We love us a good AYCE sashimi/sushi restaurant and No.1 Sushi mostly hit the mark. Our family of 4 came by for a Thursday dinner (before Good Friday) at around 6pm and the restaurant was pretty quiet as only a few tables were occupied. Before we arrived, we already knew what our objective was when we arrived - AYCE! No need to review the regular menu, just straight to the AYCE fill in sheets! When it came down to actually ordering off of the AYCE menu, the menu sheet was very, very typical of all of the AYCE sashimi/sushi restaurants we had been to over the years - salads/appetizers/soups/noodles on one menu and sashimi/sushi/rolls on the other - and order AS MUCH AS YOU LIKE! (as long as you can put it down) As for the food? Solid. We have to admit it wasn't the freshest AYCE sashimi/sushi we ever had, but it was still decent. We pretty much ordered a ridiculous number of pieces of every single sashimi they offered, plus some salads and appetizers to wet our beaks before the actual gorging of sashimi/sushi. However, and this will shock you, the BEST part of our meal was the dessert! YES, dessert at the AYCE sushi restaurant. Of course, they had red bean and green tea ice cream, BUT they also served fried bananas and fried oreos, which were amazeballs with the ice cream. As of March 2024, it's $32.99 per adult on weekends, which is a bit on the steep side, but if you have kids 3 and under, they are free. Service was good at first when the restaurant was empty, but when they got busy, it came to an absolute crawl because of the lack of waitresses, so put your AYCE orders in early! Delivery Order arrived missing an Item. I called and they asked me to take a picture of the items. I sent them the picture and after looking at the picture they said they would make the missing item. They told me I would have to come pick it up. That is not acceptable. They delivered it wrong and they should deliver the missing item. The food I did get was not very good anyway. read more

So I'm only in town visiting but a friend from many years ago invited me to meet him here. Says he enjoys coming here to do the all you can eat sushi when he has new people to take. So I went! Plenty of parking out in the parking lot on a Thursday evening. It's not a private lot and shared by others but it was easy to find a spot. They were pretty busy around 7:00 p.m. but we got seated a couple minutes later. You fill out the form of what you want and many appetizers and other things are included with the all you can eat. I think soft drinks are also included. Anyway so we filled it out and sent in an order. We wish we would have got some appetizers because it took a really long time for us to get our sushi. We had an assortment of rolls and they were a little bit smaller. So we immediately ordered up another batch. I was glad they took the order even though we were still eating our current order. Overall everything was pretty good minus the size. Tasted fresh enough. When we said we were ready to leave, the waitress reminded us that dessert was included so we got some of that. In the end, it was a great place! Good ambience and good to take friends to. Lots of groups of people there. I would definitely return but I feel like the rolls could be a little bit bigger and they probably need to warn people that it could take a while to get your food. read more

This is probably my favorite all you can eat sushi place in the area. They serve high quality rolls and the sashimi is always very fresh. This would be 5-stars for the food but the service is a little spotty. I have been to this restaurant over 20 times at this point and majority of the time the service is subpar. This mostly includes missing items that were ordered or forgetting to bring out kitchen items. I think they have very high quality sushi rolls but not being able to count on service is a let down so I often do not recommend this place to others with the worry that their experience will be bad considering the service. The dining area is clean and has a lot of seating so there is hardly ever a long wait! I do love the sushi here but the spotty service prevents me from coming here more often. read more

