I have been eating at Sushi Time since they first opened. The sushi is amazing. However, they did open two small tables for indoor dining. They never should have done this. The super cute little restaurant is now ugly inside, dysfunctional looking, and looked dirty. The two girls who were the servers looked like they just rolled out of bed and went straight to work with what they were sleeping in. I Understand they are young but look presentable. Shame on the owner for allowing that. The food is amazing but the inside dining should remain closed completely or open it up fully. They are doing it all wrong. I felt unwanted in there. They served my sushi in to go containers. Why- that is so wasteful! I will not go back nor will I order again until they figure it out. Open the restaurant up fully or not at all. This is a fun little sushi restaurant that my family and I have enjoyed both eating at the restaurant plus ordering food for delivery. Either way the sushi is always quite tasty and everyone in my household is quite happy with everything we order. On my last visit it was just myself as my family was out of town. I sat at the sushi bar and ordered. One of the menu items I must have each time is the Ama Ebi or Sweet Shrimp. I do not remember when I fell in love with this yet I really enjoy eating the prawn head that are deep fried and just so tasty. I also had Hamachi or Yellow Tail Tuna, Unagi or Fresh Water Eel. Another amazing sushi that is smothered in an incredible sauce that is just quite tasty. I also ordered the Yellow Hot Tail roll that was really good with Yellow Tail, scallions, cilantro and avocado wrapped inside with more Yellow Tail on top with jalapeno slices on top plus topped off with Sriracha ponzu sauce. You really have to enjoy hot spicy flavor to enjoy this roll. Fortunately for me I am a fan of the World's hottest pepper the Carolina Reaper. I know I had a couple of other sashimi orders yet unfortunately not remembering them as I am writing this review a week later. Wow. I was completely blown away by there food and service. I rarely ever do All you can eat Sushi anywhere but on this trip on Las Vegas since I actually drove here from LA (great sushi/sashimi town). I give 5 on fresh quality of the fish as well as the very small rice to fish ratio on the ala carry sushi pieces. It was like being at Matsuhisa In Beverly Hills but at 500% cheaper no joke. Plus, the staff was excellent thus I will mention them by name (Mark and Christine). This is my first review in a very long time. I really enjoy the Sushi here. I was sitting in my hotel, wondering what to eat and browsing through restaurants on Yelp. I saw this place and thought, why not, the reviews are certainly solid. I ordered a Rainbow Roll, followed by a Double Spicy Roll. A couple of pieces of Nigiri to accompany that (the menu said 4 pieces for an additional $5 but I only received 2) and an order of a Edamame. The fish was amazingly fresh and the flavors were really outstanding. I didn't bitch about the $5 adder and only getting 2 pieces instead of the 4 stated because I had plenty of food and it was Nigiri and not Sashimi. I'll definitely be back the next time I'm in the area! Price for everything, and I only had water to drink, was a bit under $50. As far as alcohol goes, the only beer is Sapporo, which is a great Japanese beer, and I believe they had wine as well. Great experience overall!! read more

They don't skimp on the size of the rolls and two is more than enough for a single person even if you are hungry. The Monday special let's you buy one get one half off as well so a solid deal overall for a huge meal. The bar options are fairly well priced and typical options of Sake and beer along with a few cocktails are also available. They do offer a spicy Misso which was a great take to enhance the typical Misso with fresh jalapeño and chili paste. My best friend lives in Elmhurst and suggested we go here for dinner last night. Always listen to your friends! They know best. We waltzed in around 7:15pm looking for a table for two. Near the windows, there were two high-top tables that seated three each, and then one open table against the back wall. The hostess, a girl with curly hair (she was so stinkin' gorgeous but I didn't want to seem creepy so I didn't say that!) sat us at one of the high-tops near the window, which made me super happy. Thank you! Once seated we were greeted by our waiter, Alex, who was the BEST. HI, Alex? You. Are. The Best. My friend and I each ordered red wine, and were catching up, so we hadn't looked at the menu the first few times Alex came by. He was super