Great place for AYCE sushi and kitchen dishes. High quality sushi and delicious kitchen items. Definitely recommend getting the chicken teriyaki and the yakitori. The sushi sashimi and the hand rolls were good and for the price you pay, expect to leave super full with money still in your pocket. This place is also BYOB so bring a bottle or two of whatever you like. The service was killer, always near our table in case we needed anything. The place was a bit small and we had a huge party of 19. They put us in the back by the kitchen and there was plenty of room for our big party. Will definitely come back again for the sushi and the great service.

Amazing restaurant. Service always isn't the best, sometimes we get cranky servers , but the food is always amazing. So worth it with the all-you-can-eat. You can try a variety of thing from appetizers to sushi. The tuna tartare, crazy girl sushi, scallops , shumai, and rock shrimp are a must try!

Idk what's with the bad reviews but honestly $33 all you can eat sushi was all mouth blessing and made fresh and the chicken teriyaki is a must. Fast food service and the staff was awesome af

Salmon Sashimi. Poorly cut and smaller than a French fry Sashimi.

I don't write reviews, ever, but I can't let others get sick. RUN AWAY! THIS PLACE IS HORRIBLE. Got FOOD POISONING. They should be shut down!! Let's begin with the APPETIZER: The food has no taste, the sauces were thick and all you could taste is salt. Also, I'm convinced they only had one type of sauce for everything. THE FISH: The shumai is tasteless and over fried. The sushi was old, smelled and was cut like some kind of meat. I've never had salmon sashimi that was Warm, so thin you could see through it, completely covered in fat and cut like a French Fry. I wouldn't even touch the other Sashimi, as it was old and looked like it was sitting out. The sushi was sloppy and looked like it was premade as it was warm. The food that was cooked in oil tasted off and I honestly have to think it has something to do with the Oil. FOOD POISONING: We left the food half way through. We could eat it as me and my husband started to feel sick after eating it for 20 minutes. It didn't sit right with both of us, and we were right. We both got food poisoning and were sick for over 24 hours. Please don't eat here. They deserve to be shut down or at the very least heavily inspected and correct the quality of food they are serving people.

Delicious and fresh sashimi, quick and friendly service! Part of 4 who came in Thursday night around 6:45pm, no wait. We enjoyed the all you can eat (AYCE) sushi and sashimi. My favorites are the red clam, white tuna (melt in your mouth!), squid, red snapper, and eel. We also enjoyed baked mussels, gyoza and shumai, and various other side dishes. For dessert, I loved the refreshing ginger ice cream and green tea ice cream flavors! The waitresses and waiters were attentive and refilled our tea and water, new menus frequently. I will say that their English is not great, so it's helpful that we spoke Chinese :-). Just be patient or speak more slowly if you are a customer who cannot speak Chinese! Restaurant ambiance is just okay, 3.5/4 stars. It's cozy but a little dim. Still cute. Overall I had a great time with my family and would definitely come back!

We went for a gathering and prebooked it. They gave us the back area which was fine. As soon we walked in the waitress was beyond rude and not helping us with sitting. She was just rude and pretty much pushed our table on us. We requested another waitress she was just rude. They gave us another waitress she was good. It's all about the first impression this woman ruined it! If you are not good with people don't waitress. The prices were reasonable and the food tasted good. I can't get over the sour impression that woman gave to our gathering. I will not return or recommend this restaurant due to the waitress's service when we first walked in. It's a shame food was good.

We ordered delivery from Sushi X for the first time. We had a few rolls and an order of Yaki Soba. Everything was fresh and tasty. The stir fry noodles were done just right...no soggy veggies and good seasoning. Delivery through Door Dash was prompt and courteous. We will order from Sushi X again

Sushi X is a solid place for decent all you can eat sushi and it's BYOB. They have a wide range of rolls and appetizers included in the AYCE price - which was $28.99/person for a Thursday night. I remembered to take pictures 1/2 way through the meal, so I didn't get a picture of the tiny spare ribs they served us or the kinda stale crab wontons. The sushi is always delicious, but I do feel they have started to skimp on some of the toppings. I remember the tobiko being more robust and was a little disappointed to see such a light offering on the one special roll. The place is tight and dimly lit. There's music playing loudly in the background. It's not the cleanest place, but I've never gotten sick from eating here. I'm sure there are nicer places you can go, but Sushi X is definitely our good ol standby.

Really good sushi place and for a decent price. The sushi was all you can eat and was around $32 a person. The service was really quick and great as well. I'd definitely go back again!