I can't believe I just found this place when I live so close to it. The restaurant offers all you can eat sushi or individual rolls/dishes. Service was great, waitresses were very attentive and kept our glasses with water. Food was tasty and the space is very nice. Came here for lunch on a weekend as soon as they opened and we were the only group there. With that being said, I was surprised at how slow the service was. We did the AYCE option, so even though the portions were small, we continued ordering. We started ordering while we were still eating because we realized how slow the service was. It seemed like it took forever for the server to come around and clear the empty plates and offer another round of drinks. Aside from the slow service, we really enjoyed the food and how fresh the sushi tasted. I'm always weary of trying a new sushi spot, especially when I don't know the quality of the fish they use. Came here for all you can eat sushi and was not disappointed! The rolls are a bit small, but honestly more ideal since you can order as much as you want. The fish tasted fresh. I give a ton of credit to the wait staff as the restaurant was packed but they were constantly moving to serve everyone. For AYCE (All You Can Eat), this is a pretty good sushi place that is BYOB. I've came here two other times, and both times the service was a little slow. However, I understand they were short on staff, so know that their service can be delayed at times. Regardless, the waitresses were nice and accommodating as possible. In terms of food, I love the variety of special rolls they have as well entrees and desserts (Fried Oreos)!!! The fried Oreos are not the usual but they were certainly still delicious (flaky/tempura style fried). I enjoyed the overall layout of the place and it had a nice ambiance. Has a couple of TVs hanging, so you can watch sports while eating as well. We made a last minute family dinner plan to get AYCE sushi and they accommodated our party of 7 easily on a Sunday night. Like other AYCE places they give you a paper to mark off what you want to order. I don't have a picture of the sheet, but apart from sushi there were standard appetizers like tempura, udon soup, miso soup. There were also other entrees like hibachi or teriyaki style meat. Our group ordered a lot and everything came out fairly quickly. The staff also answered all questions about the menu and selections patiently and quickly. We got tempura which had really large shrimp pieces which I my opinion had a lot of breading, but it was better than standard AYCE places. The Kani salad was my favorite salad out of their selection. I also got hibachi chicken, beef, and vegetable which was good, but they come out in small one serving dishes. Moving onto the sushi. The quality was actually pretty good for an AYCE spot. The salmon nigiri and sashimi were my favorite, but the special rolls are really good too. For dessert there's ice cream, fried Oreos and fried banana. All of them were really good. It was 30 dollars per person, which honestly was not bad for everything we got. Overall food isn't really a huge WOW so delicious, but it's better than other AYCE sushi quality. The decor and ambiance in the restaurant was honestly better than other AYCE places. It felt like a city sushi bar and the music playlist is good. They give you to sheets, one with sushi orders and the other with kitchen orders. The sushi was really good, my favorites were Manhattan roll and Winter roll. In honor of #thankyouthursday, I'm writing a review for my newest fave all you can eat sushi spot! No. 1 Sushi is located at a shopping center in Midland Park and I will say there is always plenty of parking. I have eaten here a few times and it does not disappoint at all. They do have a sit down menu but you def go there for the AYCE option! They provide you with 2 menus-- one kitchen menu and one sushi menu and then you select what items you want to order. There's a good variety of small appetizers, salads, small hibachi plates, and tempura plates. The sushi menu has sashimi by the piece, hand rolls, and some delicious specialty rolls. We started with some salads and my fave the crispy calamari. The calamari is perfectly fried and tossed in a chili sauce and served on a bed of fried onions. Sooo good! I also tried the hibachi noodles and it was very flavorful! Our sushi came out a little after. Omg it was so fresh! My sister enjoys the sashimi and I prefer a lot of the cooked rolls and specialty rolls. The wait staff are very attentive and come back with menus to order more food. You definitely get your moneys worth. Of course there is always room for dessert, the fried Oreos and fried bananas are excellent and the green tea ice cream is really good and not too sweet. Hidden treasure tucked away in a shopping center in a small town called Midland Park. I've been here fit their grand opening and I am pleased to say that they have stayed consistent. I ordered the Sushi lunch special. You receive sushi, California roll, salad and a miso soup. Let me just breeze over the salad. It's basically a container of iceberg lettuce with that awesome dressing on top. Once the dressing is gone, the rest of the lettuce gets pushed to the side. We're not here for their salad anyway. Miso soup hit the spot. Very tasty and gets the palate ready for the main event. Sushi was fresh and excellently prepared. Taste and texture couldn't have been anymore on point. I still have the wasabi blowing flames out of my nose but I don't care... There's nothing like it. Put a nice slice of ginger on there and this was the perfect lunch. Price was right there as well. For less than the fast food joint next door, you got a filling lunch and don't feel bogged down when done. If you are eating in, the inside has plenty of seating and looks just so comfy.