patient with us, and seemed genuinely fine and relaxed about the fact that we hadn't really looked. Again, thank you! Once we were ready, I ordered two sushi rolls to start: a miami roll (tuna, salmon, cucumber, cream cheese) and a tuna roll. Both were absolutely fabulous and came out plated beautifully. My friend ordered the Poki Bowl, which was also completely gorgeous, and this moment was the point in the evening where we really were pleased with our waiter. My friend took 1-2 bites of the Poki Bowl and noticed that it was so spicy, to the point where she couldn't eat anymore. She was so nervous and felt extremely bad pointing this out to the waiter or chef. I figured from reading quite a few Yelp reviews that they'd rather she asked politely for a less spicy bowl instead of allowing her to have a less-than-fabulous experience, so I asked Alex as politely as I could: What could be done? He talked to his manager quickly and they were both completely understanding, and since she took only two bites, he had the chef re-make it. THIS WAS EXTREMELY NICE. Seriously, for the millionth time, THANK YOU. She was able to eat much more of her food and enjoy all of the glorious tastes of the Poki Bowl thanks to the restaurant's understanding. Alex even told a few stories about friends of his who'd tried the bowl and not been able to handle it. He was the best, and of course management here rules as well. You guys, I can't move because of all the amazing sushi I ate for lunch today. Let's raise the roof because Elmhurst FINALLY has a great sushi restaurant. Y'know those tiny, dry sushi rolls you get other places? So not the way things work here. Here you get huge, fresh rolls absolutely packed with ingredients. I can normally do about 3 rolls per meal, but here 2 would have been plenty. The portions are so large and wonderful. Plus, if you order a lunch combo you get a bowl of miso or egg drop soup. Amazing. And have you checked out the ingredients? In addition to massive pieces of fresh fish, they include super cool things like mango, fresh veggies, sweet potato and other awesome things. Even if you're allergic or not fond of fish, you don't have to be stuck with the same boring California roll you get everywhere else. You know where I'm talking about. Even vegans have options here. I got the Deluxe 2 Rolls special, which means you choose one regular roll and one deluxe roll. I went with the Snow Mountain (shrimp tempura, asparagus, cucumber, crab meat salad, eel sauce and spicy mayo). Did you read that? Are you salivating? Could you just die happy now? Don't. Go get some sushi first. I also went with the salmon/mango roll because it was something that sounded so fresh and new and awesome that I had to try it. I stopped in last month around 3ish and noticed the 'closed sign till 4pm'....they are closed from 3-4pm Mon-Fri, but open all day on weekends....so now you know.. I think Sushi Nest has some competition although I don't feel you can really compare apples to apples in terms of ambiance and size of dining area...sushi is top notch at both, however, I feel Sushi Nest is a bit pricier yet justified by my absolute love for the atmosphere (romantic) and unique combinations... it is just a different dining experience altogether... The romaine was OK but wouldn't make for crisp eating the next day.....Big chucks of Tuna comprised my Tekka roll...the white tuna nigiri had a thick slice and was thoroughly enjoyed....rolls were filling and included the perfect amount of fresh rice... This order was to go and they included three dipping sauces: rice wine, another I don't know the name of, and eel sauce (for my Spider roll) was placed on the side versus on top of my roll, I so appreciated this...I was given complimentary sliced avocado, cucumber, crab meat and daikon on the side accompanied by two servings of ginger, wasabi and soy...they didn't miss a beat! Our second visit to Sushi Time and it keeps getting better and better. I started out with the hot and sour soup. On a cold and blustery October day, it hit the spot. Full of mushrooms, tofu and other delights, it opened my sinuses and warmed me up in no time. We shared the soft shelled crab appetizer and this was as delicious as their sushi. I ordered the tri-colored sashimi platter with a spicy salmon roll again. The last time I had this dish, the fish was so fresh. Well, THIS time did not disappoint either. Just terrific! Sushi Time now serves Sapporo beer, plum wine and 4 kinds of sake. I would encourage you to try the sake if you never have. The house hot sake is an easy and cost effective way to experiment. (Once again, this is a