tell, without a doubt, she takes a lot of pride in her work as shes incredibly knowledgable, always up to speed with the latest and greatest, and that she's mastered the art of waxing, sugaring, AND threading. If you are in need of a little hair removal, at a great price, with a rock star of an esthetician, look no further!!!! read more

New to the city and live on the same block as Sugar San Francisco! I am so lucky. The owner, Alex, was lovely and provided a comfortable sugar Brazilian, with minimal discomfort and irritation. She is kind, gentle and very talented. I like the products used at the shop. The price point for returning customers is very fair. I would highly recommend for all waxing/threading needs. Definitely utilize the online booking tool, as their client base is robust and walk-ins are limited. read more

Alex is the best! she's waxed, threaded, and sugared various parts of me (eyebrows, upper lip, bikini, legs) and I've never once had a bad reaction. I have sensitive skin and am prone to next-day redness, scarring, and break outs and I've never experienced this after having a treatment with Alex. She's also capable of giving me the least painful bikini wax ever, which means she's cream of the crop in my book. She's professional and friendly, and visiting sugar is always a fun time! read more

It was painful, but since I moved to San Francisco I had to leave my regular sugaring lady (if you live near Santa Cruz - go see Heather at Fusion in Capitola (http://www.yelp.com/biz/fusion-salon-and-spa-santa-cruz), she's fantastic. But I'm so happy I found Alex and her cute little salon on Sutter. She's super nice, friendly and knows her stuff. I've had some horrible wax jobs for awhile and usually always get sugared, it just feels cleaner, is less painful than waxing, and easier to clean up too. You don't feel as sticky afterwards. She also has a hard, organic wax for Brazilians, definitely interesting and I heard it's similar to sugaring. :) Go give her a try! read more

For those of you who wax regularly, you know that finding a great aesthetician is like trying to find 'the one' - it takes a lot of trial and error and costs a fortune. Not to mention the awkwardness that goes along with any new person around your bikini area. So, I was so incredibly lucky to have stumbled into Alex's salon with a friend, desperate for a pre-Vegas wax. Alex is hilarious, down-to-earth, and a kick-ass waxer. She makes you feel so comfortable and her space is light and clean. She also gives you numbing spray, which makes everything a thousand times better. I've been getting waxed for 10+ years, 5 of which exclusively at the same salon, and not only did Alex do the impossible and convert me to sugaring (which by the way, is awesome), she has also now become my #1 favorite waxer. read more

I highly recommend Sugar - Alex is fantastic. She's quick, efficient, friendly and makes you feel comfortable. Also - for anyone considering getting sugared for the first time, it is definitely worth it! I've tried to get waxed several times over the last few years at various places, and I've had a terrible reaction to the wax every time. With sugaring, I've never had a bad reaction. Alex's 5-star review is well deserved! read more

Honestly can't say enough good things. Im a new sugaring convert! Luisa is amazing and made me feel so comfortable. 10/10

I honestly can't say anything but wonderful things about Alex and her shop. First off making an appointment was super easy and can be done online or voer the phone. The place is beautiful and the decor is amazing, comfortable and chic. I went to get my first ever brazilian and I cant tell you I was SO NERVOUS. My palms were sweaty before walking in the door but Alex easily calmed my nerves with a glass of wine and some much needed guidance. She took the time to explain sugaring and answer everyone of my questions. The process was not nearly as painful as I had imagined it to be and I have Alex to thank for keeping me calm with her professional demeanor and great conversation. I'd recommend Sugar San Francisco to anyone and everyone and will be going back to Alex for all of my beautification needs (p.s. she has a killer referral program as well) read more

What a great find! A charming, light, pretty salon with friendly and supportive staff. I am a sugar convert! It seems like a best kept secret! I will never go back to wax again. Sugar is natural, gentle, and seems to actually last longer. I will continue going back to Sugar SF reguarly. I love this place! read more

I have been going to Alex for almost a year now and couldn't be happier with the results. Since going to her, my skin is so smooth and the hair grows back at a much slower rate! On top of the great brazilians, Alex is really awesome and fun to talk to, and her shop is really cute and clean! Booking an appointment is a breeze and she always seems to have availability last minute, which is great because my schedule is always changing and I usually don't know when I will have time until the day before or day of. I am so happy to have found her shop and I highly recommend her! read more