I am not the type of person to normally leave reviews on restaurants, but my experience here has…read morebeen so consistently good that I felt the need to. Blu Sushi is the perfect mix of deliciousness, affordability, and fantastic service. I've gone there for my lunch around three times these past two weeks and each time I've had a wonderful experience. Their lunch special is super affordable. You can get 2 rolls for the less than I spend for one at many of the other restaurants in Ridgewood. However, despite that, it honestly tastes the best out of many of the places I've gone to. Also, if you are up for spending more, they have a fantastic selection of appetizers and special rolls that you can try again (I recommend the dynamite shrimp). When I go, I normally get the 2 roll option from the lunch menu. Typically, I have the spicy salmon and the spicy tuna rolls when I order that. Regarding those rolls, they are first and foremost delicious. You can tell that fresh their fish is and how much time and dedication they put into their sushi with each bite. Furthermore, they are spicy--but not too spicy. When you have them you are able to enjoy every aspect of the roll without being completely overwhelmed by the spice. Additionally, they add something crunchy to the rolls which take them from just a tasty lunch to a full experience. Most importantly though, the service and ambiance is fantastic. Every time I've been there I've only been treated with kindness and consideration. They are very willing to talk with you about their dishes, share some interesting facts about it (like how they came up with the dynamite shrimp), and more. But the best part about it is that they remember you. That honestly meant a lot to me. I know that this whole review was a lot of me ranting, but I honestly mean it. If you are looking for a nice, quaint, delicious, affordable, and hospitable meal--Blu Sushi is the place for you.

THE FOOD ----------------…read more+ Fried Pork Gyoza - 6 pieces came lightly fried and were good. Definitely could have eaten 10 of these ... myself! + Nabe Yaki Udon Soup Noodle - Solid noodle soup. Lots of ingredients and the broth was just the right level of flavor. = Sushi Regular - Good sushi overall, but the rice was a litttttle too soft to the point that the sushi was falling apart. Fish was very fresh though and presentation was excellent. + Spicy Salmon, Spicy Yellowtail, Spicy Cooked White Fish - Shocked at how good the rolls actually were. There was only 1-2 layers of rice, at most, around the sushi and there was a lot of fish filling for the rolls. Fish was very fresh and delicious. Also, once again, presentation of the entree was excellent. THE SERVICE ------------------- + Friendly waitresses throughout the staff. + Food came out fairly quickly. THE SURROUNDINGS ------------------------------- + Not a huge restaurant, but spacious enough with a few tables for 4 and a few tables for 6. RANDOM OBSERVATIONS -------------------------------------- = Came in at around 5:45 PM on a summer Friday evening and it was busy already. We didn't have resys, but some groups did. Assuming they were able to squeeze us in before the dinner resy groups filed in because the restaurant was at capacity by the time we left at 7ish.

THE FOOD ----------------…read more+ Beef Gyoza - 5 crispy gyozas were full of meat and had very good flavor. Dipping sauce was light and perfect for the gyozas + Tonkotsu, Shio and Shoyu Ramens - Perfectly cooked thin straight noodle/ramen and all of the broths were all very, very flavorful, but yet not salty at all. Go figure??? We preferred the Shio and Shoyu chicken broths more than the Tonkotsu though. The marinated pork slices were huge and so tender in all of the ramens. Also, each ramen was topped with lots of scallions, onions and bamboo shoots, while the Tonkotsu also had wood ear mushrooms and the Shoyu had a sheet of dried seaweed. + Menu consisted of many other ramen bowls, traditional Japanese appetizers, fried chicken and donburi (rice bowls). THE SERVICE ------------------- + ONLY 1 waitress and she was on point with her service despite it being very busy. She was friendly, quick, came back to check on us and remembered every request we made. Major kudos to her for handling the evening so well. + Food arrived very quickly, literally within a few minutes of us ordering. THE SURROUNDINGS ------------------------------- + Small, quaint restaurant with about 6-8 tables, depending on group sizes. In addition, there are about 8 counter high chairs by the windows. + Private parking lot is large, but shared with other businesses/restaurants within the same strip. RANDOM OBSERVATIONS -------------------------------------- = Never seen the restaurant busy, but, SOMEHOW, on the October Friday evening that we visited, the restaurant was buzzzzing. Every table was occupied inside and even some of the counter seats! It was quite surprising considering we never saw people in here whenever we passed by. There were also multiple folks taking out to boot. CONCLUSION -------------------- + Ramen was super simple, but so good. The ONE waitress was fantastic and handled the evening like a pro despite the restaurant being at capacity. DEFINITELY will be back.