great way to warm up on a cold night.) But, the real treat is the cold, unfiltered sake. There is a great deal of variation in sake and a good, unfiltered sake is a real treat. The unfiltered sake served here is $13 and comes in a small bottle that can be easily shared by two. It is subtly sweet and silky at the same time. In summary, the fish is very fresh and the rolls are terrific without going overboard on rice. Although you will likely go for the excellent sushi, the appetizers are excellent as well. I came here at Sushi Time on a Thursday night with my gal cousins and another time for lunch. It's a cute little place right in the heart of downtown Elmhurst. There's street parking and near by parking lots. A plus for me was it's a BYOB, yes BYOB in the Burbs yo! I made RSVP for 10 of us and they were accommodating, maybe because it was a weeknight. They were friendly and the place looks new and modern, it's a Japanese Fusion. They also do delivery and catering too which is nice to see since I don't live too far. I also noticed they are in Grub Hub too, sweet! The prices are reasonable for the sushi you get. The amount of sushi rice is a fair amount not like those jumbo sushi rolls and it mostly rice wack! They also sell brown rice for an extra $1.00 for dinner meals. But I'm not sure they make their sushi with brown rice (that would be a nice option). I also like the fact that you can ask to add or remove items out of your sushi order or dinner order, especially if you have food allergies. Here is what we ordered: For Starters: Crab Rangoon- you get 5 pcs hot and crispy with plenty of cream cheese and imitation crab with sweet sauce. Shumai- you get 6 pcs with sweet sauce, it was ok. They look like you can buy those in the frozen section in an Asian market so perfectly shaped, lol. Soft Shell Crab Tempura- Crispy and the sweet sauce was light and not overly sweet. I like to eat it plain myself. Shrimp and Vegetable Tempura-You get a typical 2 pcs of shrimp (the breading is more of a flaky tempura while the vegetables nice variety are made with your typical tempura batter). I'd get this again as this is my go to dish. Miso Soup-The flavors was nice, it had little pieces of tofu and seaweed in it. Seaweed Salad-This was fresh and tasty so my cousin said. I'm not a fan of seaweed salad but I trust her and there was plenty for a small. It could have been a meal or you can share it as we did around the table. Plain Noodles- There were lo mien noodles with a nice soy flavor. This was for the kiddies are one would know me I like my meat and veggies in it:) Now on to the Rolls: Spicy Salmon-it was a nice heat/spicy you can taste the salmon. This is my go to roll so I would get it again. Spicy Tuna-They make theirs minced like a pate, nice and spicy. This is my go to roll so I would get this again. Dragon-This was well made, spicy tuna/shrimp tempura/avocado creamy/eel nice and sweet per my cousin, it was ok. Dynamite-shrimp tempura, creamy avocado topped with fried onion w/ spicy crab meat, scallops, tempura crunchy with eel sauce. This had a lot going on and a rich flavor. Not one of my top choices, but my cousins liked it. Crunch Roll-Shrimp tempura, creamy avocado, topped with fried onion w/tuna salad (yes tuna out of a can), topped with crispy shoe string potato with eel sauce. It was ok, I'd like to try something else. Godzilla Roll-Shrimp tempura, cream cheese, spicy crab meat, avocado, topped w/tempura crunchy, eel sauce and spicy mayo. It was ok, but I had better with different items in it. Tropical Island-Soft shell crab, cucumber, avocado, mango, topped with spicy tuna, fish eggs, and eel and spicy mayo sauce. I like this roll, I'd get it again. Sashimi: Sake (fresh Salmon) you get 2 pcs per order and WOW they were big pieces seriously I'm use to a size of 2 finger width not 4 finger width. I LIKED it. It was fresh and I would get this again and again! Shro Maguro (White Tuna) you get 2 pcs per order and yes these were also big pieces. My cousins love white tuna and they said this is one of the best they have tasted. Which is nice to hear as I'm not a fan of white tuna, but I must say I did try it and it did taste like chilled steak...yeah from the sea lol! My cousins LOVED how fresh and Sashimi tasted and the size and the affordable prices that we ordered more lol! We ended up getting the Sashimi Dinner of 18pcs of Assorted Sashimi. Since it was the end of the night we asked for 18 pcs of Maguro (tuna), Shro Maguro (white tuna), and Hamachi (Yellow Tail) for this dinner. Overall, I'm glad we found this place so close to home. I even like their lunch special prices