Sugar San Francisco is my favorite place. I've tried so many different places where sugaring was very painful. This is all in the best since I've met Louisa .She is amazing. The appointments are quick and painless. read more

i am usually a silent yelp user, logging on just to search for establishments and almost never leaving reviews. but DAMN i had such a good experience at sugar sf i just have to leave a review! i was able to book an appt the day before i needed it which was great. alex (the owner) was AMAZING! i went in planning to just get my bikini done (it was my first time ever getting the hair removed down there so i wanted to ease in) and left with a full brazilian and my underarms done. alex is such a pro - quick effective and super detail oriented, using sugar to get most of the hair + hard wax and tweezers to get the remainders. she chatted with me through the entire process to keep my mind off the discomfort and it totally worked, even when it got painful around the labia area. the entire process was enjoyable, affordable, and these results are next level. i love you sugar sf!! read more

Forget waxing, sugaring is the real deal!!! Alexandra was amazing, clean, quick and truly a master of her craft! Triple checked there were no hairs left and made sure I was doing okay through the whole process. Can't wait for my next appointment! read more

I had been doing hard wax for the past few months until I heard great things about sugaring. I decided to give it a try - Louisa made me feel comfortable and it was definitely less painful than waxing (possibly more quick/frequent smaller doses of pain than waxing) - I'd come here again! Their online service also makes it very easy to book and manage appointments :) read more

Alex is the best! Depillation is not the most fun activity for any of us. Alex dulls the pain, however, with her wit, professionalism, and mastery of an array of techniques. She really has an eye for detail and makes sure every hair is where it should - or shouldn't be. I love what she does with my brows, will never go back to waxing after my experience with sugaring, and appreciate how little she misses - but also how little wax she leaves behind - on my legs. Bonuses: her pricing is beyond reasonable, and you can book and manage appointments online. read more

This is the best sugaring studio I have been to. EVER. This location is clean, convenient and making an appointment online is a breeze. I have gone to both Louisa and Alex and both ladies are amazingly friendly and meticulous. Seriously I did not know that level of perfection was possible. The prices are also super reasonable for SF. You have found a lifetime client!! Also I have had my eyebrows threaded here which was a first for me and I have to say that I was a big fan. Alex did a fantastic job shaping my brows and its so much less painful than waxing. Next I want to try the Lash Lift! read more

I went to Alex for the first time yesterday and loved my experience there. Her new space is cute, clean, and decorated beautifully! She uses high quality products that are organic and biodegradable. The hard-wax is considerably less painful than other experiences that I've had and she was meticulous and made sure that everything was perfect. I would absolutely recommend and a bonus, she is reasonably priced! read more

I'm officially a sugaring convert. Had my first sugaring session today after 10+ years of regular waxing and cannot wait to go back! (Who says that after getting their hair ripped out at the root...?) Highlights: 1) The results. I couldn't believe how smooth and clean everything looked and felt immediately after the service, with almost no irritation at all because of the sugar paste. AH-mazing. 2) Alex. She is professional, friendly, and real. She made me feel super comfortable from the moment I met her and using my Gilt coupon was no problemo. 3) The space. It's bright, cute, clean, and Alex has all the little details worked out - hooks to hang your bag, bins for your clothes, water/wine upon arrival. I'm so glad I sprung for the 3-session deal on Gilt because this just became my go-to spot. I considered keeping "Sugar" a secret, but decided to share the love. You're welcome, San Francisco :) read more

Alexandra is the best! I was new to brazillian waxing, and terrified, but Alex made the whole process easier than I ever would have imagined. She took time to explain the process of sugaring, and was so easy to talk to. She isn't just professional and thorough, she's also interesting to talk to and has a way of magically distracting me from the pain of waxing. Plus her salon is clean, beautifully decorated, and totally calming. I'm recommending Alex to all of my friends! Couldn't imagine going anywhere else after such a positive experience. read more
