This is a bit of an overdue review, but I had such an amazing time horseback riding! I hadn't ridden since I was about 5 years old, so I was definitely a little nervous going into it. I'm not sure it's exactly like riding a bike--but Karen made me feel completely at ease from the start. Kiwi, my horse, was incredibly patient and gentle with me. I swear she knew I needed a little extra TLC! It made the whole experience so enjoyable and stress-free. I even got to do a tiny bit of trotting, which was such a fun bonus. Overall, it was such a great experience, and I would absolutely recommend this place to anyone looking to try horseback riding or get back into it! read more

I'd scheduled a 75 minute ride as a surprise for my daughter's 10th birthday. We arrived about 20 minutes early and were greeted by Karen (riding Jack) who gave us the rundown on paperwork and where she would greet us to get on our horses. My daughter rode on Penny who (from other reviews) is the perfect horse for kids. I was on Kiwi who was out for the 1st time of the day on our 6pm ride and she was gassed up and ready to run. Unfortunately for her, this wasn't that kind of ride. Kathy joined us on her horse Regan (not to be confused with Lincoln) and we set off on our adventure. Jade our guide was great! She was friendly and engaging with our family. Our first adventure horseback riding as a family and it was definitely worth the drive over from Dana Point where we were vacationing. Definitely bring carrots!! Our ride was in early Dec. 2025. There was 5 of us women riding, (my Birthday present from my sister) 2 of us over 60, 1 in her 40's and 2 in there 20's. The ride (present) was all pre-paid by my Brother in Law (not wanting to have any monies for us ladies to deal with) he included a $15 tip from each of us 5 gals, however, the trail lady, Karen pointed out (in front of everyone) that the owners took monies off the top so as to seem like we hadn't paid enough money as a tip, very embarrassing for my sister, so she added an additional $40 cash (completely overpaying at this point!) so unprofessional and unnecessary, we all felt embarrassed for my sister. So, to say the least, it was a very uncomfortable start to any event. As for the ride, it seemed to go quick, it was supposed to be 75 mins but I don't think our ride lasted that long... but because of how we were treated I would not recommend this place, I'd shop around for a place that values their customers. Sincerely a dissatisfied customer. :( read more

My 11 year old, 8 year old and I booked a 75 minute 5pm ride and we LOVED it. Bre, our guide, was very friendly. We all agree that we would book again. Next time we are booking the 90 minute ride! Our horses were suited perfectly to our personalities and they made the ride so fun due to their unique quirks :) The ride through the nature preserve was peaceful. Susie made my ride with my best friend, perfect in every way! From my very first contact, she was willing to work with me on special requests. This was Mother's Day weekend and I requested a private ride and one longer than those advertised. Although that's one of her busiest weekends, she made it work. The ranch was beautiful and the horses were very well taken care of. I own horses and was very pleased to be matched perfectly for my skill level. She takes everyone's experience very seriously when choosing your mount so be sure to let her know what your comfort level is! I've reached out twice to this establishment to do horse back riding lessons and haven't heard back. I called about three different times and still no answer. Their website shows their availability but you can't even book online, you have to call them. I'm my fourth phone call she asked me to text her, so naturally I did. And I haven't gotten a text back. Super ranch with gorgeous horses and nice staff... my 3 year old daughter did the Pony Ride today, and it was the best one we've ever done - she got to ride one-on-one with Susie, and even got to feed the ponies fresh carrots, as well as brush their hair after. Soraya on the staff is the kindest person I've ever met she sure took her time to make my son feel comfortable with not only herself, but introduced him to each and every animal on the ranch on a slower day. I personally love trail riding there as well and highly recommend it to everyone of every skill level. They're more than accommodating to beginners as well, as I've brought friends who had never been on a horse and they left very happy with their first experience! Susie the owner is really welcoming as well, she accommodated my same-day/ last minute bookings for my son so swiftly! My daughter turned 5. I have two little girls who love horses and I would love for us to go on a horse ride for each of our birthdays every year. We stayed at Morning Song Farm the night before, near Fallbrook. It was relatively cool out and the kids were happy. Susie Q Ranch was ready for us, the horses were gentle and affectionate. There were goats. It was clean and the animals were happy. They loved humans. We took a long ride through the hillside. There were water holders on the saddle for us to sip on throughout the ride. Also, my back has been killing me lately and, on my horse, my back felt so much better. Affordable, clean, animals are happy and healthy. They also exercised safe practices with my little people. Tried horseback riding for the first time with my boyfriend and was extremely nervous to get started. When we first walked to the office, three sheep approached us to say hi. The cutest welcoming committee! Lauren got us our liability paperwork and set us up on our horses pretty quick. I was so scared of balancing, but she helped me and my boyfriend adjust on our horses. I had Penny and he had Blackjack. We went up the trail where we had to cross the street, but it was smooth. I was really nervous about us doing some inclines and declines on the trail, but Lauren gave us some great tips on riding. Doing it at around 5:30 was great because of the beautiful sunset and cool breeze. I definitely recommend a light layer and some sunglasses, though. It was my first time riding, and Penny would sometimes be on the edge of the trails so my legs would hit the tall grass. That may have been more of an issue with me being a novice at steering, though! Overall, it was a great experience, and I think I'd like to try it again! My only "complaint" is that I wish I had more pictures, but I was so nervous to pull out a camera for that. I'm hoping we get emailed some photos that Lauren snagged. I definitely recommend, especially for new riders that want to know what the experience is like!! read more