which is good from Mon thru Sat which includes a Miso Soup or a Soda. I'll keep coming back! What time is it?? It's sushi time! Seriously the BEST sushi! Casual, family friendly atmosphere with extremely reasonable prices. No liquor license yet means it's BYOB (or wine)! They have glasses. Its not always easy to find a spot with plenty of vegetarian options for me and carnivore options for the husband. This place nailed it! The vegetarian caterpillar roll was almost too beautiful to eat. It was delicious though! Sweet potato, avocado, asparagus, onion, radish sprouts...mmmm. I came here with my coworker for the lunch special. First, the decor is cute. I especially like the menu. The place is clean and the chef and waiter were both very friendly. My rolls- I sat down and said there's no way I can eat all this! Posted the pic on FB and ate. My friend asked me if I'm going to eat it all. Only then did I realize I had 14 rolls. 14! I'm like holy crap lol Mexican roll- the Siracha sauce gave it a nice kick! I really liked it. I wouldn't say I would order this one again soon- only because there are other rolls I enjoy more, but it was good and fresh. First time here. It was smaller than expected but very clean all around. I came for lunch and ordered the lunch special 2 regular rolls ($9.95) which came with miso soup or a soda (I opted for the soup). My rolls were made lightning fast and they were good sized rolls with a fair amount of fish to rice ratio. I sat at the sushi bar and the fish presented was very fresh and the station was kept clean by both chefs. Many people came in that ordered carry out while I was there. Never have I ever heard an owner of a business say "I don't want your business" lol I ordered steak fried rice and they gave me chicken fried rice. I called and they called me back and said that no it was steak fried rice and they can't give me a credit or another fried rice. I calmly explained that I come here all the time and get steak fried rice and this was actually chicken. He was yelling at me (the owner) and saying I don't want your business and don't come back because I offered to come back to show him it was chicken. Easy pickup during pandemic. There's a table outside where someone puts your food when you call for pick up. They put it on the table, wait behind the door to make sure you get your food, and wave goodbye. Super easy and safe! We had sweet potato maki that was still crunchy when we got home. We also had the General Tso chicken, which was crunchy, sweet, and a little spicy. It was great! Rice was nice and fluffy and chicken wasn't gross- all white meat from what I can tell. I am giving this restaurant a low review due to a lack of attention in preparation of one of my sushi rolls. I ordered a crunchy California roll and in at least two of the six sushi rolls there were plastic still wrapped around the crab stick. This could've been dangerous if I didn't notice (or if I were a kid and didn't know any better). I called and notified the restaurant about it and they gave me a refund which was nice of them, but this shouldn't have happened in the first place. The first time I got the huge platter with the sashimi and nigiri. I usually don't eat a ton of sashimi and nigiri but the special was a really good price so I decided to try it. It was really tasty and the fish was quality, however it was a lot of sashimi to eat if there's 2 or less people eating. The second time I got the special of 5 specialty sushi rolls. It was really good and I liked the rainbow roll and dragon rolls, pretty sure that's what they were. Some of the rolls I got had a lot of mayo on top and it was a little too much for me. I also was not a huge fan of the seaweed salad. The spicy miso soup was pretty good though. My friend got the combo fried rice and he said that was really good too! read more

I have found my favorite sushi place in my area. FINALLY, I have a go to sushi spot in the suburbs!!! What's so good about the Sushi Time besides that it's only 15 minutes away? Everything is the correct answer, but that's not very helpful, so I'll give you my favorites about my experience. Number 1: Service. I love the staff at Sushi Time. They were super polite and just quality people. As soon as we walked in, they asked us if we've been at Sushi Time before, and my friend and told them no. They quick to respond that we came on the right day. They told us about their Monday special which was buy one roll and get another roll half off. Our waitress also helped us decide on our rolls, and gave us some great recommendations. She recommended things we may like based on what we