I wanted to treat my husband to a fun birthday weekend getaway, and after a ton of research I settled on the 5-star Vine House Bed and Breakfast. Since no birthday celebration in wine country would be complete without a wine tour, I reached out to one of their recommended wine tour companies, Tour del Vino. We've done group wine tours before and while large groups can be fun, this time we wanted something private and a little more pampered, and that's exactly what we got. From the very first contact, Sue was amazing. While I had pinpointed a few wineries we were interested in visiting, she asked thoughtful questions to make sure she could create the exact experience we were looking for. She then took care of everything, essentially acting as our personal coordinator for the day. Sue arrived promptly at the bed and breakfast in a luxurious Denali stocked with bottled water, and our day began. Our first winery was Danza del Sol, where we enjoyed a private patio tasting with our own sommelier. Granted, it was early in the day and still early in the year, but I actually highly recommend that timing (the off-season) if you truly want to learn about wine. We were able to ask questions and learn so much. As we enjoyed a special food and wine pairing that Sue had arranged, overlooking the vineyard, we toasted to what was already shaping up to be a perfect day. Our next stop was Altisima, where Sue had arranged a beautiful lunch with a stunning view. We tasted five wines during lunch and ran a little behind schedule for our next stop, but that was no problem at all, Sue simply called ahead and took care of everything. On the drive between wineries, the conversation flowed easily and Sue shared interesting background about the area, which made the experience even more enjoyable. Our final stop was Doffo, where we explored part of the "Motodoffo Collection" (vintage motorcycles and memorabilia) before settling onto a quiet patio as the sommelier brought out our tastings. It was the perfect ending to the day. At each winery, Sue took photos for us, guided us through the property, and introduced us to our hosts. It was obvious she had wonderful relationships with everyone involved. It was also clear she had told each winery that we were celebrating my husband's birthday, because at every stop he received a special treat: sparkling wine, churros, and even an extra taste of port. Sue drove us back to the bed and breakfast and told me to text her if we needed any recommendations during the rest of our stay. And I did! The next evening we wanted to go out for dinner, but many places close early in the area. Sue texted me three restaurant recommendations; but she didn't just send the names, she sent the menus for each one. One of my favorite quotes is, "Go the extra mile, it's never crowded." I planned a last minute wine tasting for mine and my husband's wedding anniversary. I found Tour del Vino on Yelp and inquired in the middle of the night. Sue responded by the next morning and was so helpful. She curated a tour specific to our needs. We're novice wine drinkers and only had a few hours to spare, so we booked the minimum 4hours and were able to squeeze in 3 wineries. I also informed Sue that my husband is more of a beer drinker and she selected a winery that had a beer tasting option. On the morning of our tour, we were fortunate enough to have Sue as our driver! She picked us up promptly at the agreed time in a fully loaded blacked out Denali. Our tour started at Danza del Sol Winery. We basically had the winery to ourselves upon arrival. There was a sommelier/guide ready and waiting with our first tasting. We immediately began our walking tour of the property and vineyard and were even able to meet the wine maker, who happened to be the youngest wine maker in Temecula! We ended that tour with a quick small bites food pairing. Throughout our tour, our glasses were constantly refilled and we were never empty. Our 2nd stop was The Cave Distillery. We chose the lunch option and had a private table among barrels of wine in the coolest giant cave. We only had an hour, but since we pre-ordered lunch, the appetizer was waiting along with a tiered 5 wine tasting and a sheet explaining each wine. It was at this point that I thought the carbs I ordered for lunch were going to save me from getting drunk, but unfortunately that was not the case for me! I ordered the Charcuterie board to start. It was beautiful, plentiful and tasty! We devoured it. I also ordered the pepperoni hot bread and the cave club. We finished off our lunch with a choc lava cake given to us for our anniversary. Our 3rd stop was Akash. Since I had my fair share of wine, I opted for water. To be fair, I am a new mom and haven't had much more than a few cocktails in the last 2 years. So my husband took my tasting and had 2 beers instead of his beer tasting. There was a lobster food truck on site that day, we ordered some lobster bisque. Sue was prompt, knowledgeable and friendly. She took such great care of us. She would walk us up to each winery and pass us off to our tours and then have the car cooled down before we headed to our next destination. 