    Chirashi

My mom and I randomly discovered this place. Parking is right in front of the building off of Waialae. We decided to do take out and check it out! Cute, small establishment. You can eat in or do take out. A nice lady took our order and I think she also made our order as well. Everything made to order and fresh. I got the Chirashi and my mom got the lunch special! Lunch special came with a miso soup. They also have a dinner special as well. Prices are reasonable for what you get. The only thing that's tough, was getting out of the parking. Hopefully someone is nice enough to let you back out. Definitely pleased with the amount of food and taste! So good! Hit the spot.

I ordered a garlic mayo chicken plate. It was a Teri chicken plate with furikake and garlic mayo. I'd go back. The plate was good.

Truly a hidden gem and I wish we had time to come back for a second time to eat her! I got a build your own poke with salmon and spicy mayo and omg! It was so fresh and so good! The best part was the portion was huge! My husband got the beef bowl and it was so flavorful! If you decide to stop by get their spamusbi too! It was the best we had on the island! It's located in a small shopping center. Parking is a little hard but doable. The service was just as good as the food. It was completely empty when we during dinner time. So if you don't like crowds here's the place to come!

Great poke in the Kaimuki area. This is a sushi + poke restaurant on Waialae Ave, located right next to Kaimuki's Boston pizza. Parking can be kind of difficult as there's just street parking around the area, but you can definitely find a spot a block or so away and walk to the shop. The shop itself has a small, colorful interior with some bar and indoor table seating, and the person helping me was friendly. I ordered the Hawaiʻian style ahi poke bowl, and it was prepared very quickly. It was a good portion for the price, and the poke was very, very fresh. As another reviewer noted, the sushi rice underneath was a tad al dente for my liking, but otherwise I didn't have much to complain about. The total price was around $19 with tax and service charge. I would definitely come back while I'm in the area to try the other flavors of their poke bowls.

pretty decent spot for some rolls! I got the dynamite maki roll! Pretty big pieces and good amount of spicy tuna on top, even came with miso soup I want to come back to try some of the other rolls and pieces of raw fish

This cozy spot is a must go to if you're in town, the dynamite roll was my favorite, very flavorful and refreshing. I do have to say that the rolls are big portions, they also come with miso soup. The spicy crunchy ahi is very flavorful and would get again. I would visit again when in town 10/10

Food was good. The spicy ahi wasn't as spicy but was still very tasty. The unagi sauce really does wonders to the Crunchy Spicy Ahi Bowl. Service was fast, and the worker was kind, The store could seat about 10-15 people, and it is very clean in there. Be mindful of the parking. It is quick difficulty getting in and out of the area due to the shop being located in the center of a busy road.

Brahhhhh so onolicious!!! I forgot what they used for the crunch in the spicy ahi bowl, but the mix of the flavors were good. Also loved the maki. These two items plus a beverage came out to a little over $40, but I'd say it's worth it for the quality of the food. The people working there were so kind as well and served the food to our table. Come here!

Seriously don't let that sign fool you yes sushi is their their priority which they seem to have set that bar pretty decently high for this cute tiny nook that's directly across Kaimuki Community Park on Waialae. When you walk in it's smells absolutely wonderful I felt immediately wanting to know what it is but my focus is not the usual sushi rolls and nigiri of course I'm still searching for that spicy ahi poke bowl and this one is definitely spicy...finally! Not flaming hot but does absolutely bites you back to remind you what's in that bowl and is definitely saucy. They don't seem to offer the option of rice or veggie substitutions and the rice is al dente because it's the same sushi rice as I was able to taste the light touch of vinegar...not my cup of tea as I prefer plain white rice with a touch of dashi which was disappointing. For anyone that wants to do a one stop it's not only sushi but they have garlic Mayo Teri chicken, Beef gyudon, tempura, even udon so there are many other options including their lunch special which is 6 pieces nigiri (Ahi, Salmon, Tamago, Tako, Ebi and ika) mini poke bowl or 4 pcs California maki and miso soup. Currently one of my favorite flavors for spicy poke and always loving to support local is very important to me, excited to try other items one day...thank you!!

