Great place for AYCE sushi and kitchen dishes. High quality sushi and delicious kitchen items. Definitely recommend getting the chicken teriyaki and the yakitori. The sushi sashimi and the hand rolls were good and for the price you pay, expect to leave super full with money still in your pocket. This place is also BYOB so bring a bottle or two of whatever you like. The service was killer, always near our table in case we needed anything. The place was a bit small and we had a huge party of 19. They put us in the back by the kitchen and there was plenty of room for our big party. Will definitely come back again for the sushi and the great service.

Idk what's with the bad reviews but honestly $33 all you can eat sushi was all mouth blessing and made fresh and the chicken teriyaki is a must. Fast food service and the staff was awesome af

Amazing restaurant. Service always isn't the best, sometimes we get cranky servers , but the food is always amazing. So worth it with the all-you-can-eat. You can try a variety of thing from appetizers to sushi. The tuna tartare, crazy girl sushi, scallops , shumai, and rock shrimp are a must try!

Salmon Sashimi. Poorly cut and smaller than a French fry Sashimi.

I don't write reviews, ever, but I can't let others get sick. RUN AWAY! THIS PLACE IS HORRIBLE. Got FOOD POISONING. They should be shut down!! Let's begin with the APPETIZER: The food has no taste, the sauces were thick and all you could taste is salt. Also, I'm convinced they only had one type of sauce for everything. THE FISH: The shumai is tasteless and over fried. The sushi was old, smelled and was cut like some kind of meat. I've never had salmon sashimi that was Warm, so thin you could see through it, completely covered in fat and cut like a French Fry. I wouldn't even touch the other Sashimi, as it was old and looked like it was sitting out. The sushi was sloppy and looked like it was premade as it was warm. The food that was cooked in oil tasted off and I honestly have to think it has something to do with the Oil. FOOD POISONING: We left the food half way through. We could eat it as me and my husband started to feel sick after eating it for 20 minutes. It didn't sit right with both of us, and we were right. We both got food poisoning and were sick for over 24 hours. Please don't eat here. They deserve to be shut down or at the very least heavily inspected and correct the quality of food they are serving people.

Delicious and fresh sashimi, quick and friendly service! Part of 4 who came in Thursday night around 6:45pm, no wait. We enjoyed the all you can eat (AYCE) sushi and sashimi. My favorites are the red clam, white tuna (melt in your mouth!), squid, red snapper, and eel. We also enjoyed baked mussels, gyoza and shumai, and various other side dishes. For dessert, I loved the refreshing ginger ice cream and green tea ice cream flavors! The waitresses and waiters were attentive and refilled our tea and water, new menus frequently. I will say that their English is not great, so it's helpful that we spoke Chinese :-). Just be patient or speak more slowly if you are a customer who cannot speak Chinese! Restaurant ambiance is just okay, 3.5/4 stars. It's cozy but a little dim. Still cute. Overall I had a great time with my family and would definitely come back!

We went for a gathering and prebooked it. They gave us the back area which was fine. As soon we walked in the waitress was beyond rude and not helping us with sitting. She was just rude and pretty much pushed our table on us. We requested another waitress she was just rude. They gave us another waitress she was good. It's all about the first impression this woman ruined it! If you are not good with people don't waitress. The prices were reasonable and the food tasted good. I can't get over the sour impression that woman gave to our gathering. I will not return or recommend this restaurant due to the waitress's service when we first walked in. It's a shame food was good.

Sushi X is a solid place for decent all you can eat sushi and it's BYOB. They have a wide range of rolls and appetizers included in the AYCE price - which was $28.99/person for a Thursday night. I remembered to take pictures 1/2 way through the meal, so I didn't get a picture of the tiny spare ribs they served us or the kinda stale crab wontons. The sushi is always delicious, but I do feel they have started to skimp on some of the toppings. I remember the tobiko being more robust and was a little disappointed to see such a light offering on the one special roll. The place is tight and dimly lit. There's music playing loudly in the background. It's not the cleanest place, but I've never gotten sick from eating here. I'm sure there are nicer places you can go, but Sushi X is definitely our good ol standby.

We ordered delivery from Sushi X for the first time. We had a few rolls and an order of Yaki Soba. Everything was fresh and tasty. The stir fry noodles were done just right...no soggy veggies and good seasoning. Delivery through Door Dash was prompt and courteous. We will order from Sushi X again

Highly recommend putting in a reservation beforehand and coming at around 5-6 during the weekend. After that time it gets super booked. Staff is short so you'll be waiting around a lot. Small, cute place though. Went for all you can eat with a party of 5, we paid around $36 each. Sushi was nothing extraordinary, however, they do have a variety of quirky rolls! My friends and I really enjoyed trying the Mango Roll, this unique combo was pretty good. Overall, I would give it three stars. Cute place but nothing special and staff seemed overworked.

Really good sushi place and for a decent price. The sushi was all you can eat and was around $32 a person. The service was really quick and great as well. I'd definitely go back again!