5 stars for customer service! We booked a wine tour for a bachelorette weekend. Sue is the event coordinator and she was wonderful from the beginning. She answered all of my questions so quickly and attentively, and was very patient with my requests/changes. This was also one of the only tour companies that was willing to pickup and drop-off from San Diego. They have a huge list of wineries to choose from, which Sue will help you pick out based on your party's age group and interests. Pickup and drop-off process was seamless and our drivers Bjørn and Janann were so good to us! They had water and snacks for our group during our hour-long ride ride to Temecula, and also provided cold waters for our group when we needed them during our wine tours. They were the true MVPs of our experience, being our personal photographers and even stopping by the restroom for us mid-road trip. Our first winery was Akash, which was probably my favorite as far as scenery and customer service - very generous wine pours, and options to sub your wine tasting for a beer. We had our cute picnic setup here, which was nice but I might opt out in the future as our setup was a bit isolated from the scenery and rest of the winery. Our sandwiches were really yummy though! Our second winery was Avensole, which was very busy and took a bit to get our drinks, but also a good time. They set us up in the private wine tasting area inside (with AC) which we greatly appreciated because it was over 100 degrees in Temecula that day. Wine flights were stacked (looked very cool for pictures!) and they had some refreshing cocktails. The lavender wine cocktail was our favorite that we could sub our tasting for. They also had a nice selection of food, so if I had to redo our wine tour I would probably order lunch at this location instead of picnic at the first location. Our last winery Robert Renzoni, which was probably my least favorite in terms of service. They told us we had to stay at the bar or else we would lose our tasting cards, so there were no places for us to sit down at this location. All in all we had a great day in Temecula! Sue was so incredible!! She was nothing but patient and sweet, and was there with us every step of the way. We had our initial call, and she really listened & took notes about how we wanted our day to unfold. She also checked our wine preferences and made sure that the winery selections reflected that. It was no surprise that all the wineries Sue picked for us were amazing. Additionally, the servers at each location took exceptional care of us due to Sue's personal relationships with them. This truly set the experience apart from simply driving up to each winery on our own. We were equally impressed by the VIP treatment and luxury of the black car experience. We were lucky enough to also have Sue as our private driver. She showed up early at our pickup location so we could spend more time at each winery. The car itself was luxurious and squeaky clean, equipped with an ice chest and bottles of cold water. It just goes to show how thoughtful they truly are! She was super delightful to chat with, really knowledgeable, and shared so much about the area during the drive. Sue, the owner was informative and helped me thru the whole process. She was sweet and made changes for me when things did not go as planned. The service we chose was 3 wine tours in a private vehicle for 5 hours for $145pp. Each wine tour location we stopped at, we were treated with 5-6 wine tastings of 1oz of wine in each tasting. However, some were more and some were less. Her company partnered with an array of different vineyards, but we had the option to choose any that we might be interested in. The services also included being picked up and dropped off at our desired location in the area. When we told her we wanted to grab brunch from a location, she was able to pre-order our meals and have them hot and ready by the time we were seated. Byorn, our tour guide and driver was very pleasant as well. He was really knowledgeable and made us feel comfortable throughout our experience. He even always offered to take our photos and gave us enough time to enjoy each place while staying on schedule. We found that with Tour Del Vino not only do they give you five star service, but they are very kind people who really care about you having the best experience possible. All I had to do was tell them where we wanted to go and they set all the appointments/ reservations up for us. They picked us up at our property in a sparkling clean big beautiful black SUV. Rich was our driver and he opened all the doors for us, made sure we were all good, even had bottled waters available in the car for us. Our daughter who lives out of state for college turned 21 -- she had taken a wine course at school and wanted to do a wine tour with the family when she was back for the holidays. Our guide there was Dana and she was very knowledgeable, explaining the wines we tasted, the history of the winery and the process, and getting us an extra taste right out of the barrel! Our second stop was LaFata. At first we were confused because we drove up to a beautiful house, turns out it was the LaFata's personal home! They have vines on their property and this was the first year they were bottling after starting to grow and make wine 5 years ago. We enjoyed some great wines, Vito and his wife were so personable and fun! They love creating experiences for people, and even name each wine a creative name to commemorate their own life experiences/memories. The property was beautiful, and one of the upgrades that Sue suggested (a charcuterie board) was a part of this experience as well. Our final stop was at Masia. Darell was the sommelier who guided us through our experience. So knowledgeable about wines, let us have input on which wines we would taste, and he was really cool and fun. Very enjoyable overall. To every winery we went she got off and introduced us to the host at the wineries. She would make sure to arrange every reservation for the next stop in advanced. From start to finish Sue and Rich provided excellent customer service and a very fun wine tasting experience! Sue made the whole experience so easy and her communication was excellent! She picked 3 perfect wineries that we loved. Last minute we thought we were going to switch the party to an Airbnb because Pechanga sold out and we couldn't get an additional room. Sue came through to save the day and reached out to her Airbnb contacts to help me arrange a new plan.