    Spicy ahi and shrimp tempura

Online ordering was simple and fast. The food was ready pretty quickly. I ordered a dragon hand roll (unagi, crab avocado, and cucumber). It was really good. I would definitely get that again. I also tried the spicy ahi and shrimp tempura bowl. The spicy ahi wasn't too spicy. It had decent flavor, but I have had better. I did like that there is a layer of spinach under the ahi. That was a nice touch. The shrimp tempura was good. Overall, it was a good meal and I would come back to try other things.

    Spam handrolls for everyone!

We ordered the short ribs, lobster appetizer, hamachi crudo and lastly sashimi moriawase to finish food palate. Lukki lemon dessert was great way to end to night. Ordered the Milk tea bouquet cocktail while my better half had water ( either way the food coma knock him out cold the rest of the night lol). To be honest, it was difficult to determine which dish was the best because the staff kept quality there despite it being busy every night since they announce the closure. Sashimi moriawase, fish was so fresh, reminded me of my time spent in Hokkaido and Sapporo. Short ribs was soft and rich in flavor. If you have a chance to dine here before closing and got a reservation, definitely will have a lovely dining experience and your stomach will be full by end of the night.

I also don't understand how Yelp lists this place as a "good for kids". It's not. There wasn't a kids' menu and the dishes were not kid-palate friendly (other than maybe the basic California style hand roll). For example, the fried tofu had shredded ginger on top that permeated the dish and the karaage had a very mild (but present!) note of spice that reminded me a bit of buffalo sauce. Our waiter didn't even give us a heads up or point us in the direction of any dishes to consider for the kids (surely we must not be the only family who has brought kids to this restaurant). Lastly, I understand that the tempura brownie is popular but after tasting the "tempura" on the tofu I'm sure the brownie is just the star that shines through. The "tempura" on the tofu was gummy and not the authentic Japanese tempura we are used to (my husband, who is part Japanese, said to me "What is this?! Cornstarch?"). This is probably a great restaurant for drinks and hanging out with some adult friends but the rolls and appetizers were just not to our tastes. We were also sat outside when the restaurant was near empty inside and out (we went around 4PM) and it was a hot day (though the AC wasn't particularly cool enough for my preference inside either).

Although they have a clean and comfortable space for dining in, we regularly stop by after church or on the weekends for something to savor at our favorite park. Seriously, it's easy to enjoy their bowls, sushi sets, or bentos anytime and anyplace. We've got a passion for this place. Here's how this love affair started...I discovered Domo when a friend invited me for some sushi and sips at her place. I was amazed at the beautiful platter of sushi that accompanied our sake and wine. My friends are the best hosts! I devoured the bombs, nigiris and rolls (in between sips!). Everything was simply delicious! Fast forward a few months, I order a couple sushi sets to host a poolside, golden-hour birthday get together at my other friend's home. (I know, you want to be part of this squad, right?!). Anyway, using the online order system is a snap! My hubby went in to pick up the sushi and said they were slammed but our sushi sets were ready to go. This time we ordered some ikura because the hubby and my bestie are big fans. Both agree it was fresh and fantastic! And the garlic set with the flash-seared fish and a hint of mayo is a MUST-try. We also ordered a California roll for my friend's aunt who is not really a sushi fan. She delighted in several pieces and even enjoyed the nigiri from the garlic set. Total convert! After enjoying the platters and sets, we had to try the bentos and bowls. This time it's just us and the pup at the park. The bentos provide a great variety and comes with miso soup. The hubby really likes the shrimp tempura with ahi and salmon nigiri and ahi poke. It's a steal at less than $20. I'm a bowl girl myself and like the spicy tempura. The tempura is cooked crisp yet tender. The spicy ahi poke combined with the creamy crab salad and the crunchy ocean salad delights all my tastes buds. It's truly an adventure in finding the perfect bite--and there are so many in this bowl! I also love the seared salmon bowl. It is melt-in-your-mouth goodness. I add the fried onions for some texture. You know a place is top-notch when you can feel confident that anything off their menu will satisfy your cravings. Because this is a Yelp review, here are some helpful tips. For sushi platters, pre-order. The online system is simple to use. Service is fast and efficient if you're just walking in for a quick bite or to grab something to go. Parking has always been easy for us to find in the small lot in the complex where Domo is located. It's right next to Assagio's Kahala. But if you're worried about parking, I suggest ordering in advance and then just picking up. This works great during peak dining hours. If you want fresh, delicious sushi that is reasonably priced be like us and visit Domo Café. You will probably also be like us and want to go back to try more.