It was a year ago when we posted our last review of this place. Unfortunately the culture of…read morespotty service seems to remain embedded. It seems more prevalent with the male servers than the females. Our order was made very clear as we actually pointed out our choices. All this was written down in a paper notepad. My wife had a salad to start, and I hade the miso soup. I received my soup quickly, but once again no salad arrived for my wife. We had to remind our server of the ordered salad. He appeared totally confused, but the salad finally arrived after I was long finished with my soup. Then came the entree. My full entree came on time, nicely presented. After a couple of minutes it became uncomfortable obvious that my wife's dinner was not going to arrive. Sure enough we had to remind our waiter that my wife's order was missing. Again he was totally confused and brought over the menu for her to make a selection of her sushi roll. It was like they thought that I was the only one who came there to eat, and my wife was going to sit there and drink tea. The place was not that busy, and the two waiters had nothing to do but look at us. No refills on tea were offered, and we had to ask. No recommendation for dessert was made. The whole thing was like Deja vu all over again from last year. BTW, the place could use a couple of fresh coats of paint. It looks like no money was put into the place in 25 years.

THE GOOD ----------------…read more+ Solid sushi, nothing spectacular, but hits the spot. ++++ Sushi Regular fish was relatively fresh on the sushi pieces, 8 in total. It also came with a choice of a regular roll. ++++ Spicy Maki Combo, which consisted of any 3 spicy rolls, did not taste or look like spicy rolls. They just looked like regular rolls, but they were still decent. There were only 4 spicy rolls to choose from though, of which I chose the Spicy Tuna, Spicy Salmon and Spicy Yellowtail. ++++ Chicken Udon was surprisingly VERY good. Even though it was just a simple chicken udon, the chicken was quite flavorful and tender. Broth was your typical miso broth/soup. THE NOT SO GOOD ---------------------------- - Waiters can be a little bit more enthusiastic, but food arrived pretty quick. MIXED THOUGHTS --------------------------- = Nada. RANDOM OBSERVATIONS -------------------------------------- = Extremely busy on a Friday evening at 5:30 PM so make reservations! We were fortunate to have secured walk-in seats at the sushi bar since it was reserved for a party at 7:30 PM.

Your average, run of the mill Japanese/sushi restaurant…read more We came by on a hot Friday evening at around 6 PM and, unlike some of the more popular restaurants in Ridgewood, this restaurant was pretty much empty when we walked in. However, it did get pretty busy around 7 PM, but there were still available seats. For a restaurant in this area, it was pretty big with quite a few tables inside. The menu was very typical of any local neighborhood Japanese restaurant - Japanese soups and salads, appetizers, entrees like teriyaki dishes, noodles/udons, rice entrees and lots of different sushi and sushi rolls. Nothing on the menu will blow you away or be surprising, but it'll satisfy your Japanese food craving if that's what you're seeking. Our family ordered Edamame and Fried Gyoza to start and both were good. The Gyoza was actually better than I anticipated, arriving at our table hot and crispy. For entrees, we ordered our kids the Salmon Teriyaki, which was solid. There was a lot of teriyaki sauce on the salmon and the salmon was not overly cooked or dry, so that was a plus. I ordered 3 regular sushi rolls - Spicy Crab, Spicy Yellowtail and Spicy Salmon - and all were good and pretty much what I expected. My wife ordered the Sushi Regular, which came with 8 pieces of sushi and a California Roll. Once again, all good. Nothing that was off about any of it. We also ordered a Nabeyaki Udon, but I didn't get to try any of it, however, our kids ate a lot of it, which was a good sign that it was good. Like I said, there was nothing that was bad here and everything was good, but nothing is spectacular either. If you're just seeking Japanese food/sushi and need to get your fix on, the food at Kumo will hit that spot.

Update to my earlier review from 2024…read more We dined in for the first time on a spring Friday evening at around 6 PM and we were pretty much were the only ones dining inside for a majority of our meal. However, they were plenty busy with takeout orders. Service was quick as the waiter took our order down and our food was out within MINUTES! I ordered the Shoyu Ramen, which was a pretty good ramen considering they weren't a restaurant that specialized in ramen. The ramen was very tasty and like any other I've ordered from legit ramen restaurants. My wife ordered a custom poke bowl, which we've ordered many times before for pickup. The bowl was MASSSIVE and seemingly much bigger than what they typically give for takeout orders, although their takeout poke bowls are very generous too. For our kids, we ordered the House Special Fried Rice, which came with eggs and Chinese sausage. It was a solid fried rice and we were quite surprised it came with Chinese sausage because it's an ingredient we rarely see used for fried rice entrees at restaurants. Overall, our dining experience here was good and we loved that it was nice and quiet. It never got super busy, but a few parties did come in after us. The bread and butter of their business is definitely takeout though.