If you're worried about all you can eat sushi, don't be worried coming here. And it's not just basic sushi...its specialty rolls, sides, hot food, and even dessert! Oh and they have a special deal if it's your birthday...free meal if you have a party of 4+!! And they give you a candle and put on a happy birthday song and come out to you with it - we were dying laughing. Pretty good deal to me. I definitely over ate when I came here...my group kind of over did it. We had a bunch of special rolls, sushi, sashimi, tempuras, udon soups, bbq ribs, kani salad, seaweed salad, crab rangoon, green tea ice cream, fried banana...the menu is pretty extensive. Food comes out as it is ready. Hot food takes longer. Service is good - they are very attentive in refilling waters and taking plates.

This is seriously a hole in the wall, but also a diamond in the rough. They certainly don't splurge on the decor, and they really need to fix their door that slams every damn time! But I can never say anything bad about all-you-can-eat sushi. The price is reasonable ($25 on weekdays and $28 on weekends), but especially during COVID-19, so many all-you-can-eat restaurants have not been running the same. The sushi here is not the freshest quality and you can definitely skip some appetizer items, but it was overall a solid filling meal. Lots of soybean paper and mango options (my random go to's). There's free ice cream too that's not shown on the menu! Ridgewood has metered street parking, so bring your quarters!

THE GOOD ----------------…read more+ Solid sushi, nothing spectacular, but hits the spot. ++++ Sushi Regular fish was relatively fresh on the sushi pieces, 8 in total. It also came with a choice of a regular roll. ++++ Spicy Maki Combo, which consisted of any 3 spicy rolls, did not taste or look like spicy rolls. They just looked like regular rolls, but they were still decent. There were only 4 spicy rolls to choose from though, of which I chose the Spicy Tuna, Spicy Salmon and Spicy Yellowtail. ++++ Chicken Udon was surprisingly VERY good. Even though it was just a simple chicken udon, the chicken was quite flavorful and tender. Broth was your typical miso broth/soup. THE NOT SO GOOD ---------------------------- - Waiters can be a little bit more enthusiastic, but food arrived pretty quick. MIXED THOUGHTS --------------------------- = Nada. Omakase, a Japanese term that translates to "I'll leave it up to the chef," is meant to be a…read moreshowcase of seasonal specialties. Yet in many Japanese restaurants, I've found that no matter when I revisit and order their omakase, the dishes, from appetizers to sushi and sashimi, all remain the same. Thankfully, this was not the case at Shumi. Here, the chefs truly strive to create edible masterpieces. I had the pleasure of enjoying innovative appetizers along with nigiri that simply melted in my mouth. Shumi's omakase was once priced at $150 per person, but in a thoughtful move to accommodate their customers, they adjusted it to $95 per person without compromising the quality of their fish. I will note that the pieces are smaller, but they still deliver the freshest taste. The staff is exceptionally gracious, dedicated to ensuring a wonderful dining experience. They are quick to replenish your tea or fill your glass as soon as it's half empty. I did, however, find the restaurant a bit chilly, and the music was a little too loud, making it difficult to hear the staff as they described each type of fish. For those who followed Master Chef Kunihiko "Ike" Aikasa from the original Shumi in Somerville, he sold that business before opening this new location in Ridgewood, which has been open since 2017. Here, he has partnered with owner David Seo. The aesthetic of the new restaurant remains clean and bright. In a competitive town like Ridgewood, where locals expect restaurants to bring their A-game, Shumi has obviously stood the test of time. I wish them many more years of excellence. Rating scale: Service: 5/5 Ambiance: 4/5 Cleanliness: 4.5/5 Food: 5/5 Overall: I'd give it 4.5 stars, but I rounded it up to 5 stars.

Speaking of the food, let's get into it. Mango Avocado Roll: Refreshing and Delicious. This was a great appetizer to my poke bowl. Oasis Poke Bowl: This was deliciously refreshing as well, however it doesn't come with any sauce. I asked for a side of teriyaki which made everything better; elevated the entire bowl. Surf N Turf: I will order this moving forward as my go-to roll. The beef was cooked to perfection and paired perfectly with the salmon. This roll itself filled me up, I thought I was going to order something else but I was done after that. Salmon and Shrimp Teriyaki: My partner gets this each time and I am always so excited to throw my fork into his plate. The teriyaki sauce here is so tasty, I want to put it on everything! The salmon and shrimp are also cooked super well, no chewiness here. Great amount of crisp on the salmon, the way it slides onto the fork is beautiful to watch. Vegetable Gyoza: The star of the show!! Best appetizer they have truly. I was so sad when there was no more. But thankful to have been able to experience such a great starter. Sweet Potato Roll: (Not pictured) The roll was ok, I liked it but felt like it was missing something. Maybe I would have liked it if it was Korean sweet potatoes. I won't order again because the menu is so extensive I can't limit myself to something I thought was ok. (4/5) Overall, Shokudo is a fantastic place to eat. It's truly an experience. The music is amazing and not overbearing, the ambiance is beautiful and there's multiple conversation pieces. What I love about looking at the items in the restaurant is how they go from traditional to contemporary. The servers were the sweetest, they all were extremely hospitable.
