I ordered a bake lobster roll, which was deep fried with tempura, we wont even mention that these ingredients don't go in a lobster roll... and I'm allergic to wheat so I wasn't able to eat the roll anyway, I get it, it's not your job to make sure i don't eat things I'm not supposed to, but if they had listed the ingredients i never would have . The baked lobster roll was stored right next to raw fish, this caused food poisoning. the first time we sat down and the service was half assed they were not rude but not nice either or attentive. All this wouldn't be that big a deal except this is the most I have ever paid for sushi and it sucked at best. go somewhere else. read more

Absolutely blown away by this place! We've had a lot of sushi in Arizona and this place takes the cake (sushi)! First of all, their happy hour is 2 PM to close-amazing! And their happy hour menu is stacked, not just with a few rolls, but a lot of options that are reasonably priced. The sushi was outstanding. This was my first time getting sushi here and I was impressed by how the host greeted many customers as if they're close buddies so I assume there are lots of loyal customers. The place itself was a little loud for my liking. I don't think you can have a nice conversation here, however the sushi itself was pretty good. This is the family's go-to sushi spot. If there is a wait, you will want to find the iPad to self-check in for the waiting list. The staff is friendly and the sushi top quality. They have a great happy hour menu and I highly recommend their gyoza and crap puffs. We order them every time. Their attention to keeping in-dining patrons safe and distanced during covid is very good. If you're looking for takeout, they have mastered it with strong plating in to-go containers and they are careful about keeping the hot and cold/raw separated. They have a small outdoor patio with only 2 or 3 tables. The only downfall, which isn't their fault, is the lack of parking during peak hours. I feel scammed, disappointed, disrespected & will not be returning. It's time to air things out: I've been a returning customer here for about 2.5 years. Unfortunately, within the past year I've noticed a visible decline in food quality & in overall service. My work colleagues & I used to order lunch takeout at least once a week here, but have completely stopped going since around January 2022 as we found better options elsewhere. $100 GIFT CARD DECLINED: In October 2021, my boss bought me a $100 gift card (picture attached) which we found a bit unconventional, but figured this must be the way they operate. The host didn't give him a formal gift card, but instead rang in a takeout order, named it "Meagan" & then physically wrote "gift card" on it. *You can clearly tell it wasn't an actual takeout order, as it doesn't show any charge for tax.* I decided to give this place another try since I had this gift card to use. My male friend & I went for happy hour & the total came to $82.43, so I was excited to have a free meal. The manager declined the gift card & said there is no way to prove that it was purchased as a gift card in their system. I understand this problem, however the gift card was purchased under a year ago & I don't feel I should be punished for the restaurants lack of systems / mistake. I believe the host wasn't trained to sell gift cards or they didn't have a system set up for gift cards at the time. Regardless of this, I have proof of a $100 non-taxed purchase for a "gift card" (written on receipt by the host at time of purchase) & I am now out $182.43 + 20% tip because of this mistake. POOR MANAGEMENT: I wasn't planning on airing out the following information as I never intend to harm anyone's job, however I figure I cannot be the only woman this has happened to: The main reason I stopped returning regularly this year is due to the new manager. Several times I have dined here with other girl friends & been approached in an inappropriate manner by the manager. He would make unwanted flirty comments & remain at our table talking to us much longer than we welcomed him. One time, he even insisted on putting his number in my cell phone so that he could take me on a date. It wasn't a situation I could've nicely declined without causing an uncomfortable confrontation, so I ended up blocking his number as I left the restaurant. As a young woman that tries to avoid uncomfortable male advances at all costs, this was enough to call it quits on returning..... until I had a gift card to use. I wonder if my gift card may have been more carefully considered if I had been in with a lady friend instead of a male friend that night. FOOD QUALITY: I would rate the food here a 6.5/10 overall. It is very mediocre & the fish quality used to be better but in recent years has gotten a bit disturbing at times. I hope this provides useful information for anyone that is considering dining here. One of my favorite spots in town to go to when I'm craving something fresh. I could even confidently say that it's some of the best sushi I've had and I've been to many sushi restaurants. They always have quick service & my food always comes out quick and so fresh. From sashimi, to nigiri, to any roll I've ordered, I am always impressed & satisfied. It is truly a hidden gem in phoenix. Even during COVID, my experience has been nothing but pleasant AND they even offered their happy hour to-go. Amazing, right? I was stationed in Japan and am kind of picky on sushi. Honestly, I am not trying to sound pretentious, but Sushiholic is as close to sushi in Japan as I have found. You can sit at the sushi bar and watch the chefs work, and they do put in the work. The presentation and tastes show their skill. My 4 year old always wants to try sushi everywhere we go and usually won't end up eating what we give her, but she ate a whole roll herself! Tuna roll has a good size chunk of Tuna, which is usually about half that elsewhere. On the picture menu, everything looked mouth watering. I would definitely recommend Sushiholic to anyone who wants some good sushi. Tuna roll and Hawaiian white tuna were top tier. read more

In Phoenix for the weekend for some NLCS games and we stopped in for dinner after a crushing Phillies loss. We were feeling a little down, but the tasty sushi we enjoyed provided some levity. Really clutch that they're open late and it was nice that it was located just a short ride back to our hotel. Love that they have basically an all-day HH sushi menu, which also included some of the specialty rolls. My husband and I ordered about 8 rolls to share, and all were delicious. I got the shrimp tempura, tootsie roll, miso soup, and seaweed salad, all for myself! I only got fried rolls, so I wasn't getting the full experience, but it was decent for this price point. I am sure there is much better around, but it is so cheap (all that for $20) and quick. The Tootsie roll was pretty boring, and the shrimp tempura barely had shrimp in it, but I had low expectations. I hate to say it but I think I'm falling out of love with Sushiholic. As weekly lunch customers, the last several times I'm been there I've left disappointed with the sushi quality, presentation and portions. Though the service has always been exceptional. On 2 occasions I ordered the Poke Salad as I have before. Presentation both times were sloppy and the fish was cut up into tiny pieces, more Octopus than anything, like they were just using up leftover scrapes. The 2 orders of salmon last visit looked like they came from different parts and were sliced with the grain which made it very chewy not to mention did not have any taste. The lunchrolls not made tight, sloppy, already falling apart visually even before you pick it up and inconsistently made on visits. The yellow tail lately has been watery and tasteless to the point I stopped ordering it. The uni has been tiny slivers not worth ordering even for the reasonable price it is. Don't know if the restaurant is cutting corners on quality and portions. Don't know whether we have been getting a new sushi chef in training... but it just hasn't been good as we have experience in the past which is why we were lunching here as regulars.