generally liked in our sushi. Needless to say we enjoyed all the sushi that was recommended. Then the genuine hospitality from our waitress was evident because we never had a empty cup of tea or water. She checked up on us regularly, and engage with us in very welcoming manner. I cannot speak enough of how impressed I was with the service we received. Number 2: Food. The food was terrific. I enjoyed everything that was presented to us, but to save some time, I'll just expand on my favorites from the night which was the Dragon Egg appetizer and the Tropical Island roll. The interesting thing about food is taste is never ever the first sense you use when getting your food. It's always sight and smell, so when your food comes out and looks or smells amazing, then you are already enjoying the food. Sushi doesn't have a distinct aroma, so you rely on the sight of your food to prepare yourself for your meal, and the Dragon Egg really set the stage. To preface the Dragon Egg, I don't like imitation crab very much. I think it has a rubbery texture, and it lacks a depth in flavor. So I was not necessarily excited about the appetizer, but our waitress recommended it, so we listened. Thank goodness, we did. The Dragon Egg was beautifully constructed, and since we eat with our eyes first, I was so ready to dive in. The Dragon Egg was imitation crab tossed in a spicy sauce wrapped in avocado topped with spicy mayo, eel sauce, fish foe, and I kid you not, edible gold flakes. Just the sight of it made me know, I was in for a food experience. It looked amazing and it's taste was on point. The crab was shredded and tossed in a flavorful spicy sauce that did great to use the crab as a light airy canvas. The avocado was fresh and balanced out the spice with a cool refreshing flavor. Then you had the sweet savory flavor of the eel sauce that just marries all the flavors together, and when you think it can't get better, you get a bite of the fish roe that provides the textural snap, and you mouth dances in joy. As for the Tropical Island roll, I was just as surprised of how I much I enjoyed it. This roll was again recommended by our waitress. I typically stay away from anything fried from my sushi because for me it generally takes away from the clean delicate sushi experience. I'm glad I was wrong again. The Tropical Island roll was tempura fried soft shell crab, mango, avocado, and cucumber roll topped with spicy tuna, spicy mayo, eel sauce, and fish roe. Lots of big flavors that individually may overpower each other, but this roll was immaculately balanced. The soft shelled crab was lightly coated and fried which prevented it from being greasy, and rolled with the flesh clean flavors from the avocado and cucumber it really blended the fresh and fried flavors together. Then paired with sweetness of the mango and spiciness of tuna along with that fried and fresh flavor, and you get an amazing balance of flavors. Not only was the flavor was immense, but the texture of the dish was also extremely well balanced. Each bite you had the tenderness of the mango, the chew of the rice, the snap of the fish roe, soft ground tuna, the smooth texture of the avocado, and snap of the cucumber. In terms of flavors and textures, the Tropical Island roll was exceptional. Number 3: Value. Sushi Time is worth every penny. The specialty rolls were gigantic. I'm a big guy with a large appetite, and my friend and I ordered 4 specialty rolls and an appetizer to split. By the time we were full, we still had more than a roll leftover. The best part is we didn't get full on sushi that was just stuffed with rice. The sushi was really portioned well with the rice and ingredients. It's just rolls were massive. Our waitress warned us they were large, but we just came from the gym so we thought we could handle it (we failed in epic fashion). 3 specialty rolls and an appetizer for 2 people is more than enough. However on Mondays, take advantage of the deal and get the fourth you'll be full but happy. I wrote too much, so to wrap this up, just try Sushi Time. At the very least, you'll be able to tell your friends you got to eat gold. read more

Oh my goodness. I ordered delivery from here tonight while on a business trip. Delivery was right on time. Their sushi is amazing! I ordered the spiced tuna roll (yum!), spicy scallop roll (my favorite), spring rolls (the best I've ever had), and the tuna tataki salad (so good!). It was more food than I could eat, but the menu had so many great items and was reasonably priced. I had to try a variety! I'm in town for a few more days....might have to order from SushiTime again! read more